for the money one of the best buys out there,,,very well made.,,,if you cant gt swr down lower than 1.5....adjust coil up or down very slightly ..this will adjust feed point impedance to 50 oms.
Well i got one of these 3 years ago for an upgrade over the antron a99.Installed it 30 feet of the ground and only lasted 3 months. The antenna broke at the base during a thunderstorm.Never again.Got a new max2000 and put it up 70 feet high.Been up for over 2 years now with no problem.
I am using one now. About 35 feet in the air. Talks well i talk to a friend on am and on sideband with stock 4 watts. He lives 19 miles away as a bird flies. I hear him and he hears me. I've talked to the country corsica and I'm in the Chicago land area. Only using 100 watts max. I did loose a ground radial over the winter, but it has been up for about 5 years. Who cares if it's bent up in storms, as long as it still talks!
5 years in the windy city? Impressive. I've read several reports about some plastic piece near the base breaking. But if it'll stand up in Chicago for 5 years it should work for my purposes for quite some time.
Nothing but TimesMicrowave LMR400 for this antenna. Or maybe 213u. But RG-58 and Mini-8, they just don't cut the mustard. They really never did cut the mustard. Can't wait until my Tornado arrives. YIPPEE
I'm looking at getting one of these to use at a semi- portable base antenna for my camper. What would you estimate the losses be between the mini 8 truck stop stuff and the LMR 400? only planning on having it mounted on one single 10' 5" pole. Also, can you skein up excess LMR400 like you can the mini 8 type stuff? I'll only need around 15' to reach the antenna.
Nice video and thanks for the tuning tip! I started with your results of 43 and 1/4 inches long and just had to lengthen it by a 1/4 inch to get 1.3 SWR on Channel 1 (11 meters) and very good SWR on all 40 channels (under 1.5 on all 40 channels). Antenna performs excellent and was very easy to assemble. Highly Recommend. Just be sure to use excellent quality coax cable. Cheap cable can make tuning a nightmare if not impossible. 73's...
It does look beautiful up there. I have ordered mine tonight and I don’t know how long it will take to get here from the U K so I have time to get everything ready for the arrival... Thanks
Awesome video. My situation is similar to yours. I have a Solarcon A99 that's failing fast. SWR goes through the roof after it rains. Fiberglass is flimsy. After consulting with other CBers on a forum told me about this Tornado 27 antenna and it looks like a great antenna at a reasonable price. Thanks for posting.
I had one of these at about 50 feet and during a recent nor'easter (I live in Southern New England near the coast) and the antenna snapped in the center of the base insulator (we had gusts to around 60 MPH that day). I have gone back to using my Hygain SPT-500 that I purchased in 1970. It has been used here in New England (south coast Massachusetts), Louisiana, and Texas and then back to MA with no problems ever except for a little maintenance and replacing one of the vertical sections that the movers bent when packing (I did my own packing of my communications equipment after that). The Tornado 27 was only up for 4 months before in was destroyed by the wind!
I recently installed one of these. However,I'm not sure if when tuning... do you measure from the top of the egg beater or from the tip where the egg beater cage is attached....its not specified anywhere, thanks for any response.
Yes this Antenna, was Great until a 42 MPH Wind Gust! They say this antenna, is heavy duty and it failed me.Just above the Driven Element Bent Over and 2 Radial were bent sideways.
What i would like to know is that this Sirio Tornado 27 or Sirio 2016 is costing less than a Sirio Gain Master Fibre Glass antenna but does the Sirio Gain Master perform better? I have a feeling that the Sirio 2016 or Sirio Tornado 27 which are all aluminium antenna should perform better because it is metal but the fibre optic antennas are priced way higher than these metal antennas! I payed over 200 euros for a Fibre Optic Gain Master antenna!
the plastic insulator at the bottom is a weak point mine broke in the first moderate wind pay the extra and buy sirio 827 much better made and much sronger 26sd204

So does it work well without radials?
@@Keimo452 I can honestly say that I really didn't notice a change or a difference. I imagine there was change when that happens but I never noticed.
I am currently using a Sirio 827, and I give no complaints yet. It's been up for about 8 months so it is still pretty new
@@kkristopher7413 Thank you.
Excellent choice of vertical antenna is the 5/8 with 1/4 wave radials, this should work well.

She's a BIGGUN 👍❗🇺🇸
its now 2021 six years later. how do you like the Sirio ?
Hello, what experiences have you had with the antenna? Is she recommended?
73. 55
Just chuck a £35 silver rod up!

antron 99 is shit
These new tornadoes with the extended ground planes are looking more like the legendary avanti sigma 2.
I have an avanti sigma 2 and tbf id say the build quality is a whole lot better than anything sirio have made to date and its still straight😜👍
yes it does.

fantastic antenna for the money
If the last part of the antenna is to be 110cm, then it will be well tuned. SWR will be good
How’s she working?
Not sure if it’s any better than my IMAX but I like mine.
Still using this antenna??
hello does it talk good and have good skip or what kind of range are you getting out of it I'm thinking of getting me one is it a good buy !
i am looking to get one of these are they good for range? I wanna be able to talk to my dad when he is in his truck?
Hallo I wil buy this antenne Sirio tornado 27. Is this a good antenna?
can this tornado be hooked up in quads
How do you set the swr
Hi do u know if this will work without the ground plane radials installed?
may i ask the size of the box where the antenna is packed in the lenght of the box and total weight of the whole packaged antenna? thnx 73
Very good antenna ! SWR> 1,5 sure !
salut stephane a tu eu des problemes avec les anneaux de plastic entre les section avec le temps?? merci pour le vidéo en passant.
is normal to read some ohms in the antena with multimeter??

The tuning should take place at the top just below the capacity hat (egg beater).
Have any of you compared a Tornado to a Vector 4000? And the results?
I would say it would be like comparing a Super Penetrator 5/8 wave to a Saluit LW150 Both are great antennas flip a coin.
How long radial,tank

How cm is the radials????
Approx 200 cm. So not full 1/4 radial, but seems to work fine anyway.
Purchased one of these....came with only half the antenna in box....CAVET EMPTOR !!
Me to but I got all of the antenna. But no hardware.
i try him out but i dont like dis , i like more the sirio 2000 serries lot bether
4 mintues of my life wasted becasue there was no repeat no instructions of putting it together
Because! Not becasue!
If you can't figure out how to put poles together with screws, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you waste a lot of minutes of your life...
