I’ve had some great results on this rig, fished a hard water, where fish just don’t come out, used the withy and hermit lead setup and start catching straight away it worked brilliant in this situation for me, definitely worth a go

Surprised this rig hasn't been renamed the Renyard rig. He's the only angler plugging it for the last 25 years.
My experience of this rig was that it the most inefficient pop rig I've ever used. I used it quite a bit back the day, when it was made by 'Carp R Us' but alongside the hinge stiff, it was no match. We lost quite a few decent fish in this rig. Looking back, if the Carp approaches it side on, it might be ok, but just our experience.
It’s all about on what you feel confident with. Steve has honed his set up to perfection, for what he does and can seriously question it? The proof is in this video.
I personally use a multi rig in my solid bags and have confidence in that.
Did you use it with the hermit set up?
Fantastic film! Am I right in thinking that because its a wafter the hook is sat on the lake bed and not popped up? With the hookbait and maggots hovering slightly above?

Probably 2mm or 4mm for a pva bag. I use 2mm as they compact easy and tighter. Hope that helps bud 👍
