As per IS 456 Cube is checked for characteristic strength not for target strength so your officer is wrong.

SIR HOW TO GET DENSITY
density = mass / volume, for mass weigh the cube after curing and for volume = 7.06 *7.06 *7.06 =351.89cm3
so, for 1st calculation , 835 / 7.06*7.06*7.06 = 2.372 gm/cc
