I hope you guys can get back to NJ sometime! It’s such an underrated tiny state with a fun mixture of cultural influence from NYC+Philly. A 2 hour drive in any direction can get you to an adorable beachside town, the mountains, the Pine Barrens, or one of the best cities in the country. It’s so much better than its gridlocked highways you guys had the misfortune of experiencing! Hope you guys get home safe and have a happy holiday!

Yes stay as far south in New Jersey as you can and watch out for the scam where the state fines you 50 dollars for paying a toll in a cash/easy pass lane

As a New Jersey native, Who has moved to Nevada to escape harsh winters, it always makes me chuckle when people discover the glorious New Jersey Turnpike tolls. It really isn’t a bad state, it gets a bad rap. Once you get south of Newark it really starts to have a lot more going for it if you are not into city life. Safe travels folks happy holidays.

For people who might think it's doable to do 4 states in 4 days on an actual holiday, don't. Massachusets is already worth 3-7 days easy, even without Boston.

Yeah. I find it a bit sad that they aren't doing these smaller states justice. I'm not even from these states. I'd just like to learn more about them from a traveler's perspective, and not only see them eat food. I know there is a lot more to see and do in each of these states than what they're offering. If you need to get back home for Christmas, go back to those states after and see them properly. That's just how I see it.

Yeah I'm from Mass and I've gotta say...Provincetown is an interesting choice for a holiday trip lol. The cape is usually where a lot of people go during the summer, it's pretty empty this time of year. If I was them I would've stopped in Stockbridge. Now THATS a quaint little New England town, and perfect for Christmas time.

@@GAN-0 Spending even 2 nights in each of these states would only take about a week, maybe a little longer with drive time, and you could actually do a bit of sight seeing at whatever destination. Hence why it would make more sense to wait until the spring and spend time in the southern states now.

    1. Sandwich - named after the Earl of Sandwich, from the history books.
    2. The Cape is known for it’s Christmas Markets, and there’s even a regional chain store called The Christmas Tree Shop, that started as a Christmas Market.
    3. Rhode Island is known for it’s mansions, but the heart of Rhode Island is Pawtucket (emphasis on the tuck, for pronunciation), where the Industrial Revolution started. Lots of cool history there.

The strawberries I'm sure were fresh, they just do a process that my mom used to do in PA since I was a kid in the 60's. Put them in a bowl & sprinkle sugar over the top, put them in the fridge & the sugar softens the strawberries & the Berries start to break down & create a little juice into the bowl. Delicious❤️

Glad you went for real pizza in New Haven. Sally's, Pepe's, Modern are consistently Top 10 in the US. Officially it is "Tomato Pie", also Apizza (pronounced "abeets") which Frank Pepe brought over from Naples in 1925. It is the tomato sauce I love. The secret recipe is well-guarded and legend says, passed down on the deathbed. Afterward always go to Libby's next door for a cannoli and cappucino.
Just a tip - never drive on a Parkway with a truck or trailer - prohibited due to low bridge clearances 9-10ft. Garden State Pkwy has fewer restrictions than those in NY or CT.
They just widened Jersey Tpke another 30 miles further south. It is a quasi-public Authority toll road and all improvements are paid through tolling.

Glad you made to my home state, Connecticut. Of course a stop in New Haven for pizza is just what the doctor ordered. Mystic is a gem. While most of the seaport is closed down during the winter, come back in the summer and it’s hopping. If you’re into sailboating you can moor overnight and experience the museum grounds when closed to the general public. Glad you got a taste of New England. Happy Trails Eric and Allison 🎅👋🎉

Fun fact: the Biennale art museum in Venice Italy is housed in an old rope making factory, similar ( though larger) than the one at Mystic Seaport.

Good job with the quick New England tour - the "wellers" actually do look more appetizing - like an almost burned campfire hot dog is way better than one that is just warmed up. Hopefully you make it back to Missouri before Thursday (if you aren't already back by now), because it is sounding like we could have a really interesting winter storm moving in. Naturally, though, the St. Louis area is right on the dividing line of multiple inches of snow and almost none. But the nasty cold is coming either way.

Yall are so funny and fun to watch - and great editing and scenic pictures - your clips were not too long nor too short and I learned a lot. Thank you! I recently went to a wedding in Porsmouth, RI, [Sep 30, 2023] so decided to drive Wed from PVD , to Plymouth, Quincy, & Boston, Mass., Kittery, ME, through New Hampshire to Brattleboro, VT. Thursday from VT to Historic Deerfield, MA through Springfield and Hartford, CT staying in New Haven/Branford, CT. Friday to Yale and the Shoreline Trolley Museum in East Haven, then on to Madison, CT and up I-95 back to Portsmouth/Newport/Tiverton/Bristol, RI for the Fri/Sat/Sun Wedding and Festivities. I was so impressed with New England I plan to go back next year for a more 'detailed' trip with my sister. Really liked New Hampshire!!!

Johnnie Cakes my grandmother made for us grandkids and honestly none of us liked them at all but, her skillet cornbread was and always will be the best you’ve ever tasted especially buried in fresh butter and a bowl of soup beans (pinto beans with ham hock and a dollop of lard). Yes that’s right my Mom’s family was originally from the hills and hollers of KY almost on the Virginia line. I digress from Johnny Cake!

On a chilly night like this, your grandma's cornbread and ham hock soup sound like perfection! We can't say we'll be going out of our way to make/order johnny cakes anytime soon, so we hear you :)

I grew up a few miles from Rutt’s
Hut back in the 50s and 60s. Best hot dogs I ever had and darn good onion rings. Can’t handle that cold wet weather anymore so I’m down in
Florida now. Keep up the great videos!

Wow Rutt's Hut brings me back to childhood in NJ! very good hot dogs for sure, some of the best I've had. And Allison--cheese pizza is what's it all about!! Toppings just take away from the actual pizza!
