To me Jamie is the perfect Jace and Lily is the perfect Clary and the whole cast of the movie was at least in my opinion spot on. I've read half of the books and I still imagine this cast as the characters. The books had such a big potential to be made into a successful movie franchise and I hate that they only made one movie. I've watched it a million times 'cause I love Jamie as Jace, he's just perfect for the role and I wished there were more movies so I could see more of him as Jace. I still can't get over how well they did casting him.
Yeah. I honestly CANNOT see Dom Sherwood as Jace, and Katherine looks nothing like Clary. Why is everyone so hyped up about the new cast? I mean, the Simon in the TV show is ehh, but the Isabelle and Alec is just like ughhhhhh. *facepalm* Casting fail for the TV show.
Yeah. Magnus is good. We can keep him, but bye-bye to the other characters and actors. And they also aged up the characters by 2 years which means Clary, Jace, Simon, and Isabelle are 18, Alec and Magnus are 20. And Clary's parents are goodness only knows how old.
The sad thing is that they were all so confident that the movie would be so successful but it didn't do so well which is also sad cause I loved the movie so much and I hate the director for dropping out of doing a sequel if it weren't for him they would have still done the sequel

Does anyone else wish that they could still follow through with the rest of the movies? I’ve been rereading all the books during quarantine and I can’t help but imagine this entire cast as the characters in the books. I think Jamie is perfect as Jace, Lily as Clary, etc. I don’t want to trash the series because I’m sure they worked really super hard on it, but it’s just not the best in my opinion. I even cried when I looked up the City of Ashes and found out that they never finished the movie. I was so hopeful that maybe there was a second movie and I had just never watched it.

Judging from this interview and others, the cast seems to be so nice and genuine and it sounds like they really put their hearts and souls into this movie and it really paid off because I absolutely love it. Those who criticize the movie too harshly are too close-minded and are not watching the movie with the spirit it was intended to be watched with. I think everyone that was cast in the movie fit perfectly and I wouldn't change anything about it for the world. I remember when I first saw it in theaters I was so excited and I dragged my friends along. It lived up to way beyond my expectations! I loved it so much that now I own it on DVD! So does my friend! Being a teenager (aka the target demographic) I say they did very well at adapting The City of Bones. Seriously, if you're going to judge a movie badly, go judge the first Twilight movie because that one was at least 10 times worse than the City of Bones. Jamie for being such a different and interresting person, Lily for being so sweet nice and corky at the same time, Simon just being a weirdo as he is in the movie, Kevin being so poised and sleek and yet looking bad ass :D I just love this cast, the cast is amazing and I don´t care who disagrees :D they did a great job.....Jamie is my favourite thx to Camelot, where his actinig was just fenomenol.
It's so adorable and sweet how at the end Jamie puts his head on Lily's shoulder but then kinda sad that she almost immediately bends forward away from him. If he did something that sweet I would stay still just to let him stay there. It shows true emotion from him.

Awesome movie! Awesome cast! Since I found this DVD rental in my local library, I've watched it almost every day for the last 2 weeks. After the rental was due back, I bought the DVD the very next day... This movie draws you in to the fantasy from beginning to end, and leaves you waiting for more. Looking forward to the sequel and glad to see that the characters have such a close chemistry off the screen as well as on, and that they believe in what they've done. It's all good!

lets just also point out that they had a whole section talking about how Cassandra was a part of it so that the heart and essence of the book was there. She allowed the changes to happen, so all those fans getting caught in the nitpicky details like... The author and creator of the world okayed it and approved it and helped make it what it was. The movie tried so hard to make sure the important essence of the story and characters were int eh show, they didn't just want to make a franchise they wanted to make something that did the books justice. And the cast cared so much, and when they talk at the end about being nervous to share it I got like emotional because they shared something so close to them and got shot down and burnt and for no reason. Why couldn't we have trusted and loved this like the creator of all of it did?

I never imagined Clary being carrot top red, I understand that on the covers her hair was firey but that was to make the cover look prettier and more interesting. Red hair is interesting because it is different in different lightings, it can be auburny or firey (with the same tone) it all depends on how the light picks it up. (this is coming from a red-haired girl [not carrot top orangey but more like the color of Clary or Jocelyns in the movie.])

Jamie for being such a different and interresting person, Lily for being so sweet nice and corky at the same time, Simon just being a weirdo as he is in the movie, Kevin being so poised and sleek and yet looking bad ass :D I just love this cast, the cast is amazing and I don´t care who disagrees :D they did a great job.....Jamie is my favourite thx to Camelot, where his actinig was just fenomenol.
I hope they make City of Ashes, City of Bones wasn't horrible, but now you know what to do, and you can make it better

This is how I picture Simon as a vampire. Especially since he grows his hair to cover the mark.
It's so adorable and sweet how at the end Jamie puts his head on Lily's shoulder but then kinda sad that she almost immediately bends forward away from him. If he did something that sweet I would stay still just to let him stay there. It shows true emotion from him.

Awesome movie! Awesome cast! Since I found this DVD rental in my local library, I've watched it almost every day for the last 2 weeks. After the rental was due back, I bought the DVD the very next day... This movie draws you in to the fantasy from beginning to end, and leaves you waiting for more. Looking forward to the sequel and glad to see that the characters have such a close chemistry off the screen as well as on, and that they believe in what they've done. It's all good!
Im glad im not the only one to notice the sad Jamie face at the end. We definitely need the next movie! I love when these guys get together! They crack me up! And they look Hot!

I wish they took this cast and tried again. I wished they tried again so that we could have something like for Harry Potter or the hungergames. I wish I had this wonderful series binge watchable for nostalgia's sake.
lets just also point out that they had a whole section talking about how Cassandra was a part of it so that the heart and essence of the book was there. She allowed the changes to happen, so all those fans getting caught in the nitpicky details like... The author and creator of the world okayed it and approved it and helped make it what it was. The movie tried so hard to make sure the important essence of the story and characters were int eh show, they didn't just want to make a franchise they wanted to make something that did the books justice. And the cast cared so much, and when they talk at the end about being nervous to share it I got like emotional because they shared something so close to them and got shot down and burnt and for no reason. Why couldn't we have trusted and loved this like the creator of all of it did?
The need to pick up a sequel like in the books, and with the same cast!! I loved the movie.

Even though the movie was different than the book I loved it. And I love Jamie as Jace. And Lily as Clary. Fuck the red hair issue, and the hotness issue. This movie was good. And I don't think there's anything else that matters.

I never imagined Clary being carrot top red, I understand that on the covers her hair was firey but that was to make the cover look prettier and more interesting. Red hair is interesting because it is different in different lightings, it can be auburny or firey (with the same tone) it all depends on how the light picks it up. (this is coming from a red-haired girl [not carrot top orangey but more like the color of Clary or Jocelyns in the movie.])

It's ironic how they praise Cassie on how she like the projects n were happy with how characters n things were portrayed but then later in reality when the movie flop, Cassie backtracked n said she nvr had enough involvement n control over things, insinuating that she was not happy about how things were. It's one of the reasons i started disliking her. Anyways, this movie had many issues but i greatly enjoyed it n loved the main casts. The tv series, not so much. I'm pretty much out of this fandom now n are just glad that City of Bones were d film that brought me into the booktube n goodreads community. It was when i started reading novels. So these actors n the movie will always have a special place in my heart. Also, these ppl r just so likeable especially Jamie n Lily.
