    I didn't realize survival mode is permadeath. I survived 97 days and then jumped off a cliff.

    This was my level of difficulty. I picked it because I was not familiar with the game BUT also did not want the baby mode either.
    So far I survived 70 days. Wolfs. So many Wolfs all the time. I call this game now "THE LONG BARK" :D

    Voyageur is a good difficulty to go for long survival (500+ days for example). Planning to start in Mountain Town. There are lots of wolves there though.

      Yup... Most central locations with good shelter and crafting tables etc. also have some of the highest spawns of wolves. The few exceptions to this would be Camp office and Riken...

      @@Lonelywolfofficial And even Camp office has a wolf-infested lake near it. I saw three. I shot one with a distress pistol and it tried to charge me a few minutes later. It's near it but not directly on top of it. Wolves rarely track close enough to be bothersome right out the gate, though it's not impossible.

    Having only played Wintermute, nomad challenge and Voyager (in that order), I don't have much to compare against for survival modes. I am about 170 days into Voyager and i can remember what my paranoia was about from beginning to now. First to last ....
    1. How do i not freeze or get stuck in a blizzard with not enough food or water when adventuring away from "base". 2. How do i get all my gear out of the gas station now that a bear and a pack of wolves are waiting to pounce on me once i walk out.
    2. Where is a hammer? I'm gonna need that to make tools because my tools are decaying fast and I don't want to leave this region yet, guess I'll set up a base in DP.
    3 Looted all of DP, lets move it all back to CH
    4. Where is a moose? I need more carry capability.
    5. How do I move to ML, there just is no moose in CH (expended an entire bear worth of meat staking one out).
    6. Used all my food moving to ML, where can i bag a bear to continue the moose hunt.
    7 OMG OMG OMG a moose and its night time!
    8. Soooo what do i do waiting for this moose hide to cure, I guess I'll go map Mountain Town to prepare for my excursion into Hushed River Valley.
    9 Path to HRV via MT is mapped, lets go back to the cabin in un-named pond to check on the moose hide.

    Voyager was the setting of my first game, on mystery lake and i stumbled upon the Dam as the first main spot to find and i looted it and got lucky, funny enough finding a hatchet and the hunting knife was hard as took me several in game days to found them. I found the rifle first in a train cart with two bullets before the other two objects. kept finding pistol ammo but no pistol for a long while. My game luck for goods was weird to stay the least. Good times though good times be it bad times and good ones. This is also the game where my Bad luck with wolves started as well and them coming round the bend at the least best time and surprising me.

    • @Lonelywolfofficial
      @Lonelywolfofficial  4 роки тому +2

      Yeah loot is randomized a bit so you won't always find the same things in the same places but there are typical places to look for certain items.

      @@Lonelywolfofficial yeah i found that out the hard way. I also remember when i first left Mystery lake in my first game i took the train tracks to Forlom Muskeg a bad move in the end as i was nearly killed by a bear while camping inside the train cart with the fire barrel inside. I was not ready for such a vast and shelter less wasteland well when compared to what mystery lake offered.
      I ran back to the Camp office.

    I've been playing Stalker, but I'm going to try the Voyager difficulty for the reduced calorie burn rate. I find that on Stalker, I'm constantly feeding my character. It's probably because I avoid starving my character even though you get a 1% damage bonus. Maybe Voyager difficulty will be more fun.

  • @safehavenonice6431
    @safehavenonice6431 5 років тому +2

    I started with Voyager and haven't found much reason to leave, honestly. I picked it because I was fresh with the game but felt like a wuss picking the lowest difficulty. Recently gave Stalker and Interloper a whack to see how I would do, and I don't really care for them. Stalker turns the game into more of a stealth FPS rather than a survival game in my opinion, and I don't like how Interloper just chucks you into the unknown with basically nothing to fall back on and a very real possibility you'll just freeze to death no matter what. With the drops so pitifully low and none of the best gear even on the loot tables, I almost don't see the point of looting in 'Loper. That being said, I find myself actually annoyed with how much stuff is dropping in my most recent Voyager game. I feel like the spawns were never this insane. I have multiples of every tool (including a second revolver... you know... for reasons) and an absurd amount of bullets to go around just from clearing Broken Railroad and Mystery Lake (with a foray into the Old Spence Homestead to forge arrowheads I won't need for a good long while). I feel like the devs should tone down some of the drops for Voyager, and I hope the next update will fix that. I don't know. Maybe I'm just a wuss that should bump it up to Stalker. :P

      The modes aren't just steps in difficulty, though. Try a custom mode; I like starting with Interloper settings but turning the rifle/revolver on.

    • @jensb3946
      @jensb3946 5 років тому +3

      Safehavenonice I respect your opinion, but there is never a chance that you freeze to death no matter what if you’re really good at the game. Just watch some streamers play this game, they always play interloper and they never die in the first 50 days

    • @safehavenonice6431

      @@jensb3946 Admittedly I'm not MLG-Pro by any stretch, but the prospect of being spawned, say, halfway up Timberwolf Mountain without even a bedroll seems pretty hopeless. There's probably a way to do it, and I don't know how if that way is "legit," but for my skill level those tactics would just be dying more slowly. It personally drives me crazy when I feel like I have no agency in these things.

    • @Lonelywolfofficial
      @Lonelywolfofficial  5 років тому +2

      Hence the different experience modes. Everyone can find a bill that fits them. And if you can't, there's the custom modes where you can tune the mechanics to your fancy. Pick voyager in the settings and then tune the variables to your liking!
      Stalker is totally about just merciless wolves EVERYWHERE. Interloper is like, yeah there's wolves but it's not a big deal because, you know, freezing.

    Maybe for the newest update, but I play on voyageur diff and after arriving to mistery lake, I had serious wolf problems. I had nothing that attracts wolf, yet every single time I've tried to venture out to the railway area (especially to the tunnel direction) a wolf from a very long distance is tried to kill me. Tried it both night and day, if it sees me 100% chance, he's come for me. Every single time. Not even a flare scare him off. Really annoying :/ (sorry if my english is bad)

    • @Lonelywolfofficial

      Yellow is a bit risky but not too bad, just make sure you have Reishi or antibiotics handy. Red is a big no no.

      @MellowGrunt10 3 роки тому

      Late response
      If you have level 5 cooking skill, red and even ruined food is an option, at least in my experience and I believe the skill does state that you no longer get food poisoning at level 5.
      If you are going to try and eat red food without level 5 cooking, then I recommend waiting until you are going to sleep for the night if you do, you can pop some antibiotics and sleep for 10 hours. I also recommend that you make sure your health is high if not full. This tactic can be risky, I most certainly don’t do it super often and would never recommend it for interloper, but it has helped me make use of the food I do have when I’m struggling with a shortage.

      My first time was this setting on Mystery Lake it will was very fun but showed me the good parts and the bad times in this game and how you can be riding high in the morning and by evening your crawling to shelter due to a wolf surprising you and then kicking your rear in. The Dam creeped me out though i will say the sounds and the eerie feeling it has. I walked into it first time lucking for water at night time that did not help either, lucky for me Fluffy does not live their anymore or i missed her.
      Playing the game the first time is an experience which can never be repeated sadly but the game still hits the right notes. I think we all wish we can play the game fresh once more in our minds and get surprised again.
