What you did with Sound Check (gravity) is seriously impressive because of how creatively you chose sound effects from the game. You must have had so much fun making this album and it really shows
@@Losing-it. glad you loved it! I scavenged a lot through the game’s SFX to find just the right bits lol. Near the end, I ended up using the sliding SFX a lot, primarily with wind (there is a lot of wind in the album, at least three songs). There was a whole lot of behind-the-scenes trickery like certain reverb FX, double tracking, EQ, etc. I’m so happy to see all of you guys loving the stuff I love too, thanks!
Hits just right EDIT: I honestly forgot these were arranged with the Mario 64 soundfont until the voice clips popped up here and there. Quality arrangements for sure.
@@gustavoo3886 I can't speak for serioussowhy1011, but a couple I noticed were how the last "harmonica" bits of Clint Eastwood echo away instead of just repeating the notes at the same volume, and the intro sounds in "Punk" steadily rise in volume out of the silence instead of just making the song start from that one drum hit. It might not seem like much on the surface, but a LOT of folks who do these "popular music but with this video game's soundfont" vids often neglect such small details, resulting in the song being _passable_ rather than great.
@@submariNervousI notice a lot of soundfont creators don’t use FX in the recreation and use just the raw unedited sound of the soundfont. Some songs and artists i can understand but for Gorillaz, with how much FX they use, wouldn’t sound like it without it.
I'm probably dumb but how did you even do that btw? idk if it was just really precise meticulous word splicing, but i feel like doing that same thing for a lot of songs with guest verses that have rappers kinda in-between notes would make them sound even better
@@TalTheOxymoron I just used a text to speech AI for it. I suggest for rap parts (you can see my cover of Points Of Authority for example) just take an acapella of the section and put an 8Bit Filter on it. Sure it may not be Mario but I can’t seem to get the AI to do what I want with specific tonality things lol
This feels like nothing's changed. If you told me this was a weird official cover album, I would believe you. Amazing work, perfected vibes. I hope making this wasn't as painful as it seems.
Holy cow, double bass was flawless. I've listened to a lot of these "albums in SM64 soundfont" videos and I have yet to hear anyone string Mario voice clips to form anything as coherent as you did here.
I absolutely love the intro part to M1A1 using Mario's vocals. Really changes the tone given that the original sampled the bleak opening scene of Day of the Dead. 🤣
Rn Im just in the beginning seconds of Re-Hash, and I can tell all the dedication, love and attention given into this project, hope this blows up even more!
This was such a trip to listen to. Everything was perfect! The transition between Clapper and Punk was the highlight for me. You got serious talent making this album and getting every detail correct. Also loved the little Mario AI voice lines added in, it gave it this feel that I haven’t heard other SM64 soundfont videos have. You earned a subscriber for this, hope to see more awesome soundfonts like this! It honestly needs more attention!
I love Gorillaz's debut album, thought it would be challenging to Soundfont it since the album has so many styles in it. Highly enjoyed this vid, really liked how creative you've got with it! I'm already hyped if you'll make 'Demon Days' as well.
Sir or madam or person… I’ve been trying to think of a coment that sums up all my feelings about this for like 20 minutes… and I have yet to do so. I freaking love Gorillaz. I love fan projects. This is one of the most beautiful, well crafted gorillaz Fan projects I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen people re-create like some stuff from demon days stuff with the same sound font, but stuff from the self titled is pretty rare, and very enjoyable to see considering that it’s not their most popular album album, but the fact that you have pain stinkingly re-created THE ENTIRE. ALBUM. Is mind-boggling to me and freaking amazing. You are loved and appreciated and this is an absolute art piece from the fandom. Damon and Jamie really need to see this if they haven’t already.
Fantastic job. I've listened to this album countless times and this stands up to the highest scrutiny for me. Was hoping to see a recreation of Dracula but I know that was a bonus track
Clint Eastwood is incredibly well done, it sounds like a fancy ghost theme that would come out of the game. Actually screw it, this entire project is well-put and incorporates great sound. Sound Check has always been my personal favorite from the album, I'm happy you gave it its own spin with this renditon. All the hard work pays off, thank you!!
Man Research, one of my favorite tracks off this album, sounds fantastic here. Amazing work. The sound effects being worked into the beats, especially in Double Bass are a phenomenal touch. It's not just that it was made into the soundfont. You put your own spin on this genre of meme. I 100% would buy this digitally
The Mario voice clips in New Genious (Brother) actually made me bob along with the music. I don't know how I fell into this rabbit hole of songs being remade in the Super Mario 64 Soundfont, but when it hits it *hits* and I am here for it.

The G man is real
THE G! THE G IS REAL!
-What music do you listen to?
-It's complicated...
This 19-2000 sounds like it really could have been in an actual Mario game.
I clicked on this just for it, was gonna skip right to it but Re-Hash was so good I couldn't do that
Facts fr
Rock The House does also. 🔥 35:00
Clint Eastwood is basically Luigis Mansion. Lmao
Same with 5/4
Mario saying “All of which makes me anxious, at times, unbearably so” in Double Bass caught me so off guard

When Mario pops in on Double Bass I lost my shit. 10/10
Same, I was just vibing and forgot about that part of the song, it caught me off guard lmao
suddenly hearing mario talk happily about his deep rooted anxieties was something else man
I was expecting vocals, but I thought he'd just sample it as "Thank-a you so much, It's-a me, Mario."
I am wheezing this is genuinely incredible I did not expect the entire album

mario saying “hello! is anybody there?” in m1a1 was just the cherry on top of a hilariously beautiful album. loved this

This one is really well made. You managed to capture the small nuances you hear in the songs

The "Let's a Go" ended me !! So clever and cute!
M1A1's intro is honestly incredible in this version, wow.
For real, sounds like it's the opening moments of a DOOM/Mario mash-up
Y’know, I could totally see this rendition of Clint Eastwood playing in a ‘spooky’ level, like the ghost houses or Big Boo’s Haunt.
Great stuff, man❤
What about Latin Simone, that track ended up spooky as hell
Waluigi as Murdock is perfection.

This is the best Gorillaz album in a very long time.
