I love filipinos!they are so amazing hope i can visit philippines soon..god bless and take care, love you all guys..greetings from Seoul Seoul Tan, Kudarat.. 😊😊
The theory on the thresher's whip tail was confirmed - it's documented on blue planet 2 on the episode on pelagic life. I liked this episode, the whole explanation about your rebreather and the shot of the cleaner wrasse during the description of the symbiosis between them was especially pleasing - a nice visual que before the example. If you read this far, know that everything so far has been just amazing - so long as this goes on I know you'll be remembered throughout the scuba and marine documentary world in the future because I know my children will watch the full boxset if they are going to ask anything about my life in scuba.
Great video, are you doing this for a living or just for the fun ? I really would love to go diving, I think I'll take a dive when im in egypt again, there must be awesome animals in the water :)
Ahh Malapascua island, been there in 2017. Pretty small island, nothing much to do. People come there especially just to see these sharks. You gotta go pretty early in the morning to see them, but you get to see quite a good amount of these. Cool video.
just for a moment to start off who in the hell would give a thumbs down to that video absolutely fantastic video AnyWho moving onto positive things.....negative Nancy's can please leave . moving on like I said thank you so much I've never watched one of your videos absolutely mesmerizing what a beautiful shark those threshers are, in the 60s I lived in the Bahamas and for A year or so we lived in Port Royal on our boat at that time manta rays were jumping out in the bay Jamaica Bay Kingston Harbor quite often he could hear them from like a mile away absolutely awesome video thank you......
I'd love to see the new island in the Hawaiian chain. Can not remember the name, it's a pretty name. Are you able to get to Hawaii? This island is being built by vulcanism. Not close to the surface yet. Watching this island being made would be very cool to see.
The Filipino fans are very patriotic and great supporters of this channel. And we LOVE diving in the Philippines--which is why we have made at last count 17 (!) episodes that were filmed (or partially filmed) in the Philippines!
Hi Sir Jonathan, i really love this Video especially when you featured this Thresher shark inside our country, Philippines. But my concern is a tourguide who used an anchor to land a Boat on the Top of the reef. how can we stop this method or is there another alternative way to landing a boat without using an anchor? Anchor can damage the reef so i don't like it.
I agree. Keep in mind that this video was filmed more than 10 years ago. I'm betting they have a mooring system by now. The trouble they had back then was that the fishermen would steal the mooring ball!
Rarely see threshers filmed. Seen very little footage on these sharks. I started looking for them when a local paper here in Maine, posted a picture of a thresher leaping... from the Damariscotta River! It was small, but that tail! Now, in Maine we just had a fatal Great White attack, this summer. Happened about 20miles south of me. Right down the coast at Baileys island.
Never seen one, but never seen lots of the many shark species in Davy Jones Locker! Have been at 15 metres with the Great White, Tiger and Bull Shark, all huge and in the same dive!! Unusual yes, unheard of, no! About 200 metres off shore on a reef undulating, could have been a cleaning station, but species tend not to be near each other. The 3 gave us the "look" and left us alone! Oh to have been able to afford an underwater housing for my video camera!
Sharks everywhere in the Philippines, Monad Shoal has thresher sharks, Gato Island has its white tip shark who welcome you in an underwater cave. :D everywhere in the blue has sharks. :)
There were sharks but they keep their distance from.the land because they can smell.shark fin soup. Unlike other countries sharks terrorize human in the Philippines it the other way around.
Yeah the common pinoy doesn't know much about Philippine biodiversity. Media said we don't have tarantulas. Now we know we have several species and more undiscovered. You would be amazed we also host the blue whale. We also have otters, monitor lizards (bayawak) that eat fruit, the peregrine falcon (fastest animal on earth - they even live in metro manila), etc. We have more species per square area than most countries. We are listed as a megadiverse country.
I play Hungry Shark World and i saw the in game thresher shark and i didnt believe that such a shark existed. It turns out im wrong (and yes im Filipino)
Gonna have my DM course starting next year or maybe a couple of months after the quarantine. Seeing it with my own eyes is my life long dream, and I'm a local Malapascuan islander
Hey Jonathan Bird it's me Francess I forgot to tell you that I've been on that I've been on those boats before too because well I'm from the Phillipines but I live in Florida
That was impressive how close you got to that thresher..I came close this summer at Little Brother in Egypt 30m down, thresher was hunting something & came right up to the side of the reef for a split second then turned & vanished.
Jonathan you should Go back to Malapascua Island in the dive site monald shoul thier are more sharks and it is posible to see a manta rays and devil rays ive been there recently
The reason why I like this guy: He is trying to convince the world that half of the ocean creatures doesn't want to kill you.
LOL
Hahaha yeah but really the superior ones really do- including the octopus
"WE" are the one killing it.
Just half? Still nope
Well duh the dude is a professional diver. You should try it yourself and let's see if your dumbass won't become an entree for ocean creatures.
*Philippines is the Center of Marine Biodiversity in the world so I'm not surprise that there are otherworldly marine creatures in our ocean.* ❤
If you didn't know. Threshers are so cute
they have cute eyes
Blue sharks is more cuter than the thresher sharks i think
I really do agree I draw hammerhead sharks and thrashes the most. These two animals are my most favorite animals in the world.

You came for the thresher, ended up seeing manta too. That was subtly epic.

As a Filipino I didn't realize that there were Thresher Sharks in the Philippines
where do you live? It's understandable if you're from a land locked province/City.
