- July 26, 2011 - This is where the power plant gets water to make up for evaporative losses from the cooling towers. Each cooling tower holds 7 million gallons of water and over 250 gallons per second is evaporated out of each one in order to provide the ultimate heat sink.
The rejected heat from the plant goes into making some beautiful clouds and not into heating the river so thermal pollution is not a problem.
The sign reads:
"DANGER
WATER INTAKE
DO NOT APPROACH
WITHIN 200 FT."
