As for Cheatle resigning on the heels of the assassination attempt, what other director has resigned after a failure? Yes, the director at the time of Reagan belatedly resigned but Kennedy was killed and the director stayed. It was like she had to be offered as a sacrifice to calm the storm and I'm not saying it wasn't a mess. But Kennedy's death was horrific and the conspiracies continue to this day.
