Here’s a bit of a fun fact: Rainbows End’s Corkscrew opened the same year Seaworld Australia’s Corkscrew opened. Arrow sent a huge team from America to build both coasters at the same time 😊. Last fun fact: Rainbows End was built surrounded by farmland. As time went on, Auckland had grown around the park. Lastly, Rainbows Ends Corkscrew is surprisingly smooth for a Arrow. Thats mainly because of the amazing maintenance team. That’s why it’s outlived Seaworlds version I believe. Great episode guys! Thanks for coming to my home park 😁
There is no way that Marty is the only coaster enthusiast down here in New Zealand! Wish we had more roller coasters to our name but New Zealand has so many thrilling tourist attractions otherwise.
Hey, it's the guy from the Pantheon vs. Velocicoaster video 😉! Really enjoyed seeing this park, you don't really hear much from Rainbow's End. Gold Rush and the flume look like such nice surprises.
Rainbow's End is such a charming park! and yeah, a new modern coaster of some kind would do wonders. That Marty guy looks like a cool dude with good taste.
I live in Auckland and I'm a coaster enthusiast haha (so Murray is not the only one!) - roller coasters were a special interest since I was 3 years old, and it wasn't until age 33 I was finally able to fulfill that dream and do a big trip through several parks in USA. It's been a number of years since my last visit to Rainbows End although it's only 20 minutes away - I was supposed to go this past weekend actually but the visit was postponed due to the weather. It would have been funny if I'd gone on the same day as you as I actually would have recognised y'all haha. The Rainbows End Corkscrew was my first 'proper' coaster, ridden as soon as I met the technical height requirement of 120cm. Sorry you didn't get to ride it, even though it's not an exciting coaster by most standards it's a pretty well run corkscrew as David mentions in another comment. I had to laugh at Murray's "yeah nah" expression when you asked what to expect of the park - that's a very kiwi reply XD I remember the opening of the mine train ride (Gold Rush) and it was a huge deal at the time - I did enjoy the themeing. The Log Flume was generally the most popular ride when I was a kid as it was fun enough without being too scary/big for small kids. The Stratosfear
That log flume was very New Zealand 😅. It was cool to see this Marty guy I've heard all about too. Really enjoyed this series. Thanks for visiting our little corner of the world!
That really sucks you weren't able to ride the only major coaster in New Zealand, I definitively think it looks like a cool Arrow Looper even if its no different from the rest of those models.
A video chock full of Marty - aw, yeah! You may have missed the corkscrew, but you did the two rides I’d be looking forward to the most at Rainbow’s End. The log ride seems awesome especially, and Goldrush has a bit of the Plohn Miniwah vibe.
First time I did it at night actually and it can definitely do with some lighting on the outside section. We missed some of the biggest and best new animatronics they put in. It's a shame we couldn't do it during the day to see it all properly.
Love the Down Under series! The Rainbow 🌈 theming ❤ Shoutout to Sarah for mentioning you were there on Pride Weekend 😊🌈 Excited for Gaydays at Disney World coming up in June 😊🌈 Hope you will vlog it from Magic Kingdom 😊💜👍
Can't believe the editing took out the times you asked about the 8.5 Kondaa score. I'm setting the line at 8.5 times. Did you ask about it more than 8.5 times or less than 8.5 times?
@@Marty_NZ so the best coaster in New Zealand was down. A broken arrow coaster. I actually rode an arrow today. I did a ride on Carolina cyclone. Of course I did one on copperhead and 5 on intimidator and 6 on fury. All kidding aside did you at least get him on the upside Frisbee. I love spin cycle at Silverwood. May be my favorite flat ride. You did get him a backstage walk on the arrow
@@Marty_NZ I think Stratosfear would be my favorite at that park although not something I would lap. The mine train coaster looked good and the logged flume looked fun. Canyon blaster is the best small arrow in my mind but I prefer viper at SFMM and especially Tennessee tornado at Dollywood To it. I also rode shockwave at six flags great America back in the day so I have 2 of the 3 big loopers under my belt.
@@alantrotter2077 Stratosfear doing the "extreme" cycle of full 360 is probably the most extreme ride there. It's fun, but the best ride for me is still the Intamin drop tower. It's actually a pretty good one compared to others I've done around the world. It's the closest I get to airtime here. The Arrow in the backrow down the drop does give you a pop of airtime though.
This looks like such a neat park. Small and with not a lot, but wacky and well kept. I will say this park really deserves another big coaster. Especially a big noninverting coaster to compliment the corkscrew like a wooden coaster or maybe some kind of launch coaster.
The energy completely changes at night ,I love a night time park ,lisberg and late opening energlandia are fun especially energlandia the waterpark is open till late 🎉

When I worked at Disney world, we had a lot of internationals. 2 were from New Zealand, and they were telling me they were going to Busch Gardens Tampa. And I was like, the roller coasters are huge there, and they said, so are they in New Zealand! I asked for evidence. They showed me the corkscrew. I laughed so hard and they were offended. But alas. They were not prepared
It was in the opposite direction from where we wanted to go, and would've been at least a 5 hour flight just to get there. Not worth it IMO. Maybe one day...
It's ironic that New Zealand's only coaster outside of Rainbow's End is even further up the country's northernmost peninsula than Rainbow's End itself.

That log flume is like if Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Rainforest Cafe had a baby.
A raptor, a Vekoma launch like formula, or a small gravity group would treat this park well.
Crazy how some simple paint can make a ride super exciting

Rainbows end needs a roller coaster like the hyper coaster at movie world
The log flume is hands down the best ride in New Zealand
I'd say The Stratosphere,

That log flume has a scene of happy, living trees enjoying a campfire

Super bucket list park for me
The rain sounds were so calming (:
Cool unique park with a little dash of quirkiness (in a positive way). The log flume with the black light indoor section seems lovely.
I actually only became aware of this park a few days ago. Great video.
Kind of love that your end card is now Shambhala and Dragon Khan--I was just there!
I heard there is a backyard rollercoaster there with a vertical drop like a real rollercoaster there in New Zealand
Just down the road from me in Pahiatua. A truck trailer engineer built it on his farm. He’s taken the loop out due to the intense forces 😅
To be honest… It’s one of the best in the world but it’s a secret 🤫
Gold Rush seems really cool when you look how fast it picks up speed when barely going downhill.
