- Today's video involves me screaming into the void about the silent DEATH AND END of Disney princes' and handsome male protagonists/side characters in general. Princes'/Characters like Naveen, Flynn Rider (Eugene), Aladdin, Shang, Kristoff, Prince Charming, Eric, & Phillips ARE ALL IN DANGER OF GOING EXTINCT IN TODAY'S CURRENT HOLLYWOOD CLIMATE OF NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT GENERAL AUDIENCES, *AND WOMEN*, WANT TO WATCH!!!

Starboy should have been a prince
Yes! He can be like the prince of the stars or smth
And Asha should’ve been a princess instead of the fairy godmother. ☹️
Fr 😭 wish had so many missed opportunities
@@GalaxyRoyal BRO FRR I heard somewhere that she could've been the daughter of the king and queen and it's just a big loss for us
@@GalaxyRoyal She could be both. Start off as a princess, then after she defeats her evil parents, marries Starboy, prince of the stars, she gains powers after their kingdoms unite, she then becomes the 1st ever fairy godmother.
Prince Naveen and Eugene (Flynn) are my gold standards for Disney Princes
In Croatian, Dr. Facilier is Magnifico while in Latin Spanish & Brazilian Portuguese, Flynn Rider is Magnifico.
While I like Naveen, I hope the dime-a-dozen pessimistic jerk like Flynn doesn't become the standard for Disney princes.
And Cinderella's prince in Cinderella III

I get that not every disney film needs to be a love story.
But there is nothing wrong with having love interests in the story. What made Elemental a new classic is because Wade and Ember grew together. Their love story was both of theirs. One does not lessen the other.
Once I heard about Starboy and how the duet at the beginning of the movie was Asha’s duet with Star, I lost my mind. I wanted to see this. It would have been adorable.
I also hate that some companies feel that the only way to empower the women is to diminish the men. That feels sexist to me. Not all men are the toxic men that take over the spotlight and everyone deserves to see good male role models.
Agreed!
Why does kids movies have to have romance? Marriage and dating is for adults. Not something kids should worry about. It is nice there is less romance on newer films. If they want a male character in a princess movie they can make the boy a friend or a brother.
@@vixxexo6855 but even as kids, we like seeing girl and guy fall in love, just in a different way than adults do.
When I grew up watching the Renaissance films, I enjoyed seeing Aladdin and Jasmine falling in love. Same with Hercules and meg and Jane and Tarzan. It was another form of escape. I just saw it in a different way.
Think of how kids play with dolls. Sometimes they have the dolls be friends and some bring in the prince/boy dolls with the girls or however they see them.
While I agree kids are too young to think of love like adults do, there is nothing wrong with the cute escapism of seeing PG love on screen.
Also Disney films have always been family films. They are not just for kids.
@@vixxexo6855 love is natural, it is not "an adult thing"
Did you mistook love with pedophilia by any chance? Your way of talking give that vibe.
@@voca-voca9469 I am a teenager, not 80 year old man. Also I bet such people would want kids movies to have explicit content and not the opposite.
I have an idea for a movie. A prince meets the heroine and likes her but doesn’t pursue her because he thought she was the type of woman who wasn’t interest in marriage just because she is so strong and independent. But then as the story progresses, he learns that the heroine wanted him, too.
I'd say the dads from Encanto are almost like Disney Princes to me because of how dashing and loving they are to their wives but that's not really enough. I was so disappointed that Starboy was scrapped from Wish, I really missed old Disney romance. Sure, not all Disney stories need to be romantic but surely some could...
YES!!! The dad's from Encanto were ✨EVERYTHING!!!✨
Eugene actually is a canon prince by blood. He's the prince of the Dark Kingdom
I fell off the show towards the last season, isn't that the place where Rapunzel bestie (forget her name) went evil and got blue hair from the power of the moon or something???
@@TheVirtualCelebrity Yeah. Basically the bestie became Catra
@@TheVirtualCelebrity Yes. The king there is Eugene's birth father. His birth name is Horace 🤣

Nah, I noticed. Also kinda crazy that we only have 1 princess movie where the male is the main lead character (Aladdin). Unless we count Hercules.
Hopefully Disney learned from Wish that we are hungry for some romance now
Oh girl, TRUST, I have _noticed._ I HATE that the overboard-feminist culture has influenced Disney so much that they're acting like _wanting a man_ is a BAD thing! It's not even just that they don't want all their heroines to _need_ to be saved by a man, I get that. I CAN save myself, thanks. But they've gone _way_ further than that, and by removing all the romance from their movies, they're teaching kids that making a healthy relationship/marriage/family a _goal_ in your life is a bad thing! And it's NOT! Humans _need_ connection and relationship, that SHOULD be a goal for most people!!
I couldn't rant about this enough. I am so with you.
I'm a woman and I want the Disney princes and heroes to make a comeback.

Calling Prince Philip "handsy" when the number of anime where the guy accidentally (or deliberately) touches a boob or both, I think we can let him off with a warning.
He had to kiss Aurora to wake her up, it is not a question about him being "handsy".
@Furienna
Well, that's better than some of the original versions. Some of the classic versions have the princess wake to find she had had children while nonconcentually asleep.
A kiss doesn't seem as bad in comparison. Especially if it was needed to break the spell. In that case, I see it as kinda like mouth to mouth part of CPR. Not something you wanted, but it did save your I life.
@@wattsisnaim8111 Yeah, people need to learn that a kiss is actually cute compared to what happened in that version.
