Kind of an unrelated comment but it's reallly cool to have an educated person who can be "mostly" unbiased and open minded about ways to keep an aquarium. Stoked to be a part of your page movin forward man
🙏 welcome. Thank you. Im biased im sure... but i try and be aware of it lol. Tell me if im being unfair ever though. I rely on everyone's feedback. Happy new years!
Thank you, Alex and Imperial Tropicals for this tour!! I'm so impressed with this "fish farm"! Honestly, it is so much more than that! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!🥰🎄🎅
Imperial Tropicals is an incredible company to deal with. I’ve bought ALOT of rainbows from them and they’ve all come to me in fantastic shape - all healthy well cared for fish. They even individually bag them
I am a retired Veteran of 21 years. I currently live in Hanover, PA. Near Gettysburg. I found the world of the fish hobby back in 1996, after coming home from a deployment and getting a divorce. It has helped me a lot, and I will never not have at least 1 tank In my home. My girlfriend and I are looking to move to Florida in a few years when we retire, and I definitely want to go check out Imperial Tropicals. I can't wait!
Still watching the video as I type this but just wanted to say how much I appreciate this content! So interesting and informative, as well as great to see all the fish and the amazing setup at Imperial tropicals. Thanks so much for spending your time and money to make these videos.
This was a fantastic video!! In part, the company Imperial Tropicals speaks for itself as you watch the tour and listen to the knowledgable, passionate folks there, but you did an amazing job of interviewing, photography, and asking the BEST questions ever!! I have only ordered from them once but never knew what an incredible operation they have. Thank you so much for all the work you put into this production. It just blew me away!! Well done:)
Thank YOU, so much Mike! I had a great time and I cant state how grateful I was to speak with you about so many topics and i wanted to share your work with the folks who may not know about it, yet. Keep up the amazing work. And keep in touch. Happy New Years! @Mike Drawdy
Thank you for bringing us along with you on this tour. Your enthusiasm for the hobby encourages me not to throw in the towel. Love hearing you on the AG podcast also. Be well!
Hands down the absolute best fish on the planet! Been devoted to them for as long as I can remember. Prices are right on par, shipping is fair, and I have had at least a 95% successful rate on mortality. Thanx for the video. In the 90’s I lived 1 mile from Aquarium Co-op and still ordered fish from I.Tropical. Lol😂
Absolutely amazing farm thank you so much to Imperial Fish Farm for allowing this video to happen best tour I’ve seen and really nice chap showing you round ,well done 👍🏼
Thanks for the behinds the scenes look. I've ordered from Imperial Tropical before. Very healthy fish, fast delivery, well packed, and reasonably priced. Now I see why the fish were so healthy. I love your tours. Imperial Tropical is an incredible fish farm. 👍💖👍
So impressed that you managed to touch on the importance of aquariums for psychological resilience, and they way the hobby introduces our attention to environmental issues less than 8 minutes in!
I am so glad you visited them! I live in Potomac, MD, and the water here is terrible (very high GH with very low KH) and I had the worst experience with shrimp and crayfish. However, everything changed since I started to work with this company. Their fish and invertebrates seem to simply be healthier and hardier. They are excellent when packing and shipping fish and they are also very serious about timing. Again, thanks for featuring them!
I love that you discuss sociopolitical issues, stewardship of nature and how natural habitats are entangled within human interference and activities as well as within their individual and complex ecologies. Your channel is my favourite as you not only showcase species but also include really interesting discussions and facts 😊
I've had good luck w/ their fish -- they have a great selection for sure, and now I know why -- AMAZING spread and operation + doing things right. LOVE IT!!!
Was able to go here with the local fish club and these people are really nice and helpful. Just like it shows on the video. At the time they had the golden gar in one of the front display tanks and it was beautiful.
Dude. You’re seriously so cool. I live close to that shop, I didn’t even know it was there. I’ll definitely be going to check it out on my next day off.
Just got some regular blue acaras from IT. I was super impressed with the quality of them! After seeing this, I'm even happier knowing that I acquired them from a place like this! Thanks for the video, and thanks to Imperial Tropicals. Both of you guys, keep up the great work!!
