Partner told me about your channel - LOVE it. Thanks for doing this; I learned quite a bit.

Very cool play on hand #5! Also thanks for explaining that it was a line of play for IMP play, but not recommended for matchpoint scoring.

Stef Meijer suggested an even better line.

On board 5 I played for E to have S length and the HA and so I didn't cash the 3rd S. Run clubs, unblock SQ and make 5. While unsuccessful I think that line is %.

What hand shape are you playing for east such that there is no way west can win the hearts?

@@BridgeWithPete My line gains if E started with exactly 5 spades and the ace of hearts (with any length) and the clubs run. I make 11 tricks. At trick 11 (after ducking the first trick and then winning 1D, 2S and 6C) I'm in dummy with S J H xx and my hand is H Kxx. If either opp has pitched a S on the run of the C, I can safely cash the SJ now and pull the last outstanding S and play a H towards the K for the 11th trick. (At trick 12 at your table in this hypothetical, E just keeps his good spade (that was set up at trick 5) and HA and takes the last 2 tricks.)
If I haven't seen any S on the run of the clubs (incredibly unlikely imo the way that BBO bots defend) then I do have to guess whether or not to risk it for the biscuit in the end position (by playing for E to have bared his HA, in which case I exit a H and E must put me back in dummy with the SJ) but I'm no worse off and can always chicken out and cash the SJ at that point regardless, ending up in the same position as you'd have been in if clubs had run.
Alternatively, if you have more confidence in the bots' pitching in such a way as to maximize your discomfort than I do, you can simply play E for the HA and NOT unblock the SQ (or perhaps best of all, decide whether or not to unblock it on the last club, having given them lots of chances to pitch another S already.) I think deciding which is the 'best line' depends on whether you think it's more likely that W (who started with 7 diamonds) has the HA or that E (who started with 1 diamond and pitched a spade on the 2nd one) started with exactly 5S (we know he started with 3, 4 or 5 spades once both opps follow to SAK.)

@@jonathanferguson9226 Yep decent play for 11. I thought you meant it as a play if clubs didn't break.

On board number 6, possibly having my excitement for endplays boosted from the previous hand I actually chose the endplay and stopped drawing Trumps. Is this an inferior line that happens to work or is it actually the right play

I haven't analysed it but it seems bad if west has doubleton ten of hearts and gives west a trump promotion on the club ruff. Also if diamonds are 4-2 and west has doubleton queen and gets a trump promotion and only helps if east has the king of spades which seemed less likely.

really nice to make it on board 5, I failed to ever realize I had a chance (not playing spades when I needed to).
Looking at your play, there appears to be a much better line though... overtaking that second club in dummy and leading a heart up. Then you make whenever East has the Ace.

    • @BridgeWithPete

Yeah that would be a real nice line.

I hadn't even realized until I read your comment that I was right there, I was on the board and if I had led a heart I would have made it, but unaware of the possibilities I cashed my other top club and the moment was gone.

Right! Peter's line fails unless West has exactly the 4 (or ace) of diamonds. Overtaking works because dummy has the 9 of clubs.

Board 5. When playing the 2nd club. Would it have worked overtaking in dummy and the leading a heart from dummy. You are always down if west has the ace of hearts but not expected on this bidding. This still end plays east in clubs. A9 over T8

    • @BridgeWithPete

Yep, I missed the power of the club 9. That is a really good line.

On board 8 after East won the king of clubs and returned a second diamond you can both try the heart finesse and the club finesse if you play a heart to dummy before cashing the king of spades. You have to preserve your entries to your hand because the hearts will be blocked should West go in with the king of hearts and return a third diamond.

Board 3, I picked a bad time to forgo the practice of broadening the range of 1NT hands and paid for it when the opponents got to an unbeatable 2S.
Board 6, I chose the admittedly inferior sequence of 1H then 2H then 3H and my CHO punished me with a voluntary 4H bid right into the jaws of a red card from East.
Board 7, sadly it's rare that a show-up squeeze lets you drop an honor offside (even more so against bot defenders who would never bare an honor deliberately in this way), though it is truly sweet when it happens.

Thanks for all these great videos.
On board 5, I ducked the first and second diamond, and W switched to a spade. After cashing 3 spades, I reasoned that E had to have Ace of hearts, else, with an entry, W would have continued diamonds. Also, E would not have 6 hearts, else with AJxxxx or AQxxxx or AQJxxx, he would have bid 2H. So clubs don’t break, as W has 1 club max (if it’s the T, no problem). So now cash diamond A, club and overtake second club, then small H towards the K, which E ducks, so H back to E and wait for return. Same line but the spade switch at trick 3 gave the game away, literally.