But I guess that it's more fun to complain at a powerful company than at an obscure book that most people haven't even heard about.
^^ She had WHAT!? WHILE ASLEEP!?!?
*_AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!_*
@@TheVirtualCelebrity What can I tell you except that things were different in the past?
if only star boy existed... he would've carried the entire prince line
I just don't understand how Disney and many other major production companies have completely lost touch with what the audience really wants. We tell them constantly. It's all over social media. But they all seem to think having a strong male role model in their movies means the female character will be weak and that's just not true.
A good story has all the major characters being strong as equals. When you artificially stomp down one to raise the other it just makes them both look weak. But if they are given the same or at least close to the same level of depth and development then both can shine.
Instead they blow out one candle hoping to make the other seem brighter and then wonder why the room got darker.
7:05 Thank you! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Say it louder for the people in the back! I’m tired of people bashing the older princesses. There is nothing wrong with getting help from others and there is nothing wrong with being feminine. You can both be feminine and be badass at the same time.
I cannot bring myself to watch Wish precisely for that same reason, IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO GOOD
The reason Princess And The Frog didn't do as well is because of the stigma of 2D animation. A lot of people saw it was 2D, and immediately assumed it was just for little kids and didn't give it a chance.
That and more people were going to see the Alvin movie sequel, and I'm pretty sure Disney didn't do the film justice in marketing.
the film was released at the same time as the first Avatar, the highest grossing film in history, it also affected the box office
As much I like powerful women I agree with you. You can do both and with good writing you can show how character development improves and makes character stronger
[May 30, 2024] 13:09 Actually there is a fanmade project which is basically a Wish rewrite called Alicia and the Kingdom of Starlight here in UA-cam. It's still not finished but it's so good!

Not to mention, NO DISNEY MUSICALS OF THE 21ST CENTURY HAVE HAD A MALE LEAD.
IDK does Flynn count? I think him and Rapunzel kind of share the lead role equally.
Not really he could be considered like half a lead.
Also Greatest Showman exists, the music's pretty darn good. Disney owns it at least.
@@chairliftphilospher5710 When I say "Disney," I'm referring excluaively to WDAS, so I don't count the greatest showman. @@vixxexo6855 romance isn’t “adult content” unless you make it sexual. Are you implying that relationships are entirely about sex and there’s no actual feelings in there? Because you’re the one making it weird, not people that want to see romance in a Disney movie
Honestly, while I like that we have strong independent princesses and girls, I miss seeing the romance and the hilarious yet charismatic princes.
When I found out that Wish was supposed to be a love story between Asha and a Starboy who looks really similar to Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians, as well as the possibility of a villain couple in King Magnifico and Queen Amaya, a part of me just died there.
Although, I did recover a but to laugh a little at the fact that Disney had an award winning concept for Wish in the first concept but they shot themselves in the foot.
Disney could have had their own version of Jack Frost which would have been crazy for the fans for a long time but they blew it.
I know the aspect of Romance and the female-lead having a love interest isn't everyone's cup of tea and I respect that but it would be nice if Disney did a romance once in a while and bring a fun and charismatic prince again.
I'll even admit that watching the some of overly done crazy shenanigans of characters like Marinette for her love interest to notice her and how dragged out it was though not entirely Disney related, really put me off Romance for but I still would love to see some love stories now and then.
I've wondered if Disney has ever considered trying a 'childhood best friends to lovers' situation.
Like say we get a princess and prince who've grown up together. The princess is unique, fun and adventurous, and the prince could be like a mix of Kristoph, Flynn and Naveen.
They've grown up together, go on an adventure together and maybe develop a romantic love for each other.
They could also try an 'enemies or rivals to friends to lovers' stroy with an almost badboy like prince who gas had quite an affect on princesses before but the lead princess us the first one to give him a run for his money much to his confusion and intrigue.
Try and tell me how this wouldn't have hilarious shenanigans.
It is really a powerful move that they had Queen Amaya stand up to her asshole of a husband who had brainwashed her into serving him.
That is much more meaningful to me than having a villain couple.
And it's clear that people had decided to hate "Wish" no matter what Disney did with it.
And it means that the same people still would have hated the movie even if Star had been more human and if they had a villain couple...
correction: the original draft/ concept art was romance...I'm still very confused by everyone's obsession with this...
@@Furienna yeah...I agree there
Since you mentioned Elena of Avalor in the last video, you should know that there are some well written male characters in that show too. Among the main cast is Elena's abuelo Francisco, the royal Wizard Mateo, royal guard Gabe, and Elena's cousin Esteban. Mateo, Gabe, and Esteban all have their own arcs too, with Esteban getting a whole season dedicated to his.
@wisegirl.loves.seaweedbrain I SHIP Mateo and Elena. Hard core!
