Playing everything off the ride symbol is one option
Another option is playing everything off the bass drum
Another option is playing everything off of the high hat
Another option is playing everything off of the rhythm between the bass drum and the High tom
Yeah it’s cool that you can choose to play everything off of the rhythm you’re playing on one of the voices
It doesn’t mean you have to play everything off of that voice
You could choose to play without depending on any one voice at all
THERE IS NO ONE BEST WAY TO

I never really got the drummer low iq jokes when they tend to be the best musician in any band.
I'm not even a drummer yet I get how this relates to what I do on my instrument.
TheCompleteGuitarist it is usually said about pop and rock drummers. Jazz is a completely different form of music
Nah, drummers work their balls off in almost every genre, it's guitarists that forsake craft and technique because they are either too dumb or lazy. Just kidding. Of course I am a guitar teacher and many of my students just won't discipline themselves to generate good technique and habits like most drummers.
