good to know. I absolutely love listening to FRED. Its a shame i've slept on BSQs all these years, i've always liked them, but it wsn't untill a rendition of the Beach Boy's "god only knows" by the mighty wind(?) that I developed an obsession for them. Now i get FRED's inside jokes it makes it even better to listen to them. The "Gold before platinum" bit where the lead is wearing a tupee of platinum`s lead was brilliant!
I was at the Harmony Marketplace at Harmony U one year, and this performance was playing on the TV in there... When they got to the part about the Boston Common "they won in '74" and so on, Ron Knickerbocker from the Regents turned from the screen and said "Not '74!" and walked away... haha
I stumbled one day on these Barbershop Quartet videos and let me tell you - they have brought me happiness on some pretty low days. Fred is one of my favorite groups along with Crossroads, Gas House Gang and Chordiac Arrest. A great big thank you to all of you who have posted videos on here, one day hope to make it to a convention when I am back in the States.
7:48 holy crap this rings, this is why I love fred. Same with the intro to I've got rhythm. Also does anyone know what note the Tenor sings on 'In', "For all the gold In our barbershop world" I cant quite hear it. Edit its a g
They went backstage for a comedy bit before the tag, and the tenor never came back out. He fell and twisted his ankle badly, so the other three had to stand there awkwardly and just end the set.
That was planned as far as I understand! The boo boo was a previous round that the tenor had hurt himself and they had to end a song early with no ending so they got a big points deduction.
So this is the song Newfangled Four referenced! Love it.
Clay Hine is the most underrated baritone of all time.
He might be underrated but he is one heck of an arranger.
I agree. His blending is incredible, but he's not impossible to hear.
Very good isn't he
well done 25 years later ...
Defo
Love them more and more. Great baritone Clay Hines.
For sure

Just realised that Silly Names was inspired by a Chiefs of Staff medley.

That was planned as far as I understand!
