This happened to me about 9 years ago; I was sad & calming down by the lake a walk down from our old house. Sure enough, baby duck comes up to me & I was curious as to why it was following me. But I didn’t mind; we kept the duck as a pet for well over a year, but as soon as its voice deepened & started quacking instead of chirping, we eventually had to release him into the wild. We called him “Oatmeal” because he loved oatmeal so much. That, and everytime his name was said, he’d respond with 2 chirps, which was the cutest thing ever!
