Such a genius, the only man I know ever to have written every thing he starred in on his own without the production team or anyone knowing it, he would write it and post it in as anonymous, only at the end of his career in each staring role, would he stand up and say now for the person who wrote the script, oh yes, as they say you must look in the mirror, it was me. Nobody would believe him but later it became evident, he knew every sty;e of comedy and now the only 2 classics we have left are David Jason and Dennis Watermann well not comedy but a legend who played with the O.G of none comedy roles in British history, namely George 'Arthur Daley' Cole.

We were invited to the Green Room for a drink, and I remember us watching the highlights of an England-Switzerland match together on the telly, Strange the things you remember.

I was only 11 in 1979 when I heard on the news about Richard Beckinsale passing away. I just couldn't believe it because he was only 31 at the time. He'd literally just finished making the Porridge feature film with Ronnie Barker.
Some months later, at an awards ceremony, Ronnie Barker won an award & the 1st thing he did was pay tribute to Richard Beckinsale. He could barely finish his speech because he was so devastated at him passing away at such a young age

DJ doesn't take his eyes off RB the whole time. He knows just what greatness he is in the presence of, how privileged he is to be there and, more poignantly, that the great man was coming toward the end of his life. Such reverance, respect and love. I've clocked up at least a dozen of the 47,000 views so far, and it still gives me goosebumps. The adulation from the public goes without saying, but the adulation from his peers is truly something special. What luck indeed but not for him - for us.

Ronnie Barker was pure gold, everything he done was the best and the stuff he came up with was just amazing. We will never get writing calibre like him ever again. The only thing i'm annoyed about is the fact i was not around when it was all going out for the first time, i missed out on a lot of great TV.

Very nicely said. From someone who did see it first time round, (I'm 67) it was more than just the comedy itself, it was that connection with our Grandparents (or parent in my case) too, that made them such unforgettable memories. You're very young to have lost your Dad, I'm sorry to hear that, though I'm glad you have those precious memories, because they will stay with you forever & bring you wonderful comfort. Take care 😌

This makes me cry, bless him. Three of THE BEST of British comedy!! You can truly see the love they feel for each other. What fantastic talent. My childhood was fond memories of The Two Ronnies and Only Fools.

What an absolutely wonderful and moving clip of the late Ronnie Barker. It was sad to see that Ronnie's health was obviously failing. Yet, he still had his sparkling wit. The world needs more The Two Ronnies. Thanks Ronnie for all the laughter and love.

Just a brilliant actor. Ronnie Corbett said that he and Ronnie Barker, whilst friends, didn't have the "chemistry" to stand and talk like Morecambe & Wise which is why they focused on sketches and things instead. Every interview you see where the great David Jason mentions "the guv'nor" you can see just how much respect and warmth he had for that man. Three stalwarts of British acting both comedic and otherwise.

What a lovely, authentic and beautiful speech - he spoke so naturally, easily, confidently and genuinely - God rest your soul - dear Ronnie, you were naturally funny here as well. Such a posh accent, used to hearing him as Fletcher.

This was so moving. The word "great" is so overused these days but Ronnie Barker truly was. I don't think there was a comedy role that he couldn't play. He is right up there with the best that this country has produced. A comedy genius if ever there was one. If I had to name one entertainer who should have been knighted,he would be the one. I doubt we will ever see his like again. One of the all time greats and a true gentleman. A comedy legend. RIP Ronnie.

What a legend :) One of the funniest I've seen in my lifetime and yeah I choked up a bit at the end too. I think all three of them realized he was quite poorly at the time and new it was a special moment for all of them x

This speech is the best ever acceptance. Definitely bought lots of emotion and tears, I don't know him, just goes to show that a truly genuine person can have profound effect. I have the dvd box set of the 2 ronnies, absolutely brilliant English writing and humour.Sadly no more gems left in this world.
