      I’ve got a really nice one I’m thinking of selling. Just replaced the entire air suspension. Temperature controlled garage kept its entire life. Interior like new. 154k miles. Not a single leak on the car, everything been gone through. Bought it from the original owner a couple months ago as a fun little project to see if I could replace it myself. Pm me if want any more info.

    I got a leak I’m chasing that’s messing with my windows/electric. Car runs great just don’t have windows and features like hazard lights and interior lights. Water pooling in the backseat I originally thought it was the comfort control module in the front passenger seat. Chasing that problem but other than that the car is a beast! Love using it for camping

    I know plenty of Audi Allroad owners who have replaced the air suspension and all of them said that it was very expensive to replace but the car does ride so much better with them. Depending on how many other surprises you found that are wrong with this car and need attention it may or may not be worth replacing. And I think the video speaks for itself.

    Great cars that are very fun to drive! Not so easy or cheap to maintain but it’s a great car for what it is! Bottom line is when you buy those cars you have to be willing to work on it yourself. If you’re paying a shop to work on it at full retail markup then it will get out of hand very fast!

    I also have a 2003 Audi Allroad Quattro 2.7T but with the Automatic transmission. When I bought it 5 years ago it already had the suspension replaced with springs because the air ride system is unreliable. I'm 62 and I owned new vehicles and mostly used vehicles. One thing I can say is no matter what you buy, it will cost you to maintain it. So if you are worried about purchasing anything, fear not because like my stepfather always said, if it has T!T$ or Tires it going to give you problems. As stated I'm getting up in age and I don't like the prices of new vehicles so I will continue to put money into this car because I like it that much and by maintaining it I think it will last me for ever. I just replaced the timing belt and waterpump which was expensive but that should buy me at least another 100K Miles. Currently have almost 172,000 miles on this car. You mentioned about 3 different times about something blowing up, you even pointed the camera at something. I didn't understand what it was you were talking about, Please spell it out for me. BTW with the engine you said that broke the timing belt, didn't that finish the engine right then and there? Thanks for your time and happy motoring.

    • @TheDeadCylinders
      @TheDeadCylinders 6 місяців тому

      Hey Truckn! Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your story with us! glad to hear you Love your Allroad! We do too ;) The timing belt that I broke was on a different car that I owned (not the Allroad shown in this video) and yes it did ruin the engine which is the only reason I no longer own that car. I will admit that was mostly a result of neglecting to change the belt even though I knew I should have been done... The common problems we pointed out in this video (in order): - Triptronic automatic transmissions can have issues if not properly taken care of. Sounds like you have with yours so good job! - Oil leaks, these 2.7t engines have a lot of gaskets and they wear out over time... nothing that money cant fix! - The stock K03 turbochargers do not last long IF you try to turn up to boost (upgrading to the K04's might be a good option if you want to tune your car for more power) I believe this is what you were referring to in your question... If you keep it stock, change the oil regularly and always keep an eye on the engine temps you should be just fine for a long time. - The PVC and Coolant lines are prone to degrading over time and you will get both air leaks and coolant leaks respectively (These are an easy fix but worth checking on these older cars) - As you already know the Air Suspension is not reliable! (unfortuante because when it is working it is a fantastic system but short of replacing ever single component in the system there is no real way to save these from the inevitable.) The coilover swap is the easiest route which will solve all of the issues related to this system. Hope that answers your questions, if you have any more we would love to discuss further :) Cheers, Cameron

    Audi's are the greatest unless you by an older 1 that hasn't been taken care of and you don't know how to work on cars yourself or someone close to you. Yeah the tiptronics are prone to break but the manuals are prone to needing clutches ..lmfao. And honestly as nice as having a 2.7 twin turbo but if I am getting 1 for a daily commuter I would rather have a 4 cylinder turbo, way easier to work on.

