      Thanks for the kind comment. Working on another mixed film this evening,I get bored easily and can't watch the TV so I might as well see what other topics I have in my files.

    Graeme loving watching your videos and commentary….your technique is instinctive. From watercraft of casting to a “crease” or to a likely holding spot is absolutely effortless. Real angling skill in action.

    Very enjoyable watch Graeme, particularly with this cold, grey weather outside . I was in Hampshire over Xmas and went to Mottisfont and saw the excellent Nutcracker show in the house. On another subject; my Dad was a bren gun carrier driver in Normandy in the Second World War. I remember going to an army display in the late 1950' s. He could still take the Bren apart and reassemble it quickly. Back in south Devon now with the same grey cold weather. More vids like this please, John

      I was out on the beach last night for a few hours but even though wind down and tide appeared good the fishing was really poor. I think that might be the end of my beach exploits for a while. I've done a lot and been pleased,but in Jan and Feb it usually dies a death,so that might the January fishing for the next couple of months.

    I could almost smell the leather in that Jag, I’ve had quite a few MGB’s and I started with a morris minor and graduated to an Anglia. Love the old cars that’s my kind of Sundays. The straight shorter cartridges are pistol rounds less accurate and only short range, the bottle necks are rifle rounds much more accurate at long distances. I’m looking forward to my fist shots with my 1886 antique Winchester.😊

      I went out yesterday and tried one of the exploding targets to see what they went off like..Used the .22 air rifle at about 10 yards....Wow..! They certainly go off loud. Hopefully a film coming for T.A.Outdoors...Should echo pretty well through the woodland.

    I know exactly this stretch and agree - piking is signficantly harder now than 8 or 9 years ago. It's also true that more people pike fish the stretch more often now than they did then, and we all know that pike really don't respond well to high pressure, so that might have something to do with it? It's also true that we now have otters on the stretch, and that nitrate levels are higher (they are measured regularly by one of the local anging clubs) so I suspect (no actual proof) that it may be a combination of reasons that's caused the increased challenge?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  18 днів тому +1

      Its just having fished it from the Ernie Leah era its still in my mind as to how it looked and what was in there. He got in n scythed swims out for anglers so they could run a float or rolling leger through. And the water was way clearer. Same with many rivers,its hard to put my finger on it(not that I'd want to without surgical gloves) but there seems a slight "bloom" in the clarity ,and I feel many of the rivers are never going to come back to how I remember them. Hopefully I can put together some river slides so the last 2 generations will know what it was looking like in the late 60's and realise how its all changed. But as you say its is a combination of many things,not just one.

  • @meme4one

    The reason for small or lighter modern ammunition is really so you can carry a lot more, allowing you to suppress the enemy. Rifles are shorter and don't have the long range as they did in ww2 etc unless they are specific for specific roles (marksman etc).

      I have to confess I am not a lover of Canals myself.Though if you are in the know as to where the fish hang out you are likely to be successful. Location is the key.

    Cormorants are hammering the rivers because we've taken all the fish from the sea.

    • @TimRoyds
      @TimRoyds 18 днів тому

      I also believed this and it makes good logical sense as we've overfished our seas really badly... until I learned that the pesky cormorants we see inland were actually originally from Scandinavia where they naturally predate on inland waters. A particularly harsh winter back in the 80's forced them to journey South, and unfortunately for us a number of them liked the UK so much they never went back home again! They are in fact a different strain from our 'normal' UK sea birds. That doesn't help our freshwater fish though!! :-(

    • @stephenhollinrake916
      @stephenhollinrake916 3 дні тому

      Sorry but most of our inland cormorants are from Eastern Europe and are immature non breeding birds which go back to Eastern Europe freshwater colonies , they are kept on top of over there and we let them eat everything!! All bird watchers ect who use water ways should pay a water licence to restock!, now I'm am ornithologist of 30 years travelling most of Europe studying birds!
      Habitat destruction is key plus the fact here in uk everything is protected to the point that logic has become a Disney film.

  • @michaelfrank2266
    @michaelfrank2266 20 днів тому

    2nd comment. I had the M16 with the three round burst, like the guy had, assist in my training death. I had a Red Force squad inside our platoon perimeter. I needed to put a metric shit ton of point blank fire at them yesterday not next week. I got 3 rounds stoppage. 3 rounds stoppage and I died a training death instead of saving my squad. I had the same weapon, on a different day, become a club after I crawled through sand. I hated my M16.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  19 днів тому

      I would never have thought of that but it does seem to make sense for close combat requirements.

      All very true ,but in my 74th year I am not about to rush out and invest in all new equipment,drones, etc,we have done all that. Luckily its all free to watch and there is of course the "off" button . I am only doing it all for my own amusement so as long as I enjoy it (plus a few others) that's enough for me. But do feel free to pop out and invest in some brand new camera equipment,editing software and all the other stuff and give it a go yourself . It can be quite fun ,although "fun"may be about to be banned as well..!! (closely followed by smiling......)
