As I said before, I wasn't born until 1990, so I never watched the Pac-Man cartoon when it first came out. But I do remember watching the Christmas special for the show when I was a kid in the 90s. I've also been watching episodes of the show recently on UA-cam. Speaking of shows based on video games, since you mentioned Saturday Supercade, I hope you plan on doing a video regarding it.
Never missed an episode as a kid. Great show, and incredible voice cast. I remember Marty Ingels from The Phyllis Diller show, and he was PERFECT as Pac-Man.
I'm legit shocked at the star-studded cast and their other work! like the VO for the big bad landing an important role in the first metal gear solid, (easily one of my favorite playstation games of all time!) I never knew! Pac-Man was probably one I remember watching back in the day alongside D&D, Pole Position and the other supercade stuff!
Pole Position!! Blast from the past. YES, I'm still blown away by the voice talent and was equally, pleasantly, surprised with the Metal Gear Solid connection. I've been playing it on my PS1 since recording this video 😆
I find it interesting how much this cartoon influenced the game series going forward. Without this cartoon, Pac-Man may have never left the maze, or the 1980s.
I never missed a single episode of this series as a child. I remember coming very close to having to miss one due to a doctor's appointment, but my grandma taped in on beta for me. I now own the 2 box sets of this cartoon series.
Also the second and third cutscenes of the original arcade game, you got to see what was under Blinky’s red sheet. Hence, monsters. So H-B was TECHNICALLY-correct, THE BEST KIND, of correct!
Another thing is the reason the male Ghost Monsters all have different hats was so the animators could keep track of which Ghost Monster was in what scene before they added the color in.
I have my own joke about one basically similar thing versus the other based on Pacman and the commercials for Ms Pacman in the 80s where the character proclaimed "...I'm not just Pacman with a bow...!"! That's Watch Mojo versus Ms Mojo in current times! Haha!
I would purchase the pac man cartoons if they were still around, i loved watching the show when i was a kid. I always loved seeing pac man get chomped on😂
I watched the pacman cartoon when I was a kid and I also had the pacman board game, I have the newer pacman board game now, I also had the pacman cereal when I was a kid as well, I wish that they would still have that cereal around but they don’t, also I had the pacman LP as well, the one with the story on it, I have a pacman picture LP which is cool but I enjoyed the pacman cartoon every sat morning whenever I would get wake up, Saturday SuperCade was a cool cartoon back then……
i was like you. i did watch pac-man cartoon as a kid in the 80s. i did own the board game as well. i had the pac-man game for the atari 2600. & my mom picked up the pac-man soap set me for me as well.
Sooooo ... you were a pretty big Pac-Man fan? 😆 That's so awesome! Am I dreaming, or did the back of the Pac-Man cereal box double as a board game at one point?? You seem like the person to ask.
@@NostalgAK Yes I’m a big fan of pacman and I think there was a game on the back of the cereal box back then but not sure, I just wanted my mom to buy the cereal so I could eat it and I use to have a pacman sleeping bag too, I have the coleco pacman and I had the pacman LP it’s the one for kids, it was cool too….
As far as the ghost monsters go, I have a theory about their true nature. They are in fact... possessed chewing gum. Here me out. In the cut scenes of the first game we see Blinkey loose his sheet (wrapper?) He is a small pink blob. Later, in Pacman 2: the New Adventures and also in Pac In Time we see the Ghost Witch, leading the ghost gang. Her grand scheme? The creation of an abc gum monster, who appears in both games. With that in mind, Blinkey's sheetless form suddenly resembles a chewed piece of gum. The eyes represent its spiritual aspect, which has to return to the ghost house for fresh gum in order to interact with the world of the living.
@@RetroDaze My guess is the spirits driving the gum have problems with the living. Alternatively, perhaps pac dots are really Pacman eggs, Pac-man practices extreme population control, and the ghosts, understanding death more than most, are on a pro Pac-life rampage.
@RetroDaze Maybe, but Lorenzo is by far the most popular Garfield voice. He provided the voice through the Golden Age of Garfield, from his early TV Specials through the whole run of Garfield and Friends.
@RetroDaze By the way, I watched Dave Lee Down Under's video, Evolution of Garfield and from there I found out that Frank Welker did voice Garfield in the French American CGI Series, The Garfield Show. Definitely not as popular as the early Garfield specials and Garfield and Friends TV Show, and both Welker and Bill Murray when he voiced Garfield in the movies more or less imitated Lorenzo's voice. Let's face it, Lorenzo Music IS the voice of Garfield. I can't read a Garfield comic to this day without hearing Lorenzo's voice. Oh, and Thom Huge is the voice of Jon Arbuckle.

That's a GREAT idea! Let me run it by the boss ;)

Can’t think of Pac-Man now and NOT hear that voice.
A TRUE fan! Seriously ... I feel the need to repeat myself ... that voice cast was RIDICULOUS

It definitely took the following games in new directions, including side-scrolling games!

That’s an awesome memory! Pac-Man taped on a BetaMax tape!
You were DEDICATED!! Props to Grandma for making sure you didn't miss your favorite show. That's love right there!
loved this show
Ditto!!
On the original PacMan Arcade Cabinet they were called Ghost Monsters. Also the Power Pellets were called Energizers.
Energizers? That’s hilarious! 😆
Also the second and third cutscenes of the original arcade game, you got to see what was under Blinky’s red sheet. Hence, monsters. So H-B was TECHNICALLY-correct, THE BEST KIND, of correct!
I loved pac man
A legendary part of our childhoods
They were literally called monsters on the arcade instructions of Pac-Man.
Probably the shape, having no legs, gave more of a ghost feel to them.
Well, there ya go! I don't believe I've ever read the instructions to Pac-Man ... or any game for that matter 😂
Usually love the cartoon
It’s not bad, for what it is.
Couldn't go wrong with it :) time well spent
I never watched the show, I only watched an episode once on the internet it's a little good.
It was more entertaining back then and at a certain age. Doesn’t hold up real well now.
Not bad. Not great. Somewhere in the middle. Always entertained me :)
Another thing is the reason the male Ghost Monsters all have different hats was so the animators could keep track of which Ghost Monster was in what scene before they added the color in.
That makes sense. 🖋️

😆 We’re you disappointed you couldn’t play as a ghost in the game?
@@RetroDaze the fun would be trying to outrun pacman and hide, I guess 🫣😅
The cartoon was part of a lineup which included Richie Rich and the Little Rascals.
Richie Rich is one of those cartoons we tend to forget about.
@@RetroDaze So is animated Little Rascals.
You’re right! Funny how many classic shows got animated series.
CLASSICS!
To be fair, in the little episodes between rounds, the ghosts are shown to have body parts I.E. legs under their sheets.
So then they’re monsters disguised as ghosts? We need this resolved! 😆
Do legs = Monsters?! We need a definitive definition 😀
I have season 2 uploaded on my channel. For some reason all of season 1 except 1 episode got blocked but none of season 2 was blocked.
That’s odd. Then again, we’ve basically given up trying to understand anything about UA-cam.

There was sooo much great merch out there featuring Pac-Man. Seems like the cereal was a bit like Kix but with marshmallows if memory serves.

What a frightening scenario for Pac-Landers. 😆

Garfield was voiced by Lorenzo Music, not Frank Welker.