Hey Mike just got some geophagus winemilleri from you about three weeks ago they're doing fantastic they arrived in great shape they're absolutely beautiful can't wait till they get full grown thanks for filling the order so quickly and neatly

yoooooooooooooooooo i love that story of how that delivery guy got into the hobby. i love stories like that becouse it was my friend thatgor me into the hobby with 2 swordtails and now i breed all types of fish. i love this hobby
Merry Christmas Alex! Wow you certainly hit all of the great spots on your trip to Florida. As a resident i hope to one day visit Mikes (Imperial Tropicals) awesome facility. Thanks for taking us on this tour :)
Chronic illness…check! Disabilities check! Buying show fish from Asia…check! 😅 I actually started my breeding program one week ago, thank you for such great info I hope to succeed in breeding my Ranchus, Oranda Pandas, short tail ryukin & crown pearlscales! I’ve also got 4 varieties of shrimp! I have kept fish in the past but this will be my first go at breeding I’m super excited 😊 thanks again
I just watching this video. I have always been loving creating life. It helps my ADHD to cool down when I watch my tanks. Unluckily time passed sometimes too fast when I watch everything going in my tanks. And damn.... sometimes expensive as well 😂
Yeah there are a lot of duplicates actually...so 3 tanks of the same fish breeding. But also it was like 600 tanks or something, and i didnt bother with the fish you see at petco or petsmart for the sake of time.
Ya I understand it would of took hours to go over every tank. I have been watching them for awhile hoping they would do a tour. But it's pretty impossible. Thanks for showing us the video.
@Alexander I just bought some false bandit corys from them. I was really impressed with the condition they arrived in. It's so fun to see where they came from!
This video was enjoyable! i started it a while ago, and finished it today. What a cool place to visit, Alex. Love it! Such cool fish! The favorite fish I've ever kept so far were the Praecox rainbows. Beautiful fish in their prime, but decided to sell them to pursue my nano fish tank. They got a great home, thankfully because those guys are too frantic for Nano fish and they'd have eaten them LOL You must have had a fantastic time visiting Imperial Tropicals! How fun!
It's funny how fish can fix what pharmacuticals couldn't. I was depressed for a year. I stayed in bed for a year. My husband took it upon himself to buy me a tank, cycle it, buy 2 of my favorite cichlids, and then aqua scape it so horrendously I had no choice but to intervene. He knew my love for the hobby. That one tank was enough to get me out of bed every day. He might be regretting it now. We have 4 personal tanks and several for fry.
I’ve never been one to buy fish online, it was just too expensive for shipping and the risk of them dying on the way home was enough to steer me clear of it. But, when I saw some picta rainbows and wanamensis rainbows on their site, I knew I had to try it. And I couldn’t have been any more satisfied. The fish came in stressed, but completely healthy. No ich, no weird wounds, just 2 bags of beautiful fish. And once they entered my 75 gallon, they started eating about 15 minutes in to being in a completely new environment. The picta rainbows have even started laying eggs that I hope to give to my LFS! I cannot recommend this place enough. An amazing selection of healthy, beautiful fish. It was all 100% worth it!
I love this! If you're still there can you do a short segment about how the tanks in the warehouse are set up? Like the plumbing and the air system and all? I'd love to see the mechanics of those tanks from the beginning. They had marten sponge and were on wooden racks. I couldn't really make heads or tails of what was an air line and what was a water line.
@@Fishtory I watched it as soon as you uploaded so I was hoping you had uploaded it from the hotel! Lol I was wondering if they had an auto water change system. I seen lots of matten filters
Thanks...im working on asking more obvious questions for folks not there, where things arent apparent in context, but i need tp stop having conversations and shut up lol
Awesome video! I watched the entire thing! I edit videos s d I know the amount of work it takes to put together long videos. Thanks for the great entertainment!
This might be your best video ever Alex; I loved it! I would be interested in knowing why they use aeration driven sponge filters in so many of their tanks and then Matten sponge filters in others which seemed to all be larger fish. I generally think of the Matten filters with fry, shrimp, etc. which I know Dean uses a lot, but these folks have them in tanks with much larger fish. Did this come up during your tour, or do you have your own thoughts on it? This place has what seems to be like 5 million glass tanks and they all look better than my small number. Is it because you did not include footage of the 500 people they must have working there keeping it this pristine LOL. Again, great video Alex. To answer your question, yes, more like this please!!
I think it was simply that they wanted all matten but its pricey... also they want better aeration and the ability to cool the outdoor ponds because those hothouses are 95-120f ...so it helps keep the water at 80 or 85 in summer...if you can get the sponge filters really bubbling
I know right. This coming week, I have another field trip. Past Poona onto the Cooloola area to visit Teewah and Carland Creeks, also known hotspots for Rhads.
Outstanding Vid Gentlemen 🙌🏼👍🏼 It would be nice if you could ask about the filtration. How is it Designed ? How do the foam dividers work ? Thank you in Advance 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Is it possible to do a video on to keep so many tanks... standing. I'm in awe of the ranks that can hold so much weight without fear of crashing. I want to start breeding shrimp but honestly have no idea how to set up tanks except one per stand.
hello everyone, the video is impressive the fish farm is really very incredible. during I have a question about the foams for the matten filter, what is their thickness and what is their density? 20 or 30 ppi? thank you in advance for the answer, and thank you for all the content you provide us.