Not mentioned in this video but they literally GOT RID OF SHANG in the live action Mulan
They brought back a new returning Disney villain in Wish but didn’t bother to bring back a new returning Disney Prince / Hero as they scrapped Star Boy for choosing Star mascot instead? Such a missed opportunity for the new *star* ⭐️ into the spotlight! 😂
i havent watched this video to the end(yet), but i think disney's become almost afraid of making a new romance after 2015. like we had the expectation subversion with prince hans, but post-frozen disney seems to be avoiding eye contact when it comes to making an in-depth romance. and while im glad to have stories like moana with no romantic subplots, but by now it feels like its disney "look at us, she doesn't need a man so we didn't make one!!"
if disney wants strong brave woman so badly why not flip the script and make a movie where instead of the princess being in a toxic family situation and somehow being saved by the prince they make a movie where the princess saves the prince from a toxic family situation
Honestly, if anyone is the least bit surprised that TVC wants more equal representation for male characters, they're clearly new here. Anyone who's ever seen a single Miraculous review from this queen knows how frustrated she gets at seeing Adrien pushed to the side in favor of Marinette
I sometimes feel that Miraculous could have been a better show if the love square bs was completely removed. It just feels like a waste of time when there's bigger things to worry about
In my whole life of seeing Disney merch, backpacks, tshirts, etc, I've only seen one Disney prince tshirt. I even had to stop the person wearing it and double take to make sure i was seeing it right.
because women sell take the sims for example sims youtubers rarely ever make male sims because pretty women get them clicks and in turn EA gives male sims less content it's essentially the same thing that disney is doing now princesses sell better than princes so they don't make prince merch and when they do they don't make very much of it
Lmfao! Omg!! 😭💀
Oh, I really like your points about Cinderella's and Snow White's storys, about surviving abuse. I just realized, that I depriciated that stories severely and even mocked their's old-fashioned points of view, when I shoulders have looked loser and realized, how important it is to learn from the past!
It's also cruel what they did to Flynn in that stupid TV series where they completely destroyed his character and reduced him to the dumb boyfriend side character in favor of Cassandra and gave all the development and emotional scenes to Rapunzel and Cassandra when in the movie it was about Rapunzel and Flynn, and they were completely equal and equally developed. They both saved each other, instead of one person doing all the saving. In the series Rapunzel just does all the saving! Also, in the movie they were dual protagonists and Flynn was just as important as Rapunzel. In the series Flynn is completely sidelined and the trauma he should have is never mentioned. Instead, it’s all about Cassandra. It’s because of frozen, they gave rapunzel a sister and focused only on the sister relationship while dumping down the boyfriend. It’s also because of stupid modern feminism where they always have to portray every man as a weak, stupid Idiot and every woman as a Mary Sue! That’s just turning the sexism around and discriminate men instead of women! I really hate that, Flynn deserves better!
What makes me feel worse about this stupid series is that I listened to the Tangled Songs and Story CD and there the narrator literally says at the end that Flynn mattered more to Rapunzel than anything which is true in the movie but definitely false in this stupid series. There it always seems Like Cassandra Matters more to her than Flynn and that makes the whole ending of the movie unbelievable where she was willing to sacrifice herself Just to save him because she Loved him so much. So it Just makes No logical Sense that she would suddenly Always Put a Person she met afterwards before him If she really loved him as much as in the movie. And I hate that she is such a hypocrite in the series who lets Cassandra Always insult him without saying a Word, keeps secrets from him, draws his face on a punching bag and never even apologizes and rejects his proposals but gets Mad when her supposed true Love for whom she wanted to Go to hell says Something against Cassandra. That is the Most toxic relationship I've ever Seen. And just imagine the roles were switched, imagine a guy would let his best friend constantly insult his girlfriend, keep secrets from her, draw her face on a punching bag just for his best friend and even reject her marriage proposal, then everyone would call it sexist and misogynistic and a toxic relationship. But when a guy is treated like that, it’s alright! It’s such a double standard and it’s ridiculous! Ugh, I hate modern feminism!
And it’s also completely unrealistic for the time period they live in to reject a proposal and then still be together. Back then you could only be together if you were engaged or married, that’s why all the princesses marry so early, it’s just fitting for the time period and I hate it when people criticize the other princesses for marrying so early when that’s only how things worked back then, you had to be married or engaged other else you couldn’t be together. And I hate it that she rejected his proposal and then was allowed to still date him in the series that’s not realistic for the time period. If you want a modern relationship you should let it take place in today’s time not the 18th century! And if the writers didn’t want her to be married yet they should have just let them be engaged at least. I hate how they portrayed marriage as a prison for rapunzel even though she loves him. Marriage only means you can’t break up with this person anymore and if she really loved him she wouldn’t consider a life with him as a prison. I mean this is the person for whom she was willing to give up her entire life! I just don’t get it!
And what I hate about the whole marriage Thing in this context is that they are basically saying that it's Not ok to marry someone whom you deeply and truly Love after a few months but it's OK to try to give up your entire freedom and basically your entire life for someone whom you Just met three days ago. If they Love each other that much that they would do Something Like that after only having known each other for a few days than their Love is so strong and true and then they could and should marry after a Short time Especially considering the time period the movie is Set where they could only truly be together after being married. And If Disney wanted to Show a couple Not marrying so soon they should have taken a different couple than Rapunzel and Flynn because they proved how deeply and truly they Loved each other after a few days and since they almost Lost each other it would make Sense that they wouldn't want to lose more time together after they saw how Short life can be and besides, their Story Takes place in a time where people married early. They should have rather Had Tiana and Naveen marry only after a few years because they dont seem Like they fit very well together and didnt try to die for each other after a few days and furthermore their Story Takes place in the 1920s, Not the 1700s. They would have been perfect for Not marrying immidiately, Not Rapunzel and Flynn who seem like the worst candidates for this in my opinion. And that whole rejecting marriage plotline is the worst Storyline I've ever Seen. They send the Message that marriage is a prison even though you Love each other and that is such a horrible Message. And it's Especially horrible how in the Episode beyond the Corona walls, it seems Like that she never wanted to marry him at the beginning of the Episode which raises the question why the hell she is even still with him If a life with him seems so horrible to her and also why the hell she wouldn't want to marry the man she Loved that much that she wanted to Go to prison for for all eternity in the movie. It Just doesn't make any logical Sense and is inconsistent with the movie and also the Wedding Short where she looked so deeply in Love and so incredible Happy. It Just doesn't make Sense that she would have rejected the proposal before. And whats worse is that in that Episode it seems Like she only changed her mind about marriage because Stalyan wanted him which makes it seem like she only wants him when another girl wants him which is so incredibly toxic. If someone considers marriage as a prison, then that means they are subconsciously thinking about cheating or breaking up! I analyzed this once in school about a book where a guy who considered marriage as a prison in a similar way as Rapunzel in this stupid series, ended up cheating on his girlfriend! And that is precisely what would happen in real life! When someone rejects marriage, the relationship is over!
