I think it’s crazy how such an old analog format can look so good and quality as high as 4K, and also looks better than even newer analog formats like VHS and Hi8.
Beautiful from start to finish, from the subject matter to the execution. I give you my highest possible compliment for this sort of thing - that I wish I had made it.
That was beautiful! Excellent music too! I recently found a Canon 310XL Super 8 camera in the thriftstore and bought it! All the mechanics seem to work fine! Today I received three cartridges, Kodak V3 50D, 250T and 500T. Excited to start experimenting! :)
You know, I don't believe I've ever used the auto. I think I've always matched the circle an the needle manually if I recall. It's been a while since I've shot with it though. I'm sure I also compared it to an external light meter as well, which is definitely a good idea seeing as how the calibration in a device this old always has the potential to be off.
A complete wow - inspired choices of subject and items for the colour - I love in particular how the 100D brings out the turquoise of the water, the beachball was so good it's made me buy one for my own film shoot with Super 8! Very inspiring. (and I subscribed)
Slow motion on motion picture film is achieved by running the camera at high speed (exposing the film at some speed over 24fps, and then playing the film back at 24fps--the frame rate of this video you are watching). I shot those segments at 54fps. The Nizo has an amazing little button that allows you to rev the engine from 24fps to 54fp, quickly, without turning a knob or shaking the camera. You can just tap the "54" button. Cheers! -Alec
@@danielkornak3 Do not believe that I used 18fps. I definitely used the other two. You can see me modulating in shot from 24fps to 54 when it suddenly becomes slow motion.
Thrillingly evocative

Yeah, I know what you mean :)

Goodness gracious! Thank you so much for these kind words. They are the kind of thing that keeps me making art. Really appreciate it. Blessings! -Alec

Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Very cool. Film rocks!
Thanks! Agreed.
@@AlecEagon I shot my last major super 8 film with a Canon 1014 XL-S, with the 7266 black & white reversal stock. Super 8 is amazing!
@@lancelucero6849 Love it! Timeless. Keep it up!

Wow, so glad it gave you such inspiration. Really makes my day to hear that. Cheers!
Beautiful!! What camera and lens did you use?
So glad you like it. Nizo 801M, with the built in lens.
@Alec Did you do some colorgrading? 🤔
Nope. These were how the scans came from Lightpress in Seattle. They do great HD scans of Super 8mm.
Hi, i plan to shot Ektachrome like this
Did you control exposure by external light meter? Or just in camera light meter
I believe I used the internal on auto, since mine is working, but I always double check on a cinema light meter!
how did you do the slow motions on these?

dude your film is awesome.
just want to ask how did you get 4K resolution with a 8m film?
Either scan it with a 4K scanner or scan it really well with a 1080P scanner and upres it the way I did here!
How many frames per sec?
18, 24, or 58fps. Those are the only settings that the Nizo 801M can run at :)
@@AlecEagon so you used all 3 settings at this video?