    • @TheDeadCylinders

      @TheDeadCylinders I'm a huge fan of audi, obviously...lol. They make a beautiful line of quality automobiles. They're engineered awesome except for a few exceptions. If you take care of them and don't beat on them more than they're designed to. They can absolutely be a reliable daily. They can be fun to work on if you learn about them and get the right tools. When I'm interested in a car or anything for that matter I will spend a lot of time researching it. I tell everyone when we're talking about cars and working on audi's that even if you are a decent mechanic. If you have never worked on an audi they can make you feel like you don't know shit about cars at first...lmfao.

    So after wrestling twice with those maddening flex pipe, it ws when I decided enough ws enough & went with pulling the 4 cats ( they didn't scratch or scream .. lol ) & sourcing out 2.5 inch stainless steel tubes & bends, clamps, 6 inch circular flow thru mufflers & polished tips. Turbo back dumping into XS-Poer downpipes into 2.5 inch tubes flowing into the mufflers & out into polished tips.. No X pipe since its beneficial in naturally aspirated V8 or V6 not for forced induction motors.. Although supercharged would be different since the forced induction is not part of the exhaust system.. I did install my X-pipe @ first but took it out & preferred the result without... So I measured cut & fitted the entire exhaust for under $600...

    No... My 2005 allroad does not sound like R2D2 upon startup... But I was fortunate to find/buy mine 6 years ago @ 85K miles from a sole owner who was OCD on maintenance to the point where if the soft touch controls would be scratched up, she would take it back to Hoffman's ( Hartford CT ) & have the offending controls replaced.. This previous owner ordered it with complete full options, I received each & every invoice from the day she drove it new from the dealership. Today I'm @ 256K miles... I'm fastidious on maintenance & this allroad has broken down on the road 3 times. Once my fault, I pushed the clicking front outer CV joint to the max & it snapped making a slow speed right hand turn.. @ 240K the fuel pump died.. Last early spring the tiptronic went into limp mode, after draining the trans, pulling the pan, replacing the filter, refilling & clearing the codes, it returned into limp mode 40 miles down the road. It was the transmission range sensor.. If you like me have XS-power 3" downpipes you cannot get to the trans mount upper bolt to remove the mount & access the 2 torx bolts holding the range sensor in place... That done 3,000 miles since, all good... Mods are currently simple. Q7 BBK, XS-Power DPs into 2.5 stainless flow thru exhaust system ( no mid resonators). Stage I.. Soon to be Stage 3, RS6 turbos, 2.8 heads, higher output injectors, MAF, bipipes, RS6 capacity SMIC's....etc...etc... Plan to eventually build new motor to reach 700+hp.. with B8 DSG or techtronic from RS4 or RS5.... Currently @ 320hp... Interior currently being upgraded to B6 S4 Recaro seats....... These allroads are reliable but having worked on cars since childhood is definitely a plus or else one needs very fat wallets..... Cheers.

      I totally could have! But the engine really wasnt in great shape and it had unknown mileage and I dont really care for automatic transmissions soooo it made more sense to trade it :)

    so i bought a 97 b5 a4 2.8 quattro with a bad tranny but runs for 600. i had a spare 01A from a 1.8t that we parted out last year. we installed it with new fluids and everything and we made sure to put everything back where it’s supposed go. and then when we were take it for test drive…. it doesn’t start…😩 it wants to turn over but it just doesn’t… any advice you can give me? i can’t find anything about it on audizine and audiworld

    • @TheDeadCylinders
      @TheDeadCylinders Рік тому

      Oh no! That is super unfortunate! I can't really think of any reason that an engine wouldnt start up after transmission work has been done unless something got bumped or damaged in the process? if it wants to crank just wont fire I would probably go through the typical process of checking for spark, fuel, and compression worst case... Just to see if that helps you narrow down the problem.

    • @KingLilCris187
      @KingLilCris187 Рік тому

      @@TheDeadCylinders we checked and made sure that all of the spark plugs are gapped to the specs. we check the spark plug wires. fuel pump, all the fuel stuff, battery connections alternator harnesses that connect to the transmission, we made sure all the fuses are there and working, we checked the relays under the steering wheel. everything should be fine because before we bought it the guy turned it on for us and let it run for a while. it just need a transmission