And I'm pretty Sure the writers of Tangled intended for tangled ever After to Take place shortly after the movie because the little girls of the movie seemed to be the Same age in the Short and Wikipedia also states it was originally intended to Take place immediately after the movie. The series Just doesn't seem believable and seems Like it Takes place in a completely different universe as the movie. And I Just can't consider it Canon because of all These reasons and it's obvious that it was written by someone else than the movie. So, Right now I Just Count it as Not Canon to still be able to watch the movie. If I Had to Count it as Canon, then I Wish Flynn would have stayed dead at the end of the movie and wasnt brought back to life. It would have been a very sad and tragic ending but it would have at least been better than showing such a toxic relationship between two characters who were both trying to sacrifice themselves for each other.

Even the birds agree!
...now I want to make a "birds and bees" joke, but I'm too tired.
Wish would have definitely been a better movie if they'd stuck to the original concept, but for some reason Disney is shying away from romance right now. There's nothing wrong with a Disney Princess having no love interest of course, they don't all need one. But it's been over a decade now since Disney made a romance (not counting the Anna and Kristoff slow burn, because their relationship is a side plot in those movies). So at this point some variety would be nice. And, having a love interest doesn't diminish a female lead from being a strong character. ...As a side note, I think Aladdin is actually the only Disney Princess movie where the main character is the prince and not the princess. Although, Tangled and The Princess and the Frog give the prince and princess about equal prominence.
But I'm sure that even if Star had been more human, people decided to hate "Wish" out of principle and would have hated it anyway.
It is comfortable for them to say that Disney should have done this or that, but we all know that the problem lies with the haters and not with Disney.
@@Furienna Maybe some people are like that, but being reasonably critical of a flawed product doesn't make someone a hater. I dislike Wish because it has a lot of problems. That doesn't mean I want Disney to fail; some of my favorite movies are Disney movies. But when I think something is bad, I won't pretend that it's not.
@@AuraLeafstorm Okay, what problems do you think that "Wish" has that much more well-regarded movies like "Frozen" and "Moana" don't?
Because I haven't seen anybody give me a good explanation for why it deserves this irrational hatred except that people want to jump on hate bandwagons.
@@Furienna First of all, mind that nobody owes you an explanation for disliking something that you like, and it's very uncharitable to assume that people who disagree with you on something are just jumping on a bandwagon of groupthink. You're approaching me in bad faith, telling me upfront that you think anyone critical of this movie is inherently irrational. That said, for the sake of argument, I will engage with you. Now, there's a plethora of things that don't work about Wish. You wanted an in-depth explanation.
For one thing, the protagonist is static, and a static protagonist will always be less engaging than a dynamic protagonist, because she will not grow or change over the course of the story - especially if said static protagonist is always framed as being in the right by the narrative. A story in which the protagonist lacks character flaws means that the plot drives the character, rather than the character driving the plot. But that's only a minor issue.
The main problem is that the thesis is confused, which by itself derails the whole movie.
Even in-universe, this conflict doesn't really make sense. The citizens should easily be able to discern that the majority of people's wishes are not being granted just by ratio alone. the inequity is obvious; I'm not sure why it was treated as such a major revelation for the main character when she learned that the king keeps most people's wishes ungranted. the citizens should already be well aware that, statistically, most of them are not getting granted, just through observation alone. It's not a secret, it's math.
Secondly, the movie shows us a utopian society in which everyone seems to be happy, but then has the main character lament that she wants "something more than this" for her people. For that sentiment to work, the movie should have shown us anything less than a perfect society - which it doesn't. The citizens ARE happy - "Welcome to Rosas" was an entire song dedicated to highlighting this. There's an abundance of resources, to the point that the kingdom government is easily meeting everyone's food and shelter requirements, and nobody needs to work because nobody is being taxed. The citizens still have professions, just because people like to be productive, but as the king himself puts it, "I let you live here for free, and I don't even charge you rent," which insinuates that working is optional. I'm not sure what "more than this" Asha could possibly ask for, at that point, so it's difficult to relate to a protagonist that seemingly has everything she could possibly want or need and is still dissatisfied.
Now, what the movie seems to be trying to say is that placing safety and security over personal freedom is why the king is wrong and the society is flawed, and, alright, that's a fair thesis to build your movie off of. But again, that doesn't work, because freedom isn't being restricted either. Participating in this society is optional. If people don't like the one stipulation of living in Rosas, they can just leave; nobody is being forced to stay. That one stipulation is "giving up your wish" and leaving it in the hands of the king to either grant or dismiss. But the king wasn't incorrect when he stated that wishes shouldn't all be universally granted indiscriminately; because some *would* be actively harmful. Is he too controlling, too paranoid about which ones he grants and which he doesn't? Yes. That's his key character flaw. He has an in-universe reason for being paranoid about it, tied to his backstory. That's the one piece of character writing that I think works well.
