I watched the entire funeral on TV all day, but here the perspective is completely different. Much more deep and overwhelming.
Damn, I can't believe it myself, but my tears are falling when I watch this.
We have a New King
I was in Horseguards Parade when the funeral service began,. Wasn't expecting anything for at least a half hour when out of the blue, the Tidworth Army band came through the arch banging the big drum and strartled everyone. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck at times during the preliminaries.
Amazing no other country on the planet can pull a show on like that in such short notice mind blowing nerve tingling
Soviet Union, anyone?
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea???
@@bigwildcat2020 shut up and stop dreaming no other country on the planet has the prestige the uk has.

Thank you for uploading this, I've actually seen more of the procession through your videos than on the tv. Our military done the Queen proud.
Thank you very much, I am glad I have been able to provide some different viewpoints on the event!

Great video ! Amazing bands ! 1st class soldiering . The Queen would be so proud of them all

Very nice video. Seen from a different viewpoint than mainstream TV and with no annoying talking heads.
Just in terms of pure musicality the Bands of the Welsh and Irish Guards deserve special mention for the attention paid to the dynamics and the contrast between forte and piano. Excellent
Amazing video!! I hadn’t realised there was so much more to the funeral than on tv! Amazing footage in this video! Makes you proud of the send of the military give our queen! Very special
Thank you very much!

Absolutely top notch video! those sailors pulling the gun carriage, outstanding. Thank you.
Mendelssohns funeral March is so powerful. Wow
It beats the rest hands down, in my opinion. It's amazing it's not better known.

My favourite by far.

RIP Queen Elizabeth 2 long live the king 🤴
Very good. Saw much more of the rest of the procession than on TV. Thank you👍👍👍
The bass drummer(s) knitted that entire thing together, flawlessly. What a marathon feat.
Absolutely, they must have been exhausted by the end of the Parade. The Band immediately in front of the Gun Carriage was The Combined Coldstream & Scots Guards Band. The Senior Household Division Time Beater is Colour Sergeant Neil Brocklehurst - Scots Guards
I love watching military bands and thank you for these selection of videos. I didn't get to see the procession on tv; was busy cleaning planes.
Thank you, I’m glad I could bring you this coverage of the bands from the event!
That sucks; I was already in procession at home with my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE as the whole of Wales watched all 5 of us on. What a day it was; Thank you Woody.EXE for paying an incredible tribute to the Queen
Thank you for posting this too. I couldn't possibly be in two places at once so never had a clue that this was going on. I was in Horse Guards at this time and wondered what was going on, the other side of the arch
The music was amazing
Thank you for your video remembrance of this stupendous event. All of the bands were wonderful. To me, the lowering of the flags at the Cenotaph was the most moving moment of the procession-- all branches of the military lowered their flags to the ground as the coffin passed in front of them. 🇬🇧
A great send off. Very fitting.
Walch's march was the most impressive music! I will never forget that funeral.
The public has been amazing they were so very respectful in this sad event restraint was their motto, the British people are to be honored for how they handled this. Listen to them, poetry in motion
There is absolutely nothing as stirring,as a military band, marching past you.
Good Save The King
Surreal event. Thank you all that serve.
Thanks for posting (and timestamping) Great to see things from a different perspective.
14:00 the horse in the lead keeps perfect step to the beat with its front feet all the way.
I just think this bit of the Mendelssohn sounds amazing at 15:58
Absolutly!! It is an incredible bit of music and works especially well for a military band in this setting. Both heroic but also mournful!
So majestic in every way
The silence of the public, amazing.
well, it's a funeral after all.

Wales was like that as the crowd got to watch me, my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE on in our procession for Queen Elizabeth II. I’ll never forget this day for sometime and Mummy, Princess of Wales comforted me a few times during the day
Hi, the Street Lining Band was RM Band Scotland and not CTC Band . CTCRM Band were the last RM Band and were marching group 7- representatives of Civilian Service . Glad that you videod the bands, my colleagues and I were disappointed by the televised coverage on the day.
Well deserved tribute.
Excellent quality picture, crystal clear and useful timeline/stamps.
Thank you
Thank you for getting the music titles right, I've been looking for the one with the coffin and couldn't find an answer anywhere
14:15 so cool how the horses march on time

The Band of the Coldstream and Scots Guards - Felix Mendelssohn - Funeral March from Lieder ohne Worte Book 5 op 62 no. 3 (1843) at 15:03 if someone has a complete record of the band alone (not from the queen funeral and without ambiant noises) for this song I want it that's too good !
This was recorded by The Band of the Household Cavalry in the two weeks after the funeral. soundcloud.com/user-152351074/mendelssohn-funeral-march

