I’m glad you got a cosmetic chemist for this, when I first saw the title I legit thought it was going to be some random influencer who had declared themselves a lipstick expert.
@@20thcenturyrelic something like that usually not a formal degree. After you got chemistry degree, you can add certification for your skills. This one on the video seems like she have organoleptic skill certification in make-up industry. There also one that do on food, drinks, fruits, etc.
Weird that Allure can put chemist here but not on the videos with Javon who is also a cosmetic chemist, despite half the comment sections on Javon's videos being the audience stating they want Allure to put his title.
If he does another video and they don’t give him the “chemist” credit, they’ll really be saying something about themselves They already are, but maybe they want to dig deeper?
I've bought a lot of different lipsticks throughout the past 10 years, and although expensive doesn't automatically mean better, I haven't found a lupstick better than the ines I use now, and they're like... $35 on sale
@@lollsazz which brands do you like best? I am currently in love with the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks, but I'm always in search of other nice brands and formulas 😊
@@totesflaisch My favorite line is the Sensai Intense Lasting Lipsticks. They are very hydrating (I use them daily in the winter, living in the North), but don't slip around or bleed. Most of them are also quite buildable: sheer if swiped once or twice, and full coverage after 2-3 swipes. Leave behind a nice, light stain that can be removed easily using makeup remover :)
Wow!!! Love this cosmetic chemist! She’s so great at explaining what we should be looking for in our makeup 😊 Can she do foundations or eyeshadow next????
I would love to see eyeshadows, I am personally of the belief that you should splurge on good quality eyeshadow palettes but I would love to be proved wrong.
I watch so many review videos but it’s hard to find if someone is being honest and knows the actual science behind make up. This led me to wasting a lot of time and feeling misled! This is the type of content we need more of these days! Great job Allure! Can she do more reviews for us?
I would love to see more videos with her as well! In the meantime, check out Robert Welsh's channel -- he's a professional makeup artist who teaches makeup theory, and does all kinds of honest reviews of different brands/products and techniques.

MOUSSE LIP CREAM: Sample A is NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ($6.50) Sample B is MAC Powder Kiss Liquid Lipcolour ($26) MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK: Sample A is Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick ($20) Sample B is NYX Professional Makeup Lip Lingerie XXL Matte Liquid Lipstick ($10) GLOSS FINISH LIPSTICK: Sample A is Dior Addict Refillable Shine Lipstick ($42) Sample B is Urban Decay Vice Hydrating Lipstick in the high shine finish ($19). L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick is a very similar product. CLASSIC RED LIPSTICK: Sample A ($8): This is NYX Suede Matte Lipstick in Spicy. Sample B ($21): Likely MAC Retro Matte Lipstick. Agree with other comment that it looks like Ruby Woo. Edited to add that identification made off ingredient lists when possible. It's unfortunate that Allure didn't fully blind the packaging of solid lipsticks but this did help finding products when ingredients weren't given. Additional edit to correct the Urban Decay product.
The most obvious for me were the Dior Addict (like come on, the shape of the packaging totally gave it away😂) and the MAC Retro Matte (that finish is so recognisable, glad it wasn’t just me HAHA)! And the NYX red lipstick, they literally showed the shade name LOL Thanks for this comprehensive list🤩
We all know why that is and it's very upsetting , and the fact that they have yet to "correct" the issue confirms that, but we better not say what it is though, or we will be "playing the card"
Would be perfect if we could know the products and the brands. There are hits & misses both in high end and low cost so, depending on the selection, the result can change 100%. Imagine the best of low cost vs the worst of luxury and vice versa🤯
I wanna know her opinion on some non-luxury products that she thinks are good though , even though they are lower priced 🤔 to me, that'd be more useful information.
This is so interesting to watch as a makeup artist. I personally splurge on lip products for my more mature clients and those looking for unique colors. I find the quality difference between drugstore and high end isn’t enough to justify buying all high end lip products, especially with the variety in the market now!
Lately I’ve been loving Chantecaille lipsticks. I have 2 of their colors, and I’d like more. I either have to travel to try on colors or order blindly online though.
I loved this video!!! 🎉 ❤ 🎉 Having read other viewer reviews, I'm not alone in really appreciating the depth, and explanation of the ingredients of one product vs. another, specific ingredients that create a gloss look, or how powder pigments effect the drag of a lippie. We LOVE this info! Please have Christina Han on again (maybe a series regular! 😊). And I really enjoyed that this was a longer video. Thank you Allure! ❤ 🎨 ❤
Yes.yes.yes. I love experts that know what they talk about and are not sponsored to say something to sell it to us. Just the hard facts and her giving opinion 👌 Love it!
This was very fun to watch! But, you refer to Christina as a Chemist (rightfully so) but refer to Javon as a "makeup expert"? He's also a chemist. That's cringe and wrong.
see how come you guys call her a chemist and not the black guy, y'all called him a "makeup expert" when he was a cosmetic chemist. It feels purposeful :/, this was even made before y'all even posted Javon. like ur really not giving him his flowers and recognition. all these comments are like "oo when I saw chemist in the title I knew it was gonna be legit" like- Javon is legit too
I really hate NYX's original Lip Lingerie (it flakes everywhere and kills my lips), but their XXL Lip Lingeries feel amazing on my lips, long lasting, low transfer, smooth color. Affordable, and beat the product twice its price in this vid-- I'm not surprised!!
The cheaper lip mousse (sample A) was a NYX Soft Matte lip cream, not sure which shade. The more expensive classic red (sample B) is probably MAC Retro Matte in Ruby Woo.
The glossy lipstick for sample B contains phenyl silicones as the first and third ingredients which also contributes to the high gloss. Something that the cosmetic chemist didn't point out!
This was really interesting. Sometimes expensive brand does not equal better quality, or they do but the price difference doesn't justify that. I found that's the case with eye mascara and lipstick. There are too many unexpensive brands that can compete with the best ones. Foundation and concealer, on the other side, are probably the only kind of products where I would prefer to spend more money
I’ve seen a few of these testing various cosmetics Allure posted. I realise they’re not influencers but it’d help immensely if they listed the products tested.
Nice techniques used and nice comparisons.Smart check-out in the ingredients. If expensive or cheap ,I liked all colors and their pigmentation ,they were very intense and vivid and this is what I like in swatches.
As someone who went thru so many liquid lipsticks, i knew b would be cheaper. They tend to last long but theyre not as comfortable. Now im kinda curious, cheap korean products vs luxury brands. I dont think i own any western brands anymore since switching to korean products