But then, why is the king wrong? Because he's too controlling and too radical. Therefore, he never had a point to begin with...supposedly. See, that's the film refusing to engage with its own argument, because the film failed to make a coherent stance on exactly what level of wish-granting regulation is even acceptable. Unregulated wish-granting is dangerous, but restrictions as harsh as the king was implementing were clearly inequitable. ...The fact that only a single person is in charge of deciding which wishes get granted and which don't also seems to be inherently inequitable, but the movie doesn't even engage with that - it just changes the previous all-powerful wish-granter for a different one, who is supposedly better suited to the role. Asha replaces the king as wish-granter, therefore, the film seems to be stating that "the system in place wasn't bad, it was just the one bad actor within the system that was bad." Okay. But the film doesn't adequately explain how Asha would perform the role differently. In order to even justify the dethroning of the king, the movie needs to change his personality partway through the story to make him irredeemable.
Even a surface-level reading of the plot reveals that it doesn't make sense, either in-universe or thematically, because it's difficult to discern what exactly this story is even trying to say. This movie was rewritten several times over the course of its production, and it certainly comes across that way, because this feels like a first draft that wasn't fully thought through and ultimately doesn't hold any water. I haven't even touched on the fact that there are too many side characters and none of them get an appropriate amount of development, or that the comic relief plays exclusively to very young audience members, or that the songs in the movie have poorly-written lyrics that seem disconnected from the narrative and feels inherently anachronistic due to the pop genre being ill-suited to fairy tales.
@@AuraLeafstorm So you think that I'm rude and have a bad attitude?
Then look at your own response to when someone dares to have a different opinion than what you're used to.
And you want me to think that this isn't irrational group-think and a toxic hate bandwagon?
So why are you repeating the same misconceptions that countless other people do?
If you think that Asha is a static character and that the songs are bad, fine.
But I can't believe that so many people miss the obvious: it was only a façade that the people of Rosas were happy.
They were all brainwashed by King Magnifico as he kept stealing their wishes and parts of their personalities and their memories and their free will.
Don't you think that people celebrated Hitler and Stalin in the streets when they were at the height of their power?
That people in dictatorships aren't taught to love their leader and believe that they live in a paradise?
1. I think this can apply to most studios, not just Disney. Like, I can think of more shows and movies that focus on princesses instead of princes.
2. I do think you bring up an interesting point. It reminds me of why I'm not too fond of how Eugene is portrayed in Tangled The Series. The show often plays him as comic relief or a butt monkey, and the times they try to show more to his character don't really stick.
Old Disney was amazing at making fairytale love stories. But now they focus on girl power and have no love interest and apparently strong girls are not allowed to fall in love otherwise they'll be weak?😭
"No, I hate everybody" 😂😂
When a Queen is the ruler, her lower ranked husband is not given the title of King, but Prince Consort. Kristoff will probably be a Prince Consort so he doesn't outrank Anna.
I miss the romance im a girly girl and a traditional minded and i miss the prince's i hate that in the remake for little mermaid they took away eric killing ursula and made aroel do it i miss when they made the men strong sigh and also made scuttle a girl i miss his goffy ways .
Back then the reason Princess And The Frog flopped was cause it had princess in the title so Tangled got named Tangled to avoid that cause boys wanted to watch and parents said no. I was young back then and a boy and was told no cause girl IP. Tangled really didn't fix the issue most boys say it but a majority like me didn't cause princess movie by now you would think something would have changed but I saw Frozen bedding in the bedding isle two years ago and all boys got was Olaf and the reindeer. So even Disney has no clue how to market to boys when in reality all they would have to do is have a prince line to be a companion to the princess line it would solve a good middle ground compromise.
I would really appreciate if we had more male leads that were supoosed to be role models. Growing up I only had princesses but couldn't identify with them because of obvious differences
I miss the princes, and honestly when i clicked on this i was thinking how naveen is barely ever pressent in merchandise as a human especially if tiana is their as herself. Even in fan merch. V_v
Bring me those dual protagonists bring me the supporting characters. I wish to have them back, characters growing with each other v_v

Also, the girl has been cooped up for 16 years. She only has her fantasies. We should just be glad she didn't want to marry the owl.
I want all of the princesses to have a least one cute romance moment even if they don’t have a wedding at the end.
Elemental makes me salty because I really wanted a disney romance since Tangled but watching it was like dipping my eyes in bleach because I hated the character designs, and no story can make me care about characters I don't like the look of 😔
Yeah, not to mention that the pair are actual opposite elements that can kill/damage the other 🙃 Like yeah I see they were trying to go for a Romeo and Juliet sort of thing, but the titular main characters were at least the same species and didn’t have to worry about accidentally hurting the other just by TOUCHING them accidentally.
Opposites attract yes, but in nature the process of two opposites attracting does not always work out well for either side or the environment 🙃
Valid points being made above me. But counter:
THE POWER OF TRUE LOVE BABYYYYYYY 🫶🏽🤌🏽❤🔥
I don’t think Kristoff would be considered a King but instead a Prince Consort.
I am sick and at work but the Queen blessed me with her beautiful voice talking about a topic I didn't knew existed 😇

"Bomb" overstates it. I just looked it up. It cost 105 mill, and US and Canada brought in 104. But world wide, 267 mill. So not great, but more profit than you or I will see for anything we make. And let's not forget, they are retooling Splash Mountain to fit this movie.
