    I watched the Drake Maye review before this one. Wow what a difference. He looks calm in the pocket, his footwork is consistent and correct, he's hitting open receivers.

    GREAT VIDEO.

      What's interesting is there's more than a couple of former NFL QBs who are high on Daniels' as a prospect. Equally, those same former QBs (Simms, JT O'Sullivan, Warner, Chase Daniels, and Kurt) are all down on Maye as an immediate impact player compared to the consensus

    • @EtreNameless
      @EtreNameless 8 місяців тому

      @@DreamBird1 Right. Some are more down than others on Maye, but all of them think he needs to grow, and I completely agree with that. His talent is in the top three, but he isn't ready to take over, and I honestly think that is why he will succeed. If he goes to NE, they have everything in place to let him sit and develop.

    I see Drake Maye as a Daniel Jones type QB. I watched both Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye and for the last month I stand on Daniels. I’m a big Michigan fan but Daniels will be our guy. Yes Maye is bigger and heavier but watch most of the games. Daniels is our guy in Washington.

    4:36 I’m pretty sure was a coverage check that Saban calls 7 Stubbie. It’s one of his favorite checks from 77 vs empty trips. Basically a split field coverage with the short side of the field playing match quarters, and then a match/box/triangle coverage, whatever you wanna call it, on the front side.
    The outside corner plays man on the #1 no matter what.
    The apex carries the #2 vertical, unless the #3 breaks, then he passes the #2 to the safety over top.
    The mike carries anything short and inside, no matter who breaks in.
    The safety takes any vertical route by the #3, or from the #2 if the #3 breaks out early (in which case the apex carries the #3 to the flat)
    Saban calls match quarters “77” and he calls the frontside bracket concept “stubbie.” So the check is “7 stubbie.”
    In that play safety was playing that deep because he was trying to figure out who was going vertical.
    The apex is carrying the #2 vertical as he was supposed to.
    When the #2 goes over top of the #3, the mike tries to wall off the inside, in case it’s a deep dig. When no one breaks in early against this coverage, the mike ends up just playing the seam. That’s why it looks so muddy.
    The apex carries the #2 vertically just like he’s supposed to.
    The safety recognizes that the #2 is bracketed by the mike inside, so he flips back across to the #3, because he realizes that no one’s covering him.
    And the corner just takes the #1
    The mike and apex aren’t supposed to switch tho. That’s why you see 13 hesitate after the #2 and #3 cross. They only did it because both players had a leverage advantage.
    Definitely a more exotic coverage, and one that can definitely be exploited if you know it’s coming. It’s hard to hold up for that long in scat protection, but if you hold the weak side safety low, bait the apex deep with a post from the #2, and run a delayed dig with an outside stem from the #3, you can usually bait the mike into dropping deep and giving up an alley for the #3. I think that’s what LSU was trying to do, just using a switched stem concept with the #2 and #3 for eye candy.
    Who knows tho I’m not in those meetings and it could be something completely different

    I know nothing about reading defenses and things like that but I do watch enough football and I’m just curious, why is it in the nfl you see some receivers sit in that zone coverage when they have yards of open space ahead of them. Like that just seems like the normal thing to do. Where in college I’m seeing the receivers like run deeper into the coverage. Is that drawn up in the nfl for them

      There is never a sure thing with evaluating QBs. Just because someone is adamant about a QB prospect only means they don't realize this certainty. Pickett was also a 5th year Senior and had appeal. He just looked more comfortable, but I still had Sam Howell as QB1 based solely on arm talent. This kid doesn't have arm talent. That's going to hurt him in the NFL. He is throwing to NFL receivers and me misses easy layups. He gets knocked out of the game with a garden variety sack. Bad omen.

      Even with the bias, nothing on tape stands out. This kid is meh. I went back to compare him to RG3. Not even close. RG3 was electric and had a whip of an arm. (Drake Maye doesn't take the safe flat option) "He's playing hero ball." (Jayden Daniels doesn't take the safe flat option) "I can't hold that against him, I don't know what he's being coached on".
    "Lazy routes". Daniels is throwing to two 1st round talents, Maye's throwing to maybe a 2nd round receiver?
    I definitely feel a lack of consistency in these reviews.

      It's complete bias. Maye rolls to the left, and all of his guys are covered. Jayden Daniels can't even dump the ball off to a running back to his left. All I hear is LSU coaches and receivers are bad. Actually calling D1 players lazy. Damn! It's hilarious. Jayden is a sure fire bust. He's a 5th year Senior with an average arm. That's essentially a backup QB.

    • @Waveistar
      @Waveistar 9 місяців тому +1

      what in the world have you been watching that he has an "average" arm LMAO
      also, he was absolutely right to say there were lazy routes, "D1 players" are still college age dudes at the end of the day, they are ABSOLUTELY taking plays off, and that's the story the film tells. several of the route schemes were also OBJECTIVELY bad, leading to poor spacing that will, by design, not be an issue in the NFL.
      also, if you're going to bring up the high talent level of his receivers, you have to also consider the fact that he's playing Alabama. Maye is playing NC fucking State and wake forest.
      Jayden is less than a year older than Caleb Williams.
      confused where your animosity towards Kurt is coming from on this one, are you Drake Maye's dad or something? his girlfriend?

    The argument is that Jayden Williams is a #1 or #2 pick in the entire NFL draft. I haven't seen anything in this content to show that he's elite. He's making throws that any QB, no matter if they are starters or third string QBs can make. I did watch this game, and it was better than the FSU game until he was knocked out. Unlike the Drake tape, his receivers are schemed open. He misses a 5 yard pass any highschool QB should make and you blame the receiver who may have been a running back. We'll see in a year. Doesn't look good for him. He telegraphs where he's going with the ball. NFL defensive backs are going to have a field day. Lol.

    I see multiple interceptions if he performs like this in the NFL. He throws into double coverage. Bad decision for a 5th year QB. He was benched the year before. He's a 3rd round developmental QB whose ceiling is Tyrod Taylor. His receivers are so talented they get the secondary entire focus which opens up his running game. Nothing special. I pray he goes to Washington to be the next Trey Lance 2.0.

      And double coverage knacks are such a casual film study conclusion. His running game is elite and trying to say it’s a product of his receivers is foolish. Yes part of it is contributed to that but his mobility in the pocket and once hes In space has nothing to do with receivers.

      @@darrendipiro3704 he's in a schemed offense and lacks ability to read offenses. Anyone, who can run a 4.6 40 can take off when all of the receivers and secondary are expecting a throw. NFL will load up the box and force him to read defenses which he can't. He will follow the Kaepernick/Mariota career path. He's coupled to Kliff, unless he learns how to become an NFL QB. His traits don't transfer well at all. He's not a sub 4.5 burner.
