My friend raised a white duck from an incubated eggy, and the hatched duckling did indeed imprint and think my friend was his mommy. His bright orange feet would become a blur as he'd follow Jimmy around. It was hysterically cute. They don't like their mommy out of sight. Which is good, because in the wild if they get separated it is a great way to get picked off. Go ducky!

Ducks usually follows something that looks big and protective, this is why they follow their mothers, but if their is no mother and the duck is still pretty young then if it finds something that is bigger that it and moves obviously it will follow it
God i would shield that duckling in a thunderstorm if i had to. It's just so darn adorable with how it keeps running and make that 'pitter patter' sound ^^

This happened to me about 9 years ago; I was sad & calming down by the lake a walk down from our old house. Sure enough, baby duck comes up to me & I was curious as to why it was following me. But I didn’t mind; we kept the duck as a pet for well over a year, but as soon as its voice deepened & started quacking instead of chirping, we eventually had to release him into the wild. We called him “Oatmeal” because he loved oatmeal so much. That, and everytime his name was said, he’d respond with 2 chirps, which was the cutest thing ever!
This is so cute and gave me the chuckles reminded me of when we had baby ducks we would play with them we built a tub with a slide they loved it and they liked it too