Personally, I have issues with the film. I was expecting the House of Mouse to go in one direction, which I wouldn't care for, but they took it WAY too far in the opposite direction, which I don't like either. It's an odd paradox.
It had also been released in the same period as the first Avatar, which inevitably overshadowed the film
To be fair I think reason is mostly because in past most Disney projects based on fairytales where did have love interest.
I ship Roo and Lucifer now and can't wait to show it off!
Please make a video with Elemental!!!
I love that movie so much!!!

It keeps the lights on... well sometimes. Because, ya know, Nigeria.
Sorry to be pedantic, but Rapunzel was the last Disney Princess. Some people will tell you Merida was the last one, but I refuse to accept this as Merida is not a Disney character. No new characters have been officially added to the franchise since then. Anna, Elsa, Moana, Raya, Mirabelle and Asha have never been made official princesses. I don’t know why Disney has been making films starring teenage girls every other year while not using any of them to expand the Disney Princess franchise, but that is what they’ve been doing. So what’s actually happened is we’ve had no Disney princes or princesses since 2010.
But I would agree it would be nice to see more Disney movies starring young men again. Or even younger girls. Anything different.
Moana and Raya are both in the line-up.
@@Furienna I stand corrected, though I find it odd that they both seem to have been added very quietly, and very long after their films came out.
I noticed very much
You know why I noticed
Because I remember what they said about the creation of Flynn vs what they said about frozen and Wish
Edit: that’s what I’m talking about 5:17
Jasmine was my favorite princess as a child. She actually stood up for herself. She didn't just sit there and take it. She still got to fall in love and have a happy ending as well. I like the strong princess idea, but I think there should be a guy involved sometimes. It's nice to know that girls don't need men to be happy, but that doesn't they can't want them around. Wish is based of snow white to some extent. Needless to say, there should have been a prince.
Exactly just because some girls don't NEED men, doesn't mean that girls as a whole don't want romance or want love.
Finally! Bestie said it!
Eugene is my favorite but i just love tangled most :3
I expected anything when started watching this video but Attack on Titan's Shinzou wo Sasageyo music on the background! 😂 Absolutely love it!
As far as I know, only one commenter attacked you in the comments of the last video. I think the rest just agreed with you.
When girls say "Most girls wanted the prince but I wanted the ________" Its all lies! I want princes back!
I cant- my heart hurts watching this😭
They might be close to addingg a prince soon tho cause they were close to adding starboy
Well i don't mind that Disney makes movies about strong females (in fact some of them are really great). But what i don't like about them is how they put men always in evil rolls. Best example Wish, the Queen and the King are said to be so in love at the beginnig of the movie but as soon as the king got cursed the queen droped him like a hot patato and gave a sh*t about him, not even trying to undo the curse and what i hated even more was the fact that she didn't showed any emotion about losing the man she supposed to love so mutch.. it seemed like she was happy to trap him inside the (i guess its a mirror, can't remember 😅) mirror prison... like "oh he is a man and evil, so he is finally what a man is supposed to be"🙈
I really don't mind if there is a Lovestory (even though i sometimes wish there was) but at least make the charakters more dimensional
@@LadyPeach6 They had never loved each other for real, Magnifico had Amaya brainwashed into serving him.
To me the last princess is Elsa and Anna, plus I need my romance disney back
It doesn’t fit the current narrative to have romantic love in Disney movies
1:35 If marrying royalty was all it took to become king/queen then there sure would be a lot less Disney princes/princesses
Yeah call a tired old trope being unused for decades an erasure, that make you sound smart
I'm thinking nowadays why doesn't the prince find love? Why can't a guy want to find someone to be with him? Guys can be in relationships too and not be a womanizer. I wanna see a love story told by the prince!
Fr bro like let her go 0:24 if I were her then a massive red flag would have appeared
We need more Disney Princes.
1:44 If your going by royalty then , Kristoff is a prince , He married into the royal family to Ana and so the hes a prince because a king is see as above a Queen and you can’t have your husband being seen as more powerful then the actual queen
Take ; Queen Elizabeth and her husband Philip , Philip was still seen as a Primce when married to her Elizabeth
Now take : King Charles , he is king and so his wife is Queen consort
Believe me I noticed
I don't want to die a virgin
Strange because back then, people were trashing on classical Disney princes. Just look at the videos that compare all Disney princes. They are generally in the bottom tier. Now that Disney seems to quit making romance movies, people are now defending classical Disney princes??? I think that the feminists who hated the classic Disney princes in 2018 criticized Disney. And because of the criticism, Disney responded and made remakes of older Disney princess movies to "fix the problem". Now look how that turned out... Anti-feminists are criticizing Disney because they think the princes in the Disney Princess movies weren't even a problem in the first place. Honestly, I think Disney is just conflicted between these two sides. In 2018, it looked like it was feminists vs. Disney. In 2024, it looks like it's anti-feminists vs. Disney. But personally, it's neither of those cases... it's just feminists vs anti-feminists. So I don't completely blame Disney for how it's treating the Disney princes in their remakes. Feminists vs. anti-feminists was more of the problem here. I think Disney was struggling whose side it should go for.
There is in this country (and others) literally a movement to encourage young people to NEVER get married, DON'T have kids, think about yourself!
Yeah, extinction as a species doesn't sound too bad to them.
They also want us to eat bugs because cow farts, are killing the planet (but dinosaur farts were fine? ).
