Marcelo P Insteresting that you talk about windvane, I bought mine from Estonia! The best valued windvane on the market, created by Imre Aljas, an Estonian circunavigator - Windyselfsteering.com. BTW, who sings the "whiskey in the jar" on your introduction? Sorry, we could see your comment only in email but not underneath the video. I don’t know why is that.. so I copied it here: Wow I am from Estonia! We bought also a monitor windvane and his name is Thomas!:) In next episode we introduce him. Our helmsman. Song is Irish artist we found online that we could afford- Thin Lizzy was out of our reach:)
Can't wait to try this! I must take issue with your comments about fin keels, though. I have a 30ft fin keel and, when I have the sails balanced, she will track straight as an arrow. Rough seas do tend to knock her about a bit, so maybe she will turn easier, but I think this should work just fine. I'll let you know in 6 months when we're back in the water again.
Yes sir you're absolutely right. Thin kills or pain in the rudder.I do haul but with my fin kill but it works me to death. I had a 65 Columbia 24 foot. Basically the same layout on the Triton. Oh I miss that boat so much should have never got rid of it thank you for your biz hope to see more from you.. The rougarou lake Pontchartrain.
Did I miss something with this video? I did not see any explanation as to what a "sheet to tiller" is. I mean I know what the tiller is, and you showed what the rope setup was at the tiller. But what is a sheet? And how is the other end of the rope attached, and to what is it attached to? I think overall, this is an interesting episode, but I feel like I'm missing a huge part of some kind of inside-information here, as if I may not have been the intended audience. I've gone back and looked at the video a few times, and I'm wondering if the sail that is draped over the cabin has something to do with it? If so, how is that sail, which laying against the cabin, effectively steering?
Someday they will be amazed at how good walking is!! They way the world is becoming, walking will be something we don't have to do anymore. Old ways are and still better !!!
Hi! Im wandering sheet to tiller, will it work on Chinese Junk Rigg... Start to like this simple and efficient rigg. Any exercise or ideas? Tbanks and Fair winds!
That’s so simple! Never thought of doing it that way. I’ve rigged up sheet to tiller before with the jib sheet going through blocks across the cockpit and back to the tiller with a shock cord on the other side. Does that actually keep you on course for an extended period of time
Yes we bought one for Pearson Triton. After buying new boat we took a monitor windvane from Pearson Triton and installed it to our new double ender which was a task. And autopilot came with the new boat.
@@SailingLiberty He obviously thought people knew was talking about but not being a sailor lots of stuff I didnt understand ,, he said it was hard to set up and the vid showed the boat sailing upright and going quite fast for the conditions ,,
Sure, we all like pretty girls on sailing videos and comment to the effect that “this is awesome” repeatedly, but wish you spent a few moments explaining how it worked with diagrams. Admittedly, I did not watch every minute because as a muggle, I make my living going to work every day. Thanks much.
Hi! I will take that comment as a wizard and show some more diagrams when we are trying self steering next time- sheet to tiller- sheet to wheel etc. Good comment. Thanks, Helen

Wow. Been using a bungee and a line to the boom. This looks much simpler. Can't wait to try this.😊 thank you.
Low tech tip that really works. Love it you guys are a breath of fresh air!! Looking forward to future sailing!!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
She is really beautiful with lots of purrsonality! Happy Trails.

Love it. My heart was racing. Can’t wait to to see more. Be safe. Take care biggest fan Dave
I would like to see more of your Sailboat interior. Cheers
I can’t wait to sail mine. Sounds like your having a blast!
How come I’ve never seen this self steering tip before. Good stuff. Thanks
Great video, can’t wait to try that…

Start to like this simple and efficient rigg.
Any exercise or ideas?
Tbanks and
Fair winds!
You guys are priceless:)
Thanks for the videos!
am 77 now and a land lubber,in earlyier years had sloop rig single handed rig,all to cockpit .
Awesome tip! Thanks for the pointers! :)
New subber binge watching. Nice vids! MV Summer Lovin'❤
you need a monitor in saloon to give vision of hazards seaward when below.
nice

Yes, it keeps me on the wind. Think I have done about an hour while day sailing.
Do you guys have a new boat? Just sayin' that where you film yourselves talking, the space looks a lot bigger than I would expect from a 28 foot boat.
Hi Leigh! :)
Good eye! Will introduce her in couple of episodes from now. Right now we are using her space for studio until Hokahey episodes are over.
Will you ever buy a mechanical self-steering device again?
Yes we bought one for Pearson Triton. After buying new boat we took a monitor windvane from Pearson Triton and installed it to our new double ender which was a task. And autopilot came with the new boat.
Watched a vid , a German was sailing solo using that rig,,, he called it a butterfly ,,
Wow neat! Now we have a name for it! Thank you! 😊⛵️
