@@Ol2Stroker Thank you. Dad also had a couple trucks that looked like yours. Only i think they were maybe a year or two newer. I'll have to ask my husband what those smaller GMC trucks were and how old they were. It was def in the 70's when he had his small Trucking Co. Here in Nj. And it was ALWAYS only GMC's with Detroit's! Except for one old IH Cabover. But it too had a Detroit! Back then he and my soon to be husband always debated over Detroit's Cummins, and Caterpillars. The good ole days! lol

Classic old Jimmy for sure , we have an event out here in the northwest takes place at Woodburn dragstrip in Oregon, the truck that dominates usually is the cornfield Corvette Older International with V12 Detroit power definitely twin turbos with Allison automatic you can check it out on UA-cam

Thank you brother for keeping her alive 2 stroke diesel American Muscle badass I seen another UA-cam diesel channel the other day they took a good running 2-stroke in a cab over the didn't look that bad and made it run away till it blew up not that it is matter want to let them know how stupid I thought they were for destroying a perfectly good running engine for what matter what kind of motor is especially a to truck stroke Detroit it just stupidity I told them if that's the type of people that you gather on your Channel I would not want to be associated with them maybe I'm wrong but to destroy something for no reason at all does not set well with me but anyway I enjoy your videos I just stumbled on it washed if you and I do like your videos and I did subscribe and I look forward to the next video

I see . Race truck yes shifting manually is king. But perhaps getting to the finish line quickly with a automatic. Then manually shift it . Into the power range of the two stroke Detroit.
Automatics aren't allowed to compete
Heard of them twisting that main shaft. I was driving a old lowboy truck that had the second brownie in it to make low enough gearing to tow our logging tower for yarding trees in to a landing. Boss had told me not to walk on it too hard as I had enough power this way but the transmissions did not have the ability to take it so going as easy as I could, got into a tight switchback and just needed a little bit to get through the turn... we were going to hook a third truck if needed to get it up on top of this mountain. I did not listen close enough, gave it a touch too much and shit flew... scattered that brownie all over the ground n the drive shaft between the two brownies even got caught up into making pieces fly... my bad.. only fourteen at the time... I'm seventy two now so go figure

Not really. Need to leave on boost so it doesn't bog. Could probably slip clutch a little more but that's not easy on parts either

Hey man I'm in Massachusetts right near by and looking for a Detroit shut off flapper you by chance have any it's for an old c500 kw with a 6-71 thanks and I've been to your buddies in East h was almost going to buy a dt407 block off of him but opted to just go with the dt466 and be done lol

Not really David. The A class is what Jason is in and there is no horsepower or turbo limits but no injectables allowed other than water.
That's a beautiful GMC oldie. Do you use regular diesel for racing? Are there different types of diesel fuel like gasoline does?
Yes regular diesel. No different types to my knowledge.

It's an rt910 at the moment but not for much longer lol. Should be about 1500hp but never been on the dyno

I picked up a 78 k100 it currently doesn't have a engine came with a 6v92 would like to upgrade when I purchase a new motor what's your opinion on a good Detroit starting point was thinking the 8v92 military turbo version? And what can I do to get more power

@@Ol2Stroker just a modest 6 to 650 something drive able it's mainly for show but I will run it in the summer it's got 110,000 original miles I think the millitary version is 450? Stock

Military versions are usually 475-500. 600 is easily attainable with an injector change

Why the "burn outs"?..... hard on the rears, torque arms and shafts, and the tires are not compounded like the racing "slicks" we use in drag racing. However, if he really likes spending more money than he needs to on broken parts from doing the burnouts... then at least have him get a hold of Bandag and have them put on their "Slick caps"... no thread... that would at least stop a lot of the "hopping" and bouncing around during the burnout, and are actually compounded a bit "softer" than than the threaded tires, giving them more bite at the hit, when he launches it off the line. Spinning the tires at the launch is wasting precious seconds.
Great old 950(?) GM from the 50's... what's the frame from? Do the rules say that he "Has" to run a "Transmission"?? Is he allowed to stiffen the suspension any?..... if so, that would sure help with all the wheel hop, as well. Which injectors is he running?.... which blower?
Injectors are 250s. Frames original from cab forward dunno what the rear cutoff is.

Yup. Starts in 7th then shifts to 8 and 9 around 3700

Why is he running lugger tires trying to drag race, cant he see the truck bouncing, that's what screwed up the transmission, put some dam steering tires or trailer tire on it, its not rocket science guys come on?
