The first known rail enthusiast was a girl who used to record passing GW locomotives in the days of Daniel Gooch. I’ll find her name… Yes. Found! Fanny Johnson.
@@KarmaMechanic988 why worry? Trans people are a tiny minority and I don’t mind them anyway. Perhaps best not to spoil a little girl’s happy moment with very tangential arguments😉
Oh I was just teleported to my childhood days! My father would take us brothers for train watching from atop a overpass just like this back in India. So sweet memories! ♥
I was crippled as a child (all long since fixed) just after WW2 I teamed up with a WW2 hero that had PTSD he walked miles with me on his shoulders around the local steam train shunting yards, we loved watching those trains, trucks and turntables. Never forget, great guy Jack Bird
You've got such a terrific country and preserved historic trains! I suppose you know that three steamlocomotives are being built in UK after the original drawings? Regards from NL
I heard "PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!", and I was thinking, "OK, that's a Deltic". And I'm not a trainspotter, and I don't even live in England. But there's something about 18 big high-revving two-stroke cylinders, unmuffled by a turbo and exhausting to the open air, that sounds really distinctive.
That was a 37. They look similar. Easiest to differentiate from the windows. I do have footage of a deltic though. ua-cam.com/video/GZo_TpRGf3w/v-deo.htmlsi=NYrJtk_ztJW6IxA-

Push-pull, that thing on the front is a DBSO, which is a modified carriage with a driving cab and a shiteload of cables connected to the locomotive so it can be controlled from the other end. DBSOs have no engine or motors, except the cab and cables they're still an ordinary carriage.
Yes. It uses a DBSO which can control the locomotive at the back so the train can be operated from both ends in both directions. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driving_Brake_Standard_Open
I've never actually seen a train being pushed in the UK before. I love watching videos from the States especially the Pacific Surfliner and Coaster trains with their cab cars and awesome horns! 😊
@@gl4nn American trains are truly next level! Huge length, weights, multiple power cars and double deckers. As you say, amazing horns too. We have to make do with what was built. Not much room or money for improvement 😄
Good to see a girl liking trains. My daughter liked them when she was younger. All grown up now.

My father was a train nut -- passed it down to me! I'm now a 60-something, and growing up didn't dim my enthusiasm for trains!!!
Not so fast!
Seeing she will be at the age where she's going to have to decide what her pronouns are.

Fantastic!
And you'll always remember those fun times with your father. I did the same with my dad in NYC. Cheers.

Noisy and smelly, but everyone loves em- probably for that reason! 😄
It's not great.... It's bl**dy brilliant from a wee lassie 😊
That added a whole new level to the video, it's great just to hear some innocent child get really excited just like we would have one!

I didn't know that but it's great to hear! 🚂
The classic rumble. Unmistakable!
A neat train in interesting winter scenery. I like it! ❤

When I was a kid in the 60s the noise used to scare me 🙂
I recognise that sound a mile away! That is the rumble of the class 37
Gosh , who doesn't remember this from childhood.
I loved trains so much when I was young that my father tied me to the tracks 😢
After so many deaths, having an engine pushing passenger cars in the US is illegal. Thanks for your post.
No passengers on that one. Just engineers.
