    I just got an Akita pup and even at 9 weeks, the force is very strong with this one. Ive had dogs my entire life and none have had a will like this little guy.

      How is your Akita doing now? Was it hard to train and are there some things that are really important to NOT forget when getting an Akita? And do you like your dog?

    This is how dog society works. Pack master then pack. Its what they need. Play time is during play time and exercise of instruction benefits the dogs overall well being. As a dog owner, I have to be pack master and enforce obedience and my dog enjoys pleasing me so it is fun for the dog. Without me my dog would need a pack master found in nature but here in america there is no healthy alternative for me. Being a dog owner is not just a answer to companionship but a responsibly to leadership.

    I own both an American and Japanese Akita and yes Americans can be bigger, not always. My Japanese Akita is a large Akita at about 50kg. A Shiba Inu is not the same as an Akita Inu by the way. Inu just means dog in Japanese.
    Akita's all came from a place called Akita, so really an American or Japanese Akita has to be Japanese, no even the differences in breed still are from a Japanese Tosa Inu. Nothing American about an American Akita but the name. I like Great Japanese Mountain Dog myself.

    How did the Akita get along w the other dogs. I want to get one an I'm experienced w dogs just not Akitas. Can they be social

      Kyle Forcer my Akita is super social....I wish he wasn’t he greets everyone and is only skittish with very few. He loves playing with dogs his size but smaller dogs he stomps because he doesn’t know what to do lol. He grew up with a cat and loved cats but all stranger cats freak out.

    Which type of Akita was this? It looks like the American, but I'm not sure.

    • @thisoasisthingy
      @thisoasisthingy 10 років тому +1

      American, you can tell by the coloring and the fact it's pinto and not a solid color.

    That is amazing training, especially for an Akita! They are extremely loyal dogs, and are smart as whips, but definitely have minds of their own for what they want to do.

  • @sirrloin

    Agreed. An American Akita is a much larger, much more dominating dog than the Japanese Akita or Shiba Inu. I just went put my deposit down on a pinto male last night. Met the father and fell in love. Do your research and get them trained early and I think it'd be hard to find a more beautiful and loving dog.

    Nicely trained Akita. My Akita will do everything the Akita does in this video except when there are strange dogs around. Interesting no other dogs other than in the cages were near the Akita in this video when doing the obedience.

    This was lovely to watch. I am taking my daughters Akita because with five children she cannot cope with him. He is four months old and not trained and I am making slow progress, but he still needs lots of work and i am relieved that one day my Akita will possibly be like the one in the video. However, I need that type of facility where I live in Olympia Washington USA. Anyone have any advice? thanks

    • @abbyrose1991
      @abbyrose1991 7 років тому +1

      Akitas are not lazy, they are very intelligent and independent so training takes more patience. They have pride, and don't fall over themselves to please just anyone. That is different than laziness.

    • @Jenny-nj8bs
      @Jenny-nj8bs 7 років тому +2

      Akitas are not lazy! They just make their own decisions and decide by themselves if they do a command or not.
      I have an Japanese Akita and I'm doing Obedience (Dog Sport) with her.
      Every time we come to a competition they smile at us and after competition they can't believe we won :D

      Sevheart it's because he probably believes he's the alpha one.. You have to show your dog that you are the leader and then after they realize they'll become submissive.

      it is not a cage, it is a kennel that they stay in over night.

    • @rebekahmartin5694

      Its a dog crate. Used for transporting and sleeping. The dog needs to be trained and understand the purpose of their crate. Very common on breeders and people who show dogs. It is also the dogs personal space they have (akin to a dog bed). Especially with a dominate breed like akitas their personal area is important. The dog doesn’t live in the crate. That would be ridiculous and what you might be getting an idea of.

    these people have shown they can train a dog but personally i don't like this. they have turned that dog into a robot. the dog's head is always up watching and waiting for the owner to tell him what to do.
