- Scanned at 4k, this is a sample from my own personal 35mm print of the 1977 film Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure. This reel isn't in the best of shape and is missing some footage! Previously we scanned a different print in SD in 2007. Any widescreen transfer of this film you've seen came from us here at The Thief Archive.

I miss film. Projectors. Film damage. Inspecting reels & watching for the reel-change dots &manufacturer's splices on late Thursday nights...protectionist during college in mid 90s... Love it all. I miss it.
I really do appreciate the talent and effort that went into this film's animation. It may look a little messy at times, but it's still miles above most of the other animation from the '70's, and besides, with Art Babbit, Emery Hawkins and Grim Natwick (I assume the twin dolls are his handiwork?) as animators, what could go wrong?
This looked amazing! I first got to see this film through your channel's release of the SD scan, and I loved it!
This NEEDS to have a FULL 4K restoration, it's just so beautiful and such a stunning feat for animation. It's a crime in and of itself that there's not even a proper current release of the film. I even feel terrible for missing a screening of a 35mm print in NYC
Is there currently any prospects for finding the missing footage from another print, or finding a better print entirely for the restoration?
Yes, I was thinking that, too! I really would like if they released this film on Blu-ray, in the same way which you described! I would buy it if it ever happened. Perhaps if another thing similar to the recobbled cut of The Thief and the Cobbler came out, or another release of Roger Rabbit, as a way of honoring Richard Williams!
I would love to play with color correcting this film if at all possible and even manually correcting some of the dust and dirt.
oh man, I really hope you finish the full HD remaster of this some time - this film deserves way better than a crappy pan-and-scan VHS tape for its legacy
true that
Except for one splice after the logo (missing the trees), that opening part was pretty good.
wow there was a lot of individual animators for specific characters in this film.
If it weren't for the grain, this would be absolutely gorgeous!
Funny question: if Disney owns a lot of Fox, is it humanly possible for Disney to give this a Blu-Ray release? If anything, they can at least use one of those half-truths to advertise it as "from the animation director of Who Framed Roger Rabbit", use the Fox label and sell copies that way. ...but that's not really a half-truth.
looks as good as it ever will
Was it really both widescreen and letterboxed? I mean it looks correct but I'm just asking out of curiosity
Nikodem R The aspect ratio is correct as seen here. A Cinemascope ratio. Thief and the Cobbler had the same.
Any chance we'll get the rest of the movie in HD?
We would need to get the rights to do this officially.
better than disney's musicals
Do you have the entire film in this quality? If so please do something similar to the Recobble where you restore the film and render it in HD
Will you ever upload the rest of the reel?
