Is it the total distance covered in 6 min (including breaks in between), that has to be measured, ot the drop in saturation after the test to be taken in consideration..
For assessing the functional status of the patient ,the distance covered in 6minutes, saturation drop compared to pre test value and any symptoms in between have to be considered.
If patient gets to stop and rest, how is that an accurate test for how far you can walk in 6 minutes. Resting gives your lungs a chance to recover, so it wouldn’t show how far your able to go unless you only stop when you can’t go any further!??? 🤷🏼♀️
A good one, thank you.
Thank you so much for explaination ma'am...it made easy to understand 6MWT

Very useful in opd thanks🙏
what is the relevance if the patient takes rest for more than 2 mins while walking for 6 mins
Ideally it wouldn't be accurate.. But we can get an overall FRC
thanks madam
