  • Well another year has gone by, it's gets harder each year to think of what to say. I can't believe you have been gone for 9 years, you would have been a teenager now, you missed out on so much just because of a broken promise. So many dreams shattered, so much heartache. You are never forgotten Haylee, your legacy will live on until the end of time. Sleep tight angel.
On June 3rd 2006, 9 years ago today, Haylee was at a family bbq with her mommy Sonya and baby brother Thomas. Haylee was happily playing in the pool when Sonya asked her to come out so she could change Thomas' wet clothes, she begged for only 10 more minutes.
Haylee's step-grandma stepped in and promised to watch Haylee, Sonya reluctantly agreed and went inside. Straight after her step-grandma went inside also, leaving Haylee unattended in the pool.
Less than 10 minutes had gone by when Sonya heard shouting outside, "call 911", she went outside thinking someone had hurt their foot or something like that. She found her 4 year old baby girl laying on the ground having cpr done on her. She was already turning blue, it was too late to save her.
Because a promise was broken, because her step-grandma couldn't be bothered to watch her for 5 minutes, Haylee lost her little life.
4 years old, hardly no time at all on earth, but she lived those 4 years to the fullest she could. She lived and loved. She could have become so much, but she'll forever be the loving, twirling, sweet baby girl that she was.
    Please raise childhood drowning awareness.
NEVER leave a child unattended in or around the body of water, it takes just 20 seconds for a child to drown, they can't scream or splash, you wouldn't notice what was happening unless you were fully watching your child. Your eyes will save your child, not toys or floaties. Be responsible around water.
    Always remember Haylee Danyelle Mazzella.
    July 13th 2001 - June 3rd 2006.
    Forever loved, forever remembered.
