@@mitchellkalina8191 that 10yr span has some of the best memories of baseball, football, hell even soccer was making highlight wheels. Hell MJ blew sooo many peoples minds when he did that dunk from the free throw line. Like I can only imagine the energy that gave off to people at home watching it live.🤩🤩🤩🤩
@@antimurphy8212uh, no, because Ken Griffey Jr dominated. Nobody cares about the fuckin Yankees. 94-99 was prime Griffey and absolutely nobody could touch him in that 5 year stretch. Peak Griffey Circa 96-99 was the greatest player to ever step on the diamond. If he never had career dampening injuries at age 30 in 2000 he’d be the only player in history with 800 home runs right now. 10 gold gloves in 10 years. Youngest to hit 400 homers at 29 going on 30 and had 4 home run derby wins with NO roids in his system even one time. Baseball was ACTUALLY good back then. The 1990’s saved baseball. There had NEVER been so much talent spread across the entire league. In the whole 70’s decade only like 20 people hit 40 or 45+ home runs in a season. In the 80’s only like 19 or somethin like that; it was definitely less than 20.. But in the 90’s?? 45 people had already hit that many by the time of the 98 derby. Never been done before then. And I believe not since. The 90’s to the mid/late 2000’s was the best era for sports in GENERAL. Basketball, baseball, football, Supercross, hockey, golf: Quite literally ALL of them. Nobody gives a shit about the Yankees. It’s the fact that baseball was ACTUALLY exciting back then.
This is when the Home Run Derby was 🔥. I strictly watched this show just to see Barry bat flip at 2:52:36. I love it when Barry flips the bat when he knew that he won the 96 Home Run Derby.
First and only MLB all star festivities I've had the privilege to attend. So much fun getting taken out of school early to attend the Home Run Derby and ASG...
I was there with my brother, we were 13 and 15. Our mom parked on pattison and let us go together since we only had two tickets. Wonder if that would even be allowed now. Also the best part of this whole thing is hearing Harry in the background
to all yall who downs the ball players In the nineties I dont care how big you get guess what u still got to be good mark mcwire hit 49 his rookie year barry hit 46 in 93 when he was 175 pounds
He was basically a "1 year wonder". Expos tried to bring him back in 2002 hoping he would recreate the magic, but I think he went like 1 for 25 and got cut. OOPS!
Anyone know the full version of the theme music playing at the beginning? If not, how about any of the older MLB theme music ESPN used in the mid 90s - 2000s?
It's funny when I watch these HR contests from back then now. Especially this one. There wasn't a single player in this who wasn't juiced up. Steroids On Parade!
I wish I could relive the entire 90s baseball season 1990-1998 that would be amazing!
Because you're a Yankee fan right?
I wish I could be 16 in 1990.. it seemed like all the sports were better in the 90’s.
@@24Baseballthey definitely were, every sport had some of the best to ever do it playing.

This was so fun to watch. Can you upload more home run derbys? I'd appreciate it.

I miss these guys. Berman's back back back back back and Joe Morgan.
It's cool to hear Harry Kalas in the background. The ESPN commentators should have shut up.

Barry had a different personality before the roilds.
bonds has always been a dick. even at Pittsburgh. Most likely how he was raised.
Seriously, even if you are a Phlliies fan, how can you NOT love Joe Carter? He was incredible here "3 years too late!" on the foul ball, LOL
They say philly fans are rude but they still cheered for him after his turn
Brady, Brady, Brady!