I want a movie were as the credits roll, we see our couple with a whole flock of children. Kinda like that Coke commercial floating around Twitter from South America.
I think you misunderstand some things kid. People tell you to focus on yourself and not jump into marriage or having kids cause those two are very tasking on the person and expensive, you should work to get a stable life first before even thinking about someone else.
Also the bug thing just sounds like you're capping, no one ine their right mind will tell you to do that cause that's actually worse than eating a cow.
Also no the couples shouldn't have a flock of children, you don't understand what processes leads to child birth for you to think that having children is a must for couples, some want other want and some want a set number, there's no big deal about it, people live their lives how they best can and trying to claim that it some kinda secret agenda is just not cool.
@@bunnyconcubus8468
I'm 50, and I am not misunderstanding. There are people on Twitter praising how they are in their late 30s, and they have so much money and free time without kids. There are many areas in the US and around the world, where populations are in decline due to low birthrates. I've talked with people who insist kids are icky, and absolutely NEVER want to have any.
This is very real.
I think you're definitely taking some of those movements in bad faith. If you're meaning the 4B movement that's spreading, it is a response to men's abusive treatment of women. A lot of people aren't saying to never get married or have kids ever, it's just that us younger people want to be stable and treated well by our partner, and that's just not happening.
Like I genuinely would like to get married someday and I miss when Disney had actual romances, but taking that upset and projecting it on real people is weird. Have empathy for people's life choices please. Plus if anyone really is acting like children are "icky" like you said that's just proof they're making the right choice by not having children they don't want
@@kaileychambers6969
The movement has evolved out of the whole "Wait until you're older," and has become one of "kids never." If a 38 year old woman is bragging about how great her life is to be child free, she ain't waiting, she literally never wants kids. I've seen actresses brag about their multiple abortions, so they could continue their acting career. And yes, there are even people who insist the world would be a better place without humans. In many countries, birthrates are at record lows. This isn't waiting.
And someone who thinks kids are icky shouldn't have kids? No, someone like that should not have such a twisted view. They were taught this by someone. They should be taught of the joy of children.
I know I sound like a tin foil hat conspiracy theorist, but the evidence is scary. I hope and pray these are just fringe nuts, but I become less and less sure of just how fringe they are.
@@wattsisnaim8111 And why they can't be happy or praised? Nobody will see something wrong by praizing parents. All life style should be able to express. Even if it not please close minded people. That's a fact that having no children made you more rich and free. That you will have some advantage. Nothing new we all know the cost of raising children. And why they shouldn't say that? That a reality. And yes some will NEVER wanted a child. You know what ? That FINE, as much has want it. And if birth rate is that bad, that because lots of people, even if they want it, have no ressources for caring them. Wich is a international problem in fact. More, lots of things in food and pollution affect the fertility negativelly. Add wars, tension, economic instabillity, ecologic problem, sexism and risks and maybe you will understand that is not just "don't want it" the problem. And yes, I don't want it either. Never^^. That doesn't please you? But that not your problem you know? Why are you mad that other are happy without? That a personnal feeling and choice that I have the right to make for MY life. Like you did yours.
To be fair when Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel beat Princess and the Frog, I think that was Disney throwing in the towel on 2d. It didn't help the next time they tried with a 2d Winnie the Pooh movie, they put it up against the last Harry Potter movie which REALLY? Of course that flopped. I saw Harry Potter so I was there. I remember the ad where Pooh has spelt Potter which some toys blocks and switched it to Pooh instead. Maybe they were hoping families would like a PG movie instead of PG13 but come on!
Anyway I agree that the slow erasure of princes is annoying. Even in the TV programs there is a disconnect. Now I think shows appealing to certain demographics are fine. BET and Univision exist for a reason. Wouldn't be fair to ask them to add programs for Indigenous peoples or Jews. This whole mess tried to fix a problem and went off the deep end.
Do I agree that some movies have problematic elements that could be misconstrued? Yes. However that's why alternatives exist. Don't like game shows don't tune into GameShowNetwork, don't like weather, don't go to the Weather Channel or Ryan Hall Yall.
Romance and independent women can exist. I have a lifelong grudge against Lifetime because they had a movie about MEN being abused and only showed it once after backlash even though henpecked husbands exist. I commend Invincible for showing a man getting rape and treating it as a tragedy like it SHOULD!
Sorry for the long post but I am just mad and forlorn.
I never seen a disney movie where the MC is a prince
I think Aladdin is the only one, and even then, he wasn’t even actually a prince, he was just pretending
The lion King
You don't remenber Naveen and Eugene?
@@Furienna OMGOSH YEAH! Bt I mean like the MAIN character, as in the story revolves around them. In TPAF, Naveen IS a MC, but the like main main character is Tiana
@@NewLayersPodcast They are both main characters in my opinion.
I mean, AFAIK the only Disney Princess movie which focused on the men was Aladdin.
BTW, are you blogging about DC Pride?
