Hoooly i had a battle with these errors: 54C6 (oil wear - replace transfer oil), 54C8 (resistor, it holds old values). So as long as 54C8 holds old values you'll have both errors appearing non stop. What to do is quite simple, delete the module error, it'll ask you to turn off ignition -> it'll delete the errors -> DO NOT SCAN the car for errors as it'll save the old values again, instead -> enter the ISTA (i've used ISTA+) or any other tool -> go to resistor exchanged, reset the resistor value -> then do the oil wear reset or vice versa, i don't think it matters -> you should be good to go as long as the resistor doesn't have faults in memory!
The resistor has no memory or any functions. It is just resistors in a plastic shell that the VTG module reads to have manufacturing spec information for that precise transfer box.
I just had to replaced the transfer case control Module and ended up spending 1700$ it included the new update on the system and a replacement on the R/R classification sensor.
It can scan your system give you the issue and clear the code but keep in mind that 4x4 light just means the traction system is down. So depending on what code it gives it may or may not come back.
@@southerngearz it’s giving me that shuddering problem on turns at low speeds and thuds and shuddering when i get to red lights. I’ve narrowed it down to the transfer case as main culprit and getting the “5DEC - transfer case ECU: clutch temporarily shut down” code. I thought it was my rear diff. So i just spent my whole evening changing its fluid only to hear and feel a terrible ride on my beloved car.
@@southerngearz ive had them crap out on me before but It was giving errors for the front left so I swapped it to no success. The blue connector on the cars end was broken at the end so I had to pull it by the wire; I’ll splice a new one in when i can get one
Yea turned out that I needed to change my transfer case fluid. I got a foxwell nt530 and I was able to reset my transfer case. The lights havent been back since.

will xdelete remove the 4x4 lights on dash ?

wait so are you saying that it helped?
Nope didnt help just seemed that way. Turned out to be my transfer case fluid needed changing.
What app is that which let you disable the transfer case
X delete you will need a obd2 adapter from mhd or thor
Can yu fix my 335xi if come in town?
Whats wrong with it?
My trifecta lights only come on after I’ve driven about 10 feet
Hmmm thats really wierd! Im going to need to research that one. I will get back with you shortly.
However im leaning toward wheel speed sensors
Sometimes the pickup ring can become rusted and not reading the sensor as well.

@@southerngearz can you do a video on that.
Yea I sure can i will do that as soon as I get back from iowa
