Yes, it is in Mauritius. Unfortunately the wave conditions are not consistent last 6 months. But for sure they are seasonal. High season is from May to October. Low is November to April. It's all relative of course.
How were the locals? I know they aren't too friendly to tourists. I'm heading out 3rd of Feb but would love to score a few sessions. Obviously respecting locals
@@lloydjones1954 When you respect locals, they are not offensive. At least it didn't happen to me. But, frankly speaking, I'm a beginner, and almost never share the spot with them. In Tamarin they surf mostly on the reef, which is quite dangerous when you are beginner. I tried few times and gave up. So I decided to practice on the Small Reef in Le Morne. There the atmosphere is more friendly.
@@timofftube 2:38 - that's me getting dropped in on out the back by this beginner lady. It's getting more and more insane out there. Respect the locals and know your limits / don't go to the reefbreak if you don't have the appropriate level. If you think you do, remember that the main peak is reserved to the best local surfers and old timers. The biggest problem with beginners is that, once they learn how to stand up, they think they can surf any break when that's clearly not the case. The reefbreak is fast and shallow, even for intermediate surfers. Learn the etiquette and look at the wave when you are positionning to go, not at the beach. Maybe take a lesson or two with a surf guide to understand what I'm talking about.
Deadly locals when the wave is firing up. It’s a very rare wave. Works with very tiny window of swell direction and strength and period and height …. This guy on the video is surfing the bay. The end of the wave into the sendy bottom of tamarin bay. You don’t even need booties where this guy is trying to surf 😂. But good on you keep on mate ! We all get thru your stage of surfing.. the real wave is the one we see … the powerful left …Dal and blackstone, the right on the other side of the bay. Tamarin bay is magic
Nice , is it in Mauritius ? Are the waves like this every time or is it seasonal?
