    It's nice that HP uses all standard motherboard connections. Case is well designed and I have used HP cases for many of micro ATX builds.

    How do I get my case open on my HP Pavilion? It doesn't have screws to unscrew. In the place where your tower has screws, mine has Rivets. Do I have to break the rivets to get the case off? Have you ever dealt with a tower that only has rivets instead of screws?

    I have a very similar pc yet my front panel does not come off that smoothly. It has the same three clips but after unclipping them the other side of the front stays flush and strong, and I feel wrong forcing it, so I cannot remove it :(

      I have a HP Pavilion Desktop - 500-443ng and only recently I have tried to remove the mainboard only to find out that it needs an adapter cable for my PSU which bridges the 4 pin power supply connector that leads to the CPU. While my mainboard is the HP 2AF7, the mainboard in this video too has a 4pin plug as you can see @5:11 if you pause the video. My modular PSU doesn't have such a connection. Seems like they sell outdated technology. Here is a reference that shows the 24pin, 8pin and 4pin power supply connectors upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e6/ATX_Power_connectors_24pin_8pin_4pin_Motherboard.jpg
      The disassembly procedure was practically the same as in this video (you don't need a drill only a screwdriver set). The cables were the same except for the multimedia card reader in the front which I didn't even manage to remove. The only thing you need to unscrew is the HDD ... and the mainboard of course.

    • @mxkdt

      Hi, yes it is possible to remove 5.25" drive cage if you want..

    • @greatwavefan397
      @greatwavefan397 2 роки тому +1

      @@mxkdt Would that also include removing the Pocket Media Drive and the card readers?
      I'm asking because I have an HP Pavilion I consider modding. For some hard drive coolers, it seems I don't have to remove the top drive bay and I can just slide it in.
      As for the Pocket Media Drive, I could probably replace it with thinner 5.25" gadget like an optical drive, fan controller, etc. If I can make space for a third full-height 5.25" bay, I can place a larger drive cage, and thus a larger cooler, as well.

      They are hard to come by but in the last two weeks I won two on ebay one without a hard drive for $122 and with a hard drive for $240 (total w/shipping taxes etc.). So, I am set on hardware for the next 5 years I plan on using it. There is nothing out there I am willing to lay $1500 on out there that beats this 6 core processor with 16 ram worth it. Runs every game and program seamlessly without even upgrading the graphics card.

    saving all the major hardware, video card, hard drive, Optical drive and motherboard (intact) transfer contents to a new case and reassemble! take out any chassis fans and save them for later... save the power switch assembly and the wifi antenna.... trash the card reader and the entire chassis.... HP="Horrible Product" I just did this with a P7-1148 and put the contents into a Rosewill chassis and it looks so much better and works just fine.... I hate HP and Dell Chassis as they are always Propriatary! even the boards are questionable until you discover that they are made by ASUS for HP.... oh yeah, and don't forget to transfer the PSU.... its still usable!
