- During the last RACE1000 I have filmed a drag race between a 735HP VW Golf 2 R32 Turbo 4Motion against a Nissan GTR R35! The video shows you who is the fastest during the 1/2 Mile drag race. Supercar vs Sleeper (supercar killer). I hope you enjoy the video.

I remember my first GTI MK2 I bought it for $200 and it burned out off of that guy's Farm. As a matter of fact I did so many burnouts on the way home one of the CV's fell out in my driveway as I pulled up!
It would have been good to have a camera set up somewhere down the track so we could see how far in front the VR6 was in the first run halfway down the track

It would be great if you guys would put some cams at the side of the cars ...thats very intresting then... for example like the start at 2:02 where Golf was late and overtakes GTR... on each car two cams outside that are filming in both directions (side front /side back) like @DragTimes :-) Anyway, keep up the good job!! :-) ...More tuned Audi's, Porsche's, Golf's are welcome :D

VR6 engine vs VR38DETT. That's why they sound similar.
Solomon Tetteh The VR38 has no relation to the VR6 design.
It's most likely because they are both sixes and the firing order and the counterweighting of both enginees. There are probably quite a few similarities between the crank layouts for both as well.
Zatiti Cherry no there is not any similarities between these two engines. The vr6 has a very unique narrow pattern with only a single head on a v6 . The vr38 is a standard v6 orientation like 60-90 degrees dual over head cam heads. Only similarity is they both have 6 pistons that's it!!!
Random Adventures You're correct, I totally forgot that the vr6 is a narrow angle V6 which is it's Hallmark; but that has no bearing on the counterweighting or the firing order, which will contribute to the sound of the engine. Narrow angle or not,it's still a six. Although the narrow angle may dictate that the vr6 may be counterweighted differently too now that I think it; but I'm not sure; but the crank layouts and the firing order can still be similar which again can contribute to them sounding similar.
Random Adventures Nope, firing order is different too; vr6 is more like a inline 6; so not sure then. Possibly the induction and or exhaust; because I do notice a similarity in the sound as well,but I'm not sure what aside from the afformentioned that could contribute to that since the engines are in fact that different.

Nice race. Winning is winning. Here are the facts. Nissan GTR standard. Make it 735Hp both and the Golf gets walked. To get 735hp in Nissan GTR is almost like pissing into the tank. They get up to 2500hp. 1000hp easy. That coupled with there is nothing left of that Golf (rear seats out, front light gone, and probably a lot of other weight reductions) and engine breaks every now and then vs a normal GTR with full seats and a lot heavier and it would whip the Golf into shreds if the same hp. Dreamers dream on... realists knows the facts.

Which is so good on this one that only the front tires smoke. Notice it has to warm those tires first too. Do you see the GTRs doing this? Nope. Now. Try and get your mind to this. The GTR has a world known gearbox, known for it's quick changes. It has a world known AWD system. This GTR 540hp was close to the Golf. Do you really want to tell me a change of 200hp will have no difference? Tell me.. what will happen if you start stripping the GTR like the Golf is? Come on. You must see the difference. You must at LEAST see why the fastest cars on things such Dragtimes, America One Lap, etc... etc.. (IF you Really want I will name a lot more) is dominated by GTR's and not VW's or Hondas. Look at Texas mile 2014 to 2017. Why are there no Golfs in those top runners? GTR's, Lambos and Vipers. Why... even the Porsches gets in the low end of the groups?
