Quads are new to me! Was tearing my hair out on this one - thank you for this.
I've been having a sort of Sudoku-freeze for a couple of days! Didn't see that 5 which annoyed me considerably - but the icing on the cake was that quad - Brilliant
bro you are so crazy good at this.... i am here with my jaw on the floor.
I also used that quad in my solve, along with all those naked singles. Another fun episode.

12:32. I’m not doing great these last couple of days. Stared at that box 8 quad for way too long before I saw it
I think the last few days have been a bit more difficult - not sure why!
I never saw the quad. Around 6:10 in the video, where he places and discusses the quad, column 5 also has a 679 triple. It places 18 in R6C5 and R8C5. The 129 triple in column 9 gave me a finned X-wing in 1s, which removed the 1 from R8C8, placing the 2.
@@Rangsk They definitely were, maybe a new setter.
This was a nice puzzle. It was nice to find a *productive* finned X-wing in 1s, that resolved a bunch of 12s and filled out the right band except for a couple locked pairs and a locked triple. The finned X-wing was probably accidental, and it means that I probably missed something.
6:10 Where you find the quad, I spot the 679 triple in column 5. It leaves 18 in R6C5 and R8C5, and gives a finned X-wing in 1s, along with column 9. It removes the 1 from R8C8.
9:00 You caught the triple, and that placed the 1 and broke up the finned X-wing.
Use whatever you find! But yeah, you never need finned x-wings for the NYT puzzles.
