    UPDATE Aug 11, 2020: RIP Trini Lopez. An incalculable loss for the music industry. Thank you for the music, the guitars which bear your name, and your story.
    GOB Bluth Voice I've made a huge mistake. Nah, just kidding. I finally scored a Gibson Trini Lopez after years of pining for the model, and wouldn't you know it, it also happens to be a rare one at that. This video has background info on the model and its namesake, as well as FOUR demos!

    I get a kick seeing Trini Lopez as a topic since I use to sit and listen to (Kansas City) in my moms 45s collection back in the 70s as a kid. I’m a big fan of the diamond f holes, but I always had a hard time with the headstock, now I get it.

    That impression was about an 8.5/10 to be honest and that’s a high compliment because it’s not an easy impression to do. What made your impression so impactful is that by the second word, I knew exactly who you were impersonating. That’s the decider-if the audience can’t tell by the second word, then the impression is faulty. You nailed it. Also, kudos for the Star Trek TNG reference. Unlike Lt Worf, I AM a merry man.

    Thanks so much for this very informative video with some background on the Legendary Trini (RIP).
    I actually won this guitar in a UA-cam giveaway from El Estepario Siberiano, the spanish drum God who is already a living legend due to his incredible speed and ability to play difficult known drum parts with only one hand while casually having a drink with the other.
    My curiosity to learn more about the beautiful guitar I had just won led me to your video sadly announcing your parting ways with it and that brought me this one.
    I like your content and subscribed for more.
    Thanks again Mike 🤘😎

    We have a Barney Kessel Trini model at Norm’s! Super wicked guitar, I assume a previous owner was named Victor because the pick guard has “VICTOR” across it lol. You’re right, most evil looking jazz box in the world. Your Trini is also rad, congrats!

    Sweet! I agree a bigsby would really make it (for me) but understand the hesitation. Too bad there’s no bigsby with the Trini Lopez rosewood inlay, that would be awesome!

    • @Puisheen
      @Puisheen  4 роки тому

      Miles I have been looking at the Bigsby and trying to figure out a way to make that work, believe it or not. The plaque is just adhered to the wood, so it's easy to pry off. Now I'm wondering if I could get TK smith to make a B7 with the right shape back there... This is a good idea. I just gotta work up the courage to install the thing!

    Yes yes yes YES yes yes.

    I've always (for the past.... twenty-ish years) been playing with the idea of popping a bigsby on my Hamer 335-style guitar... maybe I'll do it out of solidarity.

    I feel your pain as respects color selection of your TL model guitar. Here is what you must do: You MUST locate ‘Clown Barf’ sheet plastic, you know the multicolored plastic picks from the mid ‘60s? You make a gorgeous pick guard of ‘Clown Barf’ , and to do a tribute to Trini and that ethnic community at large, you perform 200-300 of your fave Elvis songs
    ……I N. S P A N I S H!!!

    • @johngeddes7894
      @johngeddes7894 Рік тому

      It might be in everybody’s best interest if you kept a very strong “American” US accent on your Spanish pronunciation out of respect. Perfect diction in that regard might well lose its folksy appeal.

      Offsets are totally my thing but I have always adored semi-hollow guitars. I do blame my love of Oasis for that, but yeah, that sound is just so compelling for me. What's up with your 335???

    • @dylanclay5267

      Puisheen bridge position everything’s fine. Middle position there’s a loud pop/crackle. Neck position has almost no output. I’m guessing it needs a new switch.

    Sweet guitar man! I have a 335 with a bigsby that is my main squeeze. I find stop tail Semi-Hollows just not as inspiring as the vibrato ones, love that extra string length at the back and the effect on slinkiness :)

    • @Puisheen
      @Puisheen  4 роки тому

      Gary I am STILL staring at the Bigsby and trying to work up the courage. I love them, I'm just so afraid to put holes in this thing, which is weird because I've haphazardly put holes in everything else I own. What is happening to me? Oh! And yes, the trapeze contributes to the feel for sure, and I think the combo of that and the headstock are why I feel so at ease with the guitar. String path is a lot like a Jazzmaster!

    • @garyjovanovitch3863
      @garyjovanovitch3863 4 роки тому +1

      @@Puisheen I'm definitely sitting on the fence regarding that, so I understand your apprehension of not going ahead with it. I think the rarity for me would be the biggest speed bump - but with that in mind I'll always prioritise making music over potential resale value. It took years for me to decide to bite the bullet on my 335, as soon as I strummed a chord and added some vibrato I felt regret that I didn't do it sooner!
      I know you've mentioned in the past you like Oasis, definitely check out early Suede albums if you haven't, Bernard Butler is synonymous with the ES-Bigsby combo in the UK! :)
