Melanie played at a music festival near my hometown in the early 2000s. She was the only act I wanted to see out of the entire lineup. Unfortunately, rain cancelled her performance before she ever got on stage. I never got an opportunity to see her perform after that. Her music and those like her were staples in my house when I was growing up, my parents having been born in the 50s and raised through the 60s and 70s... Is it weird to feel nostalgia for something you didn't live through? Both of my folks are dead now also. Music like this keeps me connected to them.
I love this comment so much 🥰 I feel what you feel on the same level. It's funny how music brings us back to certain times and people in our lives. Take care my friend ❤
6.02am in Melbourne and l am right here to learn about Melanie! She had such an emotional voice and was such a beauty. And she was funny! I loved the reworking of Brand New Key into Combine Harvester, she wasn’t afraid to take the mickey out of herself. I loved her style too. Only halfway through as l write this, you’ve really captured her spirit. Thank you!🤗
It seems like I've loved Melanie forever. She was a bit younger than me, and I'm saddened that I didn't go first. Though Linda Ronstadt made the song, "Long, Long Time" her own, it didn't touch me as deeply as Melanie's version - it ripped my heart out, it's so powerful, which I recommend to all. Melanie was the ideal hippie chick, brilliant and beautiful. RIP, beloved.
she is awesome and will live forever!

This is a fake bot voice,it's a lazy lame ass video.
Love to hear her sing. Love her song "Lay Down"!✌️
Melanie was my celebrity crush back in the day, and I was very sad when she died.
Glad you mentioned her album "Photograph", her finest album by far, it's the one I play the most. Cheers
The light went out the day this lady left us.
My first true love, RIP dear Lady

Her death made me tearful as I renewed my relationship with one of clearest portrayers of our 1960s ideals.
I didn’t realise she had died 😔 the good book ❤️awesome lady
Wonderful person!
She was beautiful in a classic '60s way.
Was that Powder Ridge in Middlefield CT? I seem to recall they tried to recreate another Woodstock type event but it was shut down….?
The first time I heard the song Brand New Key was on American Top 40 with Casey Kasem.
A beautiful soul now in God's Peace. x
I had such a crush on her ! 😅❤
She had such a nice, pleasant face.
Her version of Ruby Tuesday is the GOAT.
She was born Melanie Safka, Schekeryk came after she married Peter Peter Schekeryk.