It's interesting seeing it from the point of view of someone in the crowd.
So proud that we have a monarchy which reminds all of us that no matter how far we stray from our true identities, we can always be led home by simple brass band music.
THE TRUE BRITS . NOW WE KNOW WHO THE REALLY ARE . BRAVO .
The lost tribe of Ephraim.
Wish I was 20 again loved to have joined the guards , maybe I couldn’t with a flat foot
I was surprised that the 'Dead March' from Handel's 'Saul' did not make an appearance at any stage. It's normally a staple on occasions like this, is it not?
Another of my favourites is the march from the funeral music for Queen Mary by Henry Purcell. Had it been included somewhere, there would have been at least one British funeral march.
What you stated was Chopin's funeral march was actually Beethoven's funeral march.
It is known as "Beethoven Funeral March Number 1" however it was actually composed by Johann Heinrich Walch
Very good video
Excellent bands. Question: Why are the maces carried by some drum majors covered in black but others are not?
The Foot Guards used to put a black hood over the head of the mace only and also the DM used to hold the mace at the "carry" position in the opposite hand (right) than the usual, but this all seems to have been dropped.
Thank you so much for this video. And on behalf of anglophiles the world over, I offer my sympathy for your loss.
I noticed that some of the officers are carrying sticks/batons instead of swords. Could someone please explain what is the meaning of this?
They are parade marshals marching beside but not part of the individual units forming the parade. Their purpose is to ensure the correct line of march and to maintain the prescribed intervals between units.
@@Scipionic1941 Thank you for posting this!
Hi, thanks for uploading but, ,nobody does pageantry like the British, and sorry for being the pedant but at 10:52 there was a funeral march but not writtten by Chopin or Beethoven. It is called the Beethoven funeral march but written by Johan Heinrich Walch
Having seen a Pathe newsreel of George VI's funeral in which a band played Handel's Dead March from Saul, I realised I hadn't heard it at the Queen's funeral. Is it out of favour for some reason, or did I just miss it?
That’s a very good point. That was not one of the chosen funeral marches for her majesty’s procession. I am unsure if there is a reason as to why but would be interested if someone could provide light to this. Very good spot sir!
@@MilitaryBandsEverywhere If, as I understand, all the funeral arrangements had been approved by the Queen years ago, perhaps she just didn't like it.
At 22:55 two of the horsemen are carrying axes.... these axes were used to finish off wounded horses in battle.
They are farriers of the Household Cavalry
Who were the officers who marched beside the various contingents? They were carrying wands from the right hip in the style of a Field Marshals' baton. Marines, Guards Navy and RAF. Any ideas?
Five regiments of foot guards
Love the death march ...music..well chosen chopan?
It was Beethoven’s 1,2 and 3 although one of which is now believed to have been written by a man called Johan Walch. Chopin, Panne and Mendelssohn’s funeral marches were also played.
And others regiments
Were there 3 bands playing at the same time??
There were 7along the processional route playing at once but far enough apart not to overlap!
The two horsemen riding behind the Marines band, they look like guards officers, so what was their role please?
Which Royal Marine Band are you referring too and at what part in the video as there are a few that march past in various parts of the morning’s events.
@@MilitaryBandsEverywhere Oh sorry, right at the start around 58 seconds white horse and black horse
Where did the mounties set off from I can't see them in this video? It's confused me cos they seem to vanish at the end as well in that park
The whole procession spanned from the junction of Horse Guards Approach and the Mall all the way across Horse Guards, down Whitehall to Westminster Abbey. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police headed the procession in front of the first band (The Band and Bugles of the Rifles) at the bottom of the Mall therefore not on this video. However you can see them on my video of the early morning rehearsal that was taken from that exact location where the whole procession goes past unlike this video where it starts in the middle due to my positioning on the press stand.
@@MilitaryBandsEverywhere yea I thought they must of started from the mall

It’s not Chopin’s march, it’s Walch’s.

I wonder what the people think about Charles being their King now.
He will be really good
We love it.
Since Elizabeth II died, there has been much publicity, not so much thought about why she matters, and why monarchy is helpful in general. Monarchy shouldn't be used as real-life soap opera, nor as mere material to fill space in the media.
The achievement of the British monarchy should become clear in comparison with the histories of other countries. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics, and which opposes illegal dictatorship. If there are many reasons England, Wales, Scotland, Canada and Australia have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy to unify all the people is an important reason. In the UK, 'peace' in formal speech is "The King's Peace".
Of course Prince Andrew must disappear from public life; King Charles III's first marriage was a tragic mistake; Prince Philip could be tactless. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the unity the monarchy gives in the UK & the world. The sea around it didn't protect the U.S.A. against civil war in the 1860s, and the UK could have suffered civil war over slavery in the 19th century; likewise over world war, loss of empire, economic failure, or race in the 20th. There will always be violence and political problems in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the British monarchy and the stability it brings Britain, the commonwealth (e.g. Canada & Australia). By stabilizing Britain & the commonwealth, it promotes peace in the world. Since the 1700s, billions of people have lived under the British crown without civil war, lynching, dictatorship in their lives. God save King Charles III, and his successors.
Whilst every one focused on the church service the military men are busy outside.
Beethoven..sorry

I speculated when I watched the Funeral live that at no time was the Queens body in that coffin. To me in today's climate seems risky. Last thing they wanted to see was a Suicide bomber take out the coffin.