Hey Alex, Do they sell to the public? i saw on their shirts, buy direct from the breeder, I only live about 2 hours from them and I'd love to take a tour of that farm, wow, fun video, Thanks missed you when you spoke at our club a few months back
This was a great video alex, just a wee note, i heard you 2 talk aboot mexican goodeids and how hobbyists are putting them back in the wild etc, i seen another video a couple of weeks ago on you tube on md fish tanks where they went to a zoo/aquarium type place, the man there was a goodeid expert and they were breeding 32 out of 38 species (hope im not misquoting the guy but yiu get the idea) making them one of the biggest goodeid collections in the world seemingly, it's worth a checkout
Yeah the goodied working group is the name of the program. They put back 7 or 8 successfully to small locations now... but yes there are over 130 some species and around 30 or 40 extinct in the wild i think...so that would sound correct. Id love to watch it. Thanks for the heads up! Happy New Years!
@Alek Koomanoff my numbers are definitely off in the last comment. But there are some people who count all the mexican livebearers as goodied... like some people arent calling the golden skiffia a goodied, some are. Right as i type this im on the Ameca river in Mexico and this river is home to 8 species but 6 of those are no longer here apparently...or only in a pond nearby thats a university project. The goodied working group is who id get info from for the genus and various species as a whole
interesting video, thanks! wishlist:a mike on the interviewed(so simular decibel)and as I spend a lot of time on your videos, if you could hold back a bit and let the subject do the talk
Thanks for the notes. Yeah i get too excited and i sometimes forget its an interview and not a chat between two reved up nerds. Also im trying to point out or question obvious things more, so i dont get comments asking about details we overlooked. We tried 2 mics...and unfortunately he spoke so softly and all the machinery was so loud that we mostly got feedback or ambient sounds, so i used a directional shotgun mic on the phone itself..but if i had a computer that could edit, id definitely remaster the sound. Thanks
It floods durring hurricanes once in a decade or so. But they have pumps and a deep trech to capture anything from leaving their ponds other than via birds
Hey sir, I was wondering if you had a solution. I did a 15% water change on a tetra 10 gallon and all of the fish got white spots and died. Only thought could be epistylis or ick. I am assuming it's not ick because I've had the fish for about a month and never had any issue. Epistylis on the other hand couldn't possible just develop overnight for doing a 15% water change. Anyways have no idea on this issue was trying to see if you any guidance?
Thanks for the video. I really like how it turned out. It was great meeting you.
Thank YOU so very much. I was about to send you a copy but i didnt realize the link went live until 4 hours after i started uploading it. It was a big data file hehe. Keep in touch and Merry Christmas. Thanks again, Mike

Those Chulumba crack me up, they look like a cichlid + Creek Chub
Outstanding Vid Gentlemen 🙌🏼👍🏼
It would be nice if you could ask about the filtration. How is it Designed ? How do the foam dividers work ?
Thank you in Advance 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I think i have footage of that...and can make a stand alone video at some point
@@Fishtory that would be awesome!! Thank you in advance 😎🙏🏼🙌🏼
WOW, that was impressive 😊
Yes it was!
Hopefully someone working there will respond. I think it was variable...but im not sure. Thank you
Love your videos can’t wait till to redo my basement
Thank you. Welcome to the channel also!
Hey Alex, Do they sell to the public? i saw on their shirts, buy direct from the breeder, I only live about 2 hours from them and I'd love to take a tour of that farm, wow, fun video, Thanks missed you when you spoke at our club a few months back
Yes indeed
2 of my favorites
Wow what nice place, is that wholesale only?
No you can order online too!
Alex you have numbers on goodeid species wrong.
one extinct, one extinct but in captivity, forty species in nature.
Let me ask: what are the dimensions of your 3-storey pool system (length, width and height). Your farm is very beautiful
interesting video, thanks! wishlist:a mike on the interviewed(so simular decibel)and as I spend a lot of time on your videos, if you could hold back a bit and let the subject do the talk
Thanks
Very cool place, Would love to go there some day. was the 2nd mike the son of the owner?
Nope! Just a 6 year employee
Does it flood there, and if so do the fish end up in different little outdoor ponds
It floods durring hurricanes once in a decade or so. But they have pumps and a deep trech to capture anything from leaving their ponds other than via birds
Thank you, I wish I could visit something like that. I will put it on my bucket list ")
