Part One-Sculpting a Small Clay Maquette (non digital) - The Grey

In Part One of this video I show the sculpting of a mini clay bust (using Monster Clay), showing the initial blocking out and establishing primary and secondary forms.
Part Two will show the refining and adding skin textures.
I decided to go with something fun and simple for this first video, and what could be cleaner and simpler than a Grey Alien?! Future sculpting videos will cover more involved subjects, human, animal, fantasy etc. I will also do non - time-lapse videos as well.
Before starting, I had only the basic concept of the design in mind (its a Grey after all!), but you’ll notice in places where small design changes are made as I go. The ears for example were reworked.
As well as being my interpretation, the design has some influence from the beings in Speilbergs classic movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. The longer neck for example.
Instead of keeping the surface textures completely smooth as these beings are often depicted, I opted for something with a bit more visual interest, hence the skin surface became a little bit more wrinkled and textured.