Reck it raph is the last princess with raph can technically be the prince
We need more boy shows
I believe the classification is for someone to become a Disney princess like on the characters as they cannot be introduced in a sequel there have to be an MA future it could be a MA movie or an anime TV show, but it had to be animated not live action, and they cannot be a sequel, and they had to either be born royalty Marie into OT or through a great heroic deed so you have to do a great how old do you be born in two hours to have Maria into it and be in an animated production not live action it can’t be a sequel, which is why I forget her name but the princess from enchanted is not official because it was a life action and why Ariel‘s daughter is not because instead of live action, so doesn’t count in charge of the cow because she was in the sequel in Marion county because she did a great actor of her words of an all the alarms right about born Royals I made into a Gina that’s why also away not available, because if you don’t have the movie, it was a TV show that was a Animated and believe the same counted for Sofia, the first Sofia from Sofia, the first because she was a step child of a king, so maybe you’re thinking of one do to do the gray after I have them and Sophia, who is considered an official Disney princess because it’s from not doing great out of heroism being born to royalty or Marion Taraji she was born to survive who was so she was the step child of a king so maybe you’re thinking of her and even though that was a movie of the show that started at the movie so maybe that’s what you’re thinking of because I’m a bit of a Disney princess buff myself I don’t know a lot about any particular one but I know but in pieces about multiple Disney princesses so perhaps I think of Mulan and Sofia from Sofia the first once upon a princess and then it’s spinoff show that came after it on Disney Junior
Well... uhm... This is interesting for me because I agree with you on about 50% of your point and passionately disagree with the other half. lol. Not going to get into it though...
Except for one. Prince Philip. He is 'handsy' because his love language is touch, and he likes touching the things he likes. I known this because my love language is touch. Maybe he's a little impolite and creepy (by today's standards) but to be fair, at least he wasn't touching Aurora in inappropriate places during their first meeting in the woods.
How to say 'I love you' in every love language (specific dialects not included):
Words of Affirmation: "You look nice today. I appreciate what you do."
Physical Touch: Hold hands, give a hug, or just be in the same room hanging out.
Acts of Service: Actively watch or listen for stuff to do that your target wants done, then do the task for them.
Quality Time: Arrange a date and/or do an activity together that has meaning.
Thoughtful Gifts: Give or appreciate a well considered gift.
The Spy x family music playing in the back plss😭😭
Nice catch! 💝👍🏽
Yeah ok. Ed, Edd, and Eddy was a fun show and so was Kim Possible.
It wasn't their gendtit was the fun premise and execution. Just gatta Keep waiting for new episodes of Arcane and Invincible.
X men. I wish Dogs in Space got new episodes...and glitch techs.
Good shows seem to exist and be coming out ..but being canceled and replaced with other shows. good or bad.
I still think a good chunk of UA-camrs hate watching Velma giving it a second season. Giving the bad shows attention just isn't good...but the good shows are on hiatus or canceled and bills still need to be paid so...I guess everyone will milk the bad because they can't do anything else.
I want Starboy!!!!!
No, Mirabel is NOT a disney princess
I know Frozen had Anna and Kristoff, but since that wasn't the main focus of the film. Tangled was the last Disney love story. I do love seeing strong Disney princesses who don't need a strong man, but it'd be nice to see another love story. Although...most Disney Princes are...kinda pedophilic...so I wouldn't like that to return. Also fun fact to lighten my comment. My Nanas favourite Disney film is Moana because she didn't have a love interest
hello again
Ok but what if a lady just doesn't...want a man?
What if she just, I dunno, isn't ready for a relationship?
Forget about being strong, independent, badass, "I ain't no damsel in distress and I don't need no man!!!", etc.......what if she just ain't feeling it yet?
The princesses who thaught little girls that it's okay to fall in love, find and marry your Prince Charming, and have that kind of happy ending had their time to shine and got their fair share of the spotlight. Now, that spotlight has been passed over to the princesses who teach little girls that it's okay to be by yourself, feel unready, have different priorities (e.g. family, self-discovery, etc.), go on your own adventure for and by yourself and have your own happy ending as they too rightfully deserve a chance to shine. They deserve the same fair share.
Not wanting to have a Prince Charming doesn't automatically and necessarily make you anti-damsel in distress, but sometimes the one to save you need not be Prince Charming, because sometimes, it can just be you. Or sometimes it can be your family, your sister, or just anyone else that you deeply care about and/or deeply cares about you. Sometimes it's just like that, and that's okay.
This doesn't mean one is good and/or the other is bad, it just means you're the creator of your own story and that story is great as long as it feels...you.
I love Disney Princes and Princesses, all of them and of all kinds, and if there's anything they thaught me, it's this.
Be yourself, as that's what they're all here to teach you, and that's exactly all they're doing!
I find it really ironic, but at the same time, very hilarious, that in this video, you put a clip of "Ways to be a princess" by Pixel Playhouse, when this whole comment is exactly the message it was trying to convey + the fact that you expect people to not think and genralize all princesses of one type as bad but actively spend and continue to do the same for the other type, like you're literally bashing the latter in the same manner you seemingly and apparently are against being done to the former...almost sounds like the definition of a particular word that just so happens to start with a "hypo" and end with a "crite"...but hey, nostalgia, unawareness of the difference/to differentiate between objective and subjective, poor subjective commentary skills and the inability to move on to the completely harmless changing times sure does things to and have effects on a person, lol lmao.
Came here to this here video for some sweet constructive criticism and commertary and maybe so laughs too, went with only one of the three, and I think we can guess which one that is, y'all.
(Hint:- It's the last one)
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
P. S. : Moana was beautiful and had amazing : and awesome songs!!!>:(
Subjective opinion, yes, I know, but still.
That’s your opinion not mine
I hope Moana have “prince” in Sequel movie…
The 1st Mulan and Princess and the Frog gave me bi panic lol Like why'd the pirncesses and princes of that movie have to be so fine lmaooooo
Princess and the Frog I get because of Naveen but there wasn’t a Prince in the first Mulan movie, Mulan’s love interest was *General* Shang
