Today Nico talks with creator of Power Puff Girls, Craig McCracken and creator of My Life as a Teenage Robot, Rob Renzetti, about running your own animated series.
I cannot explain how much I admire them both and how happy it makes me that they're still working and expanding their legacy. Both living legends, incredibly creative minds that deserve to be remembered for generations to come.
To Craig McCracken: may you please do a crossover with wander over yonder and Kid cosmic, someone did a short comic with two of your works and cute, funny and memorable. The comic is call: Kid cosmic and the wandering weirdo.
He doesn't own Wander over Yonder or Kid Cosmic; they're the property of Disney and Netflix.
Edit: he says it himself about an hour 42 minutes in.
Today, we celebrate Craig McCracken 50th birthday!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎈🎂🎁🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎆🎇❤💙💚
Happy Belated 53rd Birthday Craig McCracken!
I hope MLAATR comes back soon. With Renzetti and his crew working on the show, recruiting old voice actors because they can and would do it if the people who wanted to bring back his creation can let him work on it, and not screw it up and understand what made the series good. And add in like 3 more seasons and a movie that'll be great.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
35:00 CN tried to stop Craig from showing certain stuff on the show
Fry and Hamburg confirmed 🏳️🌈 thank you craig
I wanna be just like those two when I graduate from college!
Same here!!! 💚
@@alirezaomrani7650Craig McCracken will be my future boss!
Speaking of Kid Cosmic, the show will premiere on Netflix next month.
1:07:36 really excites me, being a high schooler who posts art online and gets comments like "hey when are u gonna get a cartoon?"
I grew up watching both of these shows.
McCracken I think he is looking good but little old but I am so happy he is staying safe with this virus 🦠
This was so awesome to watch, I'm so glad the algorithm sent it my way, It's been really helpful to reflect in trying figure out where I want my career to go. I may not be directly involved in animation (since I'm a filmmaker) but it's been great to hear all this experiences and advice, which really can be helpful in most creative fields
CRAIG !!!!!
😀😀😀😀😀😃😃😃😃😃😃
OMG !
YOU ARE BACK !!!
I feel so alive now
What happened to Craig’s eyes?
Very interesting @22:55 being influenced by pre-existing properties... does that include artist's submissions?
Do creators still make money off their older shows 15 years later? Maybe 20?!
yes due to residuals when the reruns are played and sometimes merch sales..they sign contracts stating they make like 10% off everything including reruns of the episodes and thus they sell the rights to the show to the studio for that cut sometimes its bigger and they have to renew it after like 7 years or whatever but yeah they can make money from a show like 40 years later if they have a strong relationship with the network for that long which is rare....but usually that means selling your souls for profit which some creators do not want to do cause it means the network now owns the property thus you get reboots without the original creator on board sadly
Need more of these guys!! Craig and rob are a pleasure to listen too!!

people forget animation on primetime t.v. was dead besides simpsons for like 30 years...no one cared since flintstones pre simpsons and even during the simpsons era for close to a decade after the shorts on tracey ullman premiered...making your own show felt impossible...luckily dexter's lab changed that the way rugrats did for nick and simpsons did prior
If you have an idea, just apply it.
the rule is, there are no rules.
so good! thanks again :D
Thanks so much for this interview! Lots of valuable insight.
