I'm pretty sure someone on the team was a nu-metal head. After that jazzy bass intro, the distorted bass slightly changed and it started to sound like a nu-metal riff/rhythm. Which ties to some of the shots in the MV that looked like they were inspired by Linkin Park or Evanescence (like the blurs when the shot was moving around the subject, or the subject having blur while turning but had a clear view of the subject).
