Yes, please explain how. Why do some states completely fail when it comes to educational achievement while other states soar? That's why you can't blame it on the federal Department of Education. Funny thing is, pretty much all the failing states are the red states because they don't know how to manage their money and they don't know how to handle education. Most of the time you see children failing, it's because the parents fail to support them. This is coming from an experienced teacher AND parent of high-achieving students AND kids of my own. By the way, Arizona has put this model into play for some years now, and it has been a failing experiment.

Education was always a joint effort between parents and schools. Without parental support and the outright animosity many parents express, kids won’t bother to learn. Then when the children can’t learn they blame the schools.

Then when they moved to Washington D.C. they basically became a shill for the Democratic Party. Plus in this economy where both parents have to work to afford to live, which parent has the time to educate the children? Yes, a teacher of over 20 years……it needs to go. It is bleeding our tax dollars… and not teaching children. It is not an educational establishment anymore but a babysitting service. I retired to home school my children they are well rounded in their education and started college at age 15…..they graduated top of their class, honors every semester. ( they graduated college prior to their high school class graduation). I could teach a full year in three months. Tax dollars need to be gathered from other sources, not from people who don’t have children in the public school system….(Senior’s, retired, or people who do not have children). Regularly check curriculums, and be on top of what is being preached to our children. I Thank President Trump, Go bless him.

Tennessee gets enough spending tax dollars to put towards these kids' education, they don't need to tax us anymore. Move those dollars around for the schools and we'll have well paid teachers and bright kids that will make something of themselves and put the money back into Tennessee.
I agree that the department of education should be left to the state. The federal government should offer help with funds, but curriculum needs to be mandated by the individual state.

If the department is gone, how are you gonna expect the federal government to fund the state? The state tax will increase to cover that cost. Either way, you’ll have to pay more taxes to fund education. Also, state teaching standards are related to national standards. If students are failing, that’s also a reflection of the state too

Every State has its own Department of Education, plus school districts. The "less funding" argument is invalid because 1) the federal department's money is the same source as your State's department, which is you, and 2) teachers are not paid by the federal government, which means eliminating the federal department will not decrease teachers' salaries (so what's the problem?).
Kentucky has very poor educational success. People that graduated high school in Kentucky are about as well educated as 6th graders in the area of the country I live in.

Yes and Amen the states need to be responsible for the education system within there states. Look at the scores worldwide it tells you something. Our kids know virtually nothing failing at math failing at reading and writing too. No deductive or inductive reasoning skills are being nutured in the classroom. They are truly induction centers for social agendas instead of true learning. The children are the future and they need skills. A good command of math writing and reading and history especially if the constitution bill of rights preamble etc. Lenin ( not John Lennon of the Beatles) said a people that doesn't know its history is predicted to tyrany. Make America knowledgeable and intelligent again. Citizenship is an important and children need something to believe in. God and Country might be a good start. If it's important to your constituents, they will fund it. The only reason they want federal money is because they know if left to local support, much of what they push will disappear, as will their jobs. They are concerned about money, not education.
Why do I, as a California resident have to pay tax dollars to educate your children in Tenn.? You are responsible for your own children and should pay for them the exact same way as I pay for education in my own state. No taxation without representation, deal with your own state.

The US now ranks 28th out of 37 developed countries in math education. Most countries which have surpassed us have strong central education standards. Turning the US into a patchwork of quasi-private, religious , book banning indoctrination camps is just going to accelerate our demise and ensure our children can't compete in the 21st century.

During the majority of my lifetime education was run by state and local governments according to their local priorities. What right does the U.S. government have to take over this authority? Doesn't the Constitution say that all powers not specifically delegated to the U.S. government remain with the states and people? Is this not usurpation of power? As to financing, maybe we should limit education to what we can actually afford. How long will a U.S. government that is some 35 trillion over broke going to pay much for education? When it is already saying social security will be ending soon (tho we can keep sending billions to Ukraine by paying U.S. defense companies to make weapons for them) and who knows what other palms are benefitting. Unfortunately, it appears that the U.S. economy is living on borrowed time financed only by past economic hard work reputation success that is no longer being sustained by hard work or American production.

That's why you can't blame it on the federal Department of Education. Funny thing is, pretty much all the failing states are the red states because they don't know how to manage their money and they don't know how to handle education.
Most of the time you see children failing, it's because the parents fail to support them. This is coming from an experienced teacher AND parent of high-achieving students AND kids of my own.
By the way, Arizona has put this model into play for some years now, and it has been a failing experiment.

Education was always a joint effort between parents and schools. Without parental support and the outright animosity many parents express, kids won’t bother to learn. Then when the children can’t learn they blame the schools.

Yes, a teacher of over 20 years……it needs to go. It is bleeding our tax dollars… and not teaching children.
It is not an educational establishment anymore but a babysitting service. I retired to home school my children they are well rounded in their education and started college at age 15…..they graduated top of their class, honors every semester. ( they graduated college prior to their high school class graduation). I could teach a full year in three months.
Tax dollars need to be gathered from other sources, not from people who don’t have children in the public school system….(Senior’s, retired, or people who do not have children).
Regularly check curriculums, and be on top of what is being preached to our children.

If the department is gone, how are you gonna expect the federal government to fund the state? The state tax will increase to cover that cost. Either way, you’ll have to pay more taxes to fund education. Also, state teaching standards are related to national standards. If students are failing, that’s also a reflection of the state too

Every State has its own Department of Education, plus school districts. The "less funding" argument is invalid because 1) the federal department's money is the same source as your State's department, which is you, and 2) teachers are not paid by the federal government, which means eliminating the federal department will not decrease teachers' salaries (so what's the problem?).

During the majority of my lifetime education was run by state and local governments according to their local priorities. What right does the U.S. government have to take over this authority? Doesn't the Constitution say that all powers not specifically delegated to the U.S. government remain with the states and people? Is this not usurpation of power? As to financing, maybe we should limit education to what we can actually afford. How long will a U.S. government that is some 35 trillion over broke going to pay much for education? When it is already saying social security will be ending soon (tho we can keep sending billions to Ukraine by paying U.S. defense companies to make weapons for them) and who knows what other palms are benefitting. Unfortunately, it appears that the U.S. economy is living on borrowed time financed only by past economic hard work reputation success that is no longer being sustained by hard work or American production.

The government should not have any say so in how Americans want to educate their children. That is a parent’s decision.

Abolish the federal dept of education. Education should’ve never went federal. Send it back to the states. Parents are better able to decide how their children should be educated.
