I quite agree, DoF scale is not very helpful, and not only because of the sensor size (which I doubt matters at all). It depends on the lens and on the adaptor that you use. For example, most adaptors that I have used made the lens "overshoot" the point of infinity, that is, the infinity came at, say, 10 m or 20 m. Or if you want to focus on something located, say, 7 m from you, you need to set the lens at 5 m, and so on.
Firstly, thank you for making this video to help a lot of us who have doubts on the matter. I tend to think sensor size has nothing to do with DOF as the image pane was simply cropped. However, when I tried street photography with my full-frame M10 and an APSC Leica CL, the results tell a slightly different story. I think @alexshabotenko7228 is right, some adaptors allow the lens focus past infinity, that makes the DOF scale inaccurate (particularly the type of adaptors that allow close focusing) .
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. Yes I do believe adapters play a part in the accuracy of DOF scale on lenses. I was mainly interested in whether I could achieve ‘acceptable’ focus for my street photography using FF manual lenses and found that it the results were much better if you limited focus to a certain range say 2-5m rather than using infinity.
