    Your channel is the best that I’ve come across in years when it comes to portrait photography. I’ve watched thousands of videos and hundreds of channels and I’ve never seen anyone shoot and explain what and why all while instructing the beautiful model. I’ve learned a few new things and I’m looking forward to more of your videos. I’m actually looking to become a member. Amazing stuff sir. Thank you for sharing. Keep up the great work.

    good video marco! been having trouble with direct lighting photography, some key tips I took from your video was
    1. direct direct light and not on the side
    2. underexpose photos to save highlights
    3. mood boarding (which is not directed to sunlight shooting but still a good tip)

    I've watched some photographer's video of shot, but not many ones intentionally take advantage the direct sun light while they shot. they most situation is they prefer to avoid the direct sun light. your video impressed me about taking advantages of the direct sun light. I believe a lot photographer don't like shot under the direct sun light. Great video, great shots.

    Another cracking vid as always, noticed you are always shooting very wide opened with the lens, my 50mm 1.4 when I use it to those sort of apertures it is very easy to miss the focus point or get one eye in focus the other out!! Also see the shutter speed is super high is this whats helping with the focus?

      Thanks for watching. Yes when I shoot these portraits I’ll go a little bit more open.
      I rely on Sony’s amazing AF and also ensure I’m standing fat enough for model to be in focus. The closer you get to your subject the more blur you’ll have

    Do you think you should have had a strobe to kill the shadows on her neck area?

    • @MarcoCastro
      @MarcoCastro  4 місяці тому

      “Should” maybe. But in my line of work, strobes slow me down (Check my most recent video and see what I mean). Also in south Florida is very windy at times, so I’d need someone to man the strobe. That said, when filming these UA-cam videos I primarily work alone. On a job, I’d have a team. Thanks for watching and suggestions.

    Thanks for the video Marco. When I shoot with direct sunlight I find it very difficult. I try to take a photo at point 0 in photometering but still my model gets sunburned. I think you said in the video at one point that you are 3 stops back to save the highlights. Can you explain more? Because from the results I saw, you had the perfect exposure.

    Greetings from Turkey, I've just started, I'm very enthusiastic, I like taking portrait photos, but I don't have a model to take them with, I need your advice, I have a Sony A7 IV Sigma 24 70 2.8, how do you edit the portraits you take, what application do you use and the last present? Thanks for the video Marco! I like the look of direct sunlight. How come your model does not squint? I suspect you shoot later in the day?

    • @MarcoCastro
      @MarcoCastro  6 місяців тому +2

      Hey there. Thanks for watching and for the question. The answer is; A combination of several things.
      1) shoot took place at 3-5 pm and during winter season, the sun stays low through the day
      2) I use a technique to help my models be able to look directly at my camera without hurting their eyes. I speak more about this on this video
      ua-cam.com/video/cNywfP-nL80/v-deo.html
      3) I shoot fast, I don’t to the “one more one more” once I know I have my shots, I move on
      4) I take a break to show photos which helps rest my and models eyes.
      Check out the video I linked, that video was shot in late summer and sun was not low, therefore I’m forced to use a technique.
      Thanks again and I hope I answered your question.

    Do you think sun in florida is a bit lighter, smoother than in other counties, like i live in Dubai and i think sun here is a bit stronger, harsh comparedto your pictures. What do you think?

    • @MarcoCastro
      @MarcoCastro  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey there. Thanks for watching. I am not 100% sure if it's Florida sun related to be honest. I can tell you that i have been shooting hard and direct light almost my entire photo journey. I can't recall a time where i used a diffuser or scrim.
      Also note that during winter season, the sun is lower on the horizon. As we get into summer, the sun goes higher giving you light more from above the subject. I will be doing a video on how I shoot during this time, but i have to wait until then.
      For now you can check out this post on my instagram, this shot was taken at high noon, notice the sun above model's head?

    • @Losochill

      I wanna know these things too. Are people paying him or is he paying people, is it pro bono or what. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @MarcoCastro
      @MarcoCastro  2 місяці тому

      This is a GREAT QUESTION; In UA-cam it is very difficult to make money through adsense, if any. So thats where you start seeing sponsored videos. I am definitely not doing this for money. I truly enjoying teaching and helping people.
      That said, at times brands have reached out to sponsor my videos, but I only work with brands that align with the way I work or brands that produce products which I can actually use. My rule is "If I can't use it on set, it's a pass".
      Now, I cannot deny that putting content on YT has not opened other opportunities, because it has. That is primarily because what you see here is what you get when working with me, and some clients have seen my style and expertise and appreciate it.
      This is like a portfolio for how is like to work with me. No frills.
