Percentage expansion by autoclave method is calculated taking into consideration the effective gauge length of specimen. Laboratory measures the effective gauge lengths of specimen before and after autoclaving using length comparator and a reference bar.
Effective gauge length is the inner distance between the both studd inserted in the specimen which can be measured with the help of Certified Reference Bar and calibrated length comparator.
