      Its alot louder with just downpipes. Downpipes with and x-pipe and cherry bombs sounds good.

    I only have downpipes rn because I've been to lazy to weld up the rest of the exhaust and it's not a daily and even then with windows up, you can't hear the exhaust idling and barely driving

    I miss Ko3 spool but this sounds like a APB motor mine was tame too with 3in downpipes and straight pipe the rest of the way but my BEL car same exact exhaust way louder but no spool sound thru the Ko4s

    Did you buy and install new flex pipes? And what size did you end up buying (diameter and length)? Mine are also rusted through so I'm trying to outline the list of parts first.

    • @TheDeadCylinders
      @TheDeadCylinders  8 місяців тому +1

      No, we didn't end up buying new ones...we just welded in solid pipe. We tried looking at local part stores but no one quite had the right sizing we needed. I believe they are 2" diameter by 4" long. Let me know what you figure out :)

      @@TheDeadCylinders Thanks brother! I'm in a weird spot where I have a 2.5in Miltek exhaust (including cats) ready to go in BUT the cats side is using a V-clamp. So on the downpipes side, I am trying to figure out how to mate the two sides (downpipe + new flex pipe + weld 2in to 2.5in V-clamp adapter + then new exhaust).

      @@njcentral Ohhhh gotcha. yeah that is a weird situation but that will be sweet once you've got it all assembled! I know in our experience there is not alot of room up at the top of the down pipes (thanks audi...) So for us doing the welds down at the origional flexpipe location made the most sense because it was way easier to access.

    So after wrestling twice with those maddening flex pipe, it ws when I decided enough ws enough & went with pulling the 4 cats ( they didn't scratch or scream .. lol ) & sourcing out 2.5 inch stainless steel tubes & bends, clamps, 6 inch circular flow thru mufflers & polished tips. Turbo back dumping into XS-Poer downpipes into 2.5 inch tubes flowing into the mufflers & out into polished tips.. No X pipe since its beneficial in naturally aspirated V8 or V6 not for forced induction motors.. Although supercharged would be different since the forced induction is not part of the exhaust system.. I did install my X-pipe @ first but took it out & preferred the result without... So I measured cut & fitted the entire exhaust for under $600...

    • @TheDeadCylinders
      @TheDeadCylinders  9 місяців тому

      That's great man! sounds like a really solid setup! Did you notice any difference with the x-pipe versus without? (sound, performance, etc...)

    • @marcstreiff6067
      @marcstreiff6067 9 місяців тому

      @@TheDeadCylinders Yes performance increased, sound lets just say bridges & tunnels are so much more fun now.. It cn be loud but only when stepped on which is wht I wanted. I chose no resonator because I feel the resonator is exactly why there is a drone.. But with. tiptronic the TCU / ECU settings pull it into 5th @ 2-2500 rpm so there's no wy to get out of this mode unless I'm always shifted into manual sport mode.
