This was so heartwarming to watch. We have Apollo who is a 10 1/2 year old Dane who used to look and act like Gus in his prime. Now, he has degenerative myelopathy and needs help walking on “bad” days. But he still has that playful spirit Danes have and won’t give up the fight to keep going. Dogs are a gift from God.

My girl used to go after flies too. One time she got a wasp- she never went after flying insects again. She remembered for a long time too. She was about two when she got stung and lived to ten without ever going after anything flying.

@@GreatDaneCare She's a HUGE goofball 🤣,& so smart! I'm disabled, & I tripped over her twice when she was 4 mos old. She waits for me to stand now, then follows behind me, so I won't trip over her anymore. She'll be 4 yrs old in Aug. I just love the way she adapts so quickly, without losing her character..best dog ever!
Love that you kept her natural ears and tail, although that tail can be a whip weapon. Don't understand why people crop them. Seems inhumane.

Some dogs can get what's affectionately referred to as "Happy tail" where the wag their tail against corners too much and causes them to damage it (as in open wounds with bleeding). Then the dogs might continue doing the same thing and it might never heal, so some people will have to dock their tails at that point.
As for ears, some danes (especially ones that like to swim) can be prone to ear infections and cropping can help.
Luckily I haven't had either problem with my dane, so she's au naturale

Oops, didn't realize we were signed in under this account instead of my girl's account. My girl said Gus needs to show me how to do the "in the water" thing...had my first experience in Lake Michigan yesterday and wouldn't come out once I got in! 🙃🤦🏼♀️

HI! I have a European Great Dane he is 6 months old and I struggle with him wanting to eat his food. He is bit skinny not malnourished but, I feel like he needs to be eating more.I've tried various ways of encouraging him to eat all his food by adding in wet, broth and even peanut butter. He is currently on Royal Canine giant breed puppy formula. He is very picky!
Gaile Hart I had the same problem and I asked the vet if I could try a little bit of cream cheese. Because of the fat content, I keep it to a teaspoon normally and that had my baby eating up every last bite. I don’t do it every time but at least 2 times a week. He is growing like a weed. 😁 I would check with your vet first but this worked for us. Good luck.

I love my Dane but you should talk about the tail, a strong weapon. My nose was actually broken when hit by Nikita’s and of course the tail is always wagging lol but wouldn’t trade her for anything.
I just call it her legal weapon

Do you suggest any reputable breeder in the us? Chicago region or somewhere close ? I’m having a hard time finding one that is reliable and legit.
There are Facebook groups that may be able to help you find a good breeder! I’m getting my pup in a few weeks from a mama in Springfield MO but I think the drive will be so worth it! Let me know if you want her info 😁

I have a 6 month old beautiful blue (like Gus). They are fun to watch play. Does Gus ever "throw" her own toys during play? We like watching her play with our 14yo. She sounds like she is going to kill him, but all in fun.
She’ll toss them up and catch them sometimes if that’s what you mean by throw
